As was stated... Sewing your leg = pass time screen same as for sewing your coat.  So, you're basically saving 1 more of those screens each time a wolf attacks you is more fun?  I disagree.

many more things could be added for  the example of a broken leg: you can craft a wood prosthese to hold your leg while it is healing (it dosent have to be 20 or 10 days) without it you walk slower and you cannot run, with it you can walk normally and run but cannot have more kg than what your pack let you have. so this is a real change to the gameplay.

  2. It would be cool if we had a small variety of buildings when they look the same ex: mystery lake camp office is a unique building. I am talking about the trailers, the broken houses (the ones where we have a stove inside) the hunters blinds etc.

A whole new set of colors and insides for examples A blue trailer has beds and desks inside but a green trailer will only have tables lockers and chairs to eat. Tools could be stored inside red trailers along some other random objects. All of this would give a nice toutch to the enviroment compared to the 3 blue trailers with beds and desks inside that are all the same

For the broken houses maybe it could have some picnics tables around them and benches. Some could only have half of the structure remaining or only a hole on one side. Tables inside coule be a great addition or even some lockers and safes sometimes !

Those were a couple of examples but there is a lot of common buildings inside all the regions so if I have forgotten any buildings that are kind of bold and you would like to see revampted dont hesitate to post your idea !

You call it broken, that's fine.  I disagree.  I think it prevents the game from getting needlessly bogged down (which also, BTW, breaks immersion by becoming overly tedious and causing people to lose interest).  For the most part, moose spawns are placed where you can't get stranded on a small plateau due to broken ribs.  In Ash Canyon, it's the bear that spawns up top, not a moose.  Thankfully, IMO... although watching people try to wobble across those bridges with a broken leg without falling off might be entertaining for a few seconds.

I dont think that having a broken leg "breaks" the fun, its quite the opposite i think. First lets say in situation one, i get attacked by a wolf I loose 50% of my health I have a couple of lacerations and my two ankles anre sprained. I will apply a couple of bandages, swallow some painkillers and apply a anti infection bandage. all of that happens in a couple of seconds and are all done inside a menu. Then i will come back to a safe cave or house, sleep a couple hours to recover then i will fix my clothes.

Then lets say that a more complex wound system exists : I will get attacked by a wolf bla bla bla, Then i have to apply a bandage but my wound isnt healed, it is only a temporary solution i still have to get to my safe place (its not the time to apply antiseptic its -45 outside) Then i will have to sew my leg in order to then start recover (note that in situation 1 i still need to take the time to recover, repair clothes etc the only difference is that i cannot run a marathon or just... run until it is done !)

So, would a more complex healing system would break the game or simply be annoying to watch on stream or play ? My answer would be an obvious NO beacause it only adds a layer of realism and more actions to achieve in the game wich is something i would love !

Maybe when it is time to stitch your two ripped leg's meat together you could have final stitch quality witch at 100% would have no chance to reopen (for example)

and when you run the first time after a wound you would have a broken stich chance and the more you run the more little bar climbs up to 100% like a frostbite risk.

to conclude, we already have to stay and not do much when we get wounded so adding a better healing system wouldn't change much on that point !

  4. I think it would be nice to add more long term wounds. Broken leg could be an interesting one as @Syraith said. bears and moose should be more dangerous (and the bear should be harder to hunt but that is another topic).

Everything in this game is short term. Anything long term will need to wait for mods

i wish i had a down vote button. just as explained, moose attacks have a long term healing, making a bow is useful for long term survival exactly like clothes made out of skin. i would say the opposite actually, Most of the things are made for long term survival.

I've always felt that a bear attack should kill the player outright regardless of their health and clothing.  I suspect that's not the case because of the story mode and The Hunted challenge.  Rather than have them change the current wolf and bear attacks now though, I'd like to see them add in cougars and give them a particularly lethal or crippling attack... making them truly an apex predator in the game.

that dosent fix the issue with the bears and wolves though...

    Hello,

It would be nice if you could craft a greenhouse on empty ground and grow plants inside.

I know. It's not Minecraft. But I think it would be a nice escape from the harsh winter.

    Regards,

    Pyroxene

no plants grow in winter. temperatures can easily go down to -50

Electricity only works during an aurora. It's kinda tld lore. If batteries worked then cars and anything else battery powered would work too.

I agree that the flshlight should be more useful, but @odizzido has a point

So... to prevent the animals from getting stuck on these obstacles... what do you suggest?  That they code them so the animals can go right through them as though there is nothing there?

I think the devs already have in mind a way to fix a lot of bugs and we are only here to sugest new ideas ; we suggest the fire reflector then the devs decide if its worth it to add it and if it needs new bug fixes. you are not helping them as they are profetionals, they know what to do and it leaves an irrelevent debate on the table.

Not sure why you would need multiple ones active in the same region or, by extension, multiple regions at the same time.  You are very likely to only have 1 fire burning anywhere in the world at a given time.

beacause if you forget to dismantle a reflector you have to come back dismantle it and then you can build one where you really want. thats a pain in the ass

they could just make them afraid of torches.

They are! Once i mountain goated a cliff and there was a bear down there, after 2 hours of passing time it was still there so i tried the torch, It took two torch and he flew.

Of course its only personal experiment and it might have been a bug but the second torch fell ON the bear that might be the cause. I wouldnt try to throw a torch on a bear if i am not safe on a tree or a cliff though

Yeah, but flares are rather finite. They were my go to for deterring bears and now I’m down to my last 3.

Everything is finite, one day you will run out of everything especially if you dont pay attention to what you use. On my interlopper run i only have one flare since almost the beggining i always use torches for the wolves and i keep the flare to deter a wolf if there is too much wind.

Your cocktails molotov use cloth wich is a finite material too and glass wich cannot be found naturally + oil wich can be found naturally by cooking fish but it only gives a small amount and i would rather keep it for my lantern than for molotovs

I still think the solution is to combine it with Crumbling Highway and add another route that continues along the coast rather than having to go through the mine.

I am not shure it is the solution, Combining them would not do anything beacause they already exist but separately and not to mentions that the way to cross these two region are by the mines so combining them would literally make nothing beacause you would still have to go inside the mine.

  14. I wonder if i am the only one to find that desolation point is very small if we compare it to other maps. I think hinterland should rework it a bit. We can easily loot the church, lighthouse riken and hibernia processing in one day if we do it quickly and the road leads you to the tree of em easily it is very easy to travel in a blizzard in that map. It is no longer useful to take the trip there anymore beacause of the forges in FM and BR.

Lets say that a medium forest was added near the broken bridge spot. it would be more interesting to go explore there but for now theres nothing. Maybe a small oasis of life with plenty of rabbits, wolves bears mooses and deers and maybe a fishing hut in the middle of a lake. All of that in the middle of the mountains that is only accessible via a cave system that starts at the waterfall or someting like that!

Feel free to comement ! :)

By the way here's the comaprison between DP and PV:

Yet im not sure if it might not be too strong of a buff on interlooper

I dont think so, wood is very important in interlopper for everything you depend on fire so i dont think it is going to be easy to do that everywhere it would be unecessairy. I think it would be the most useful when setting up camps in far away regions with poor shelter options and when we are harvesting animals.

    Lets suppose only two seasons

I had an idea in the past that kind of meet your's its an idea of a challenge and here's the desciption i made for it

(the beggining has been ispired by someone on the topic so it is no mine) You live near milton at the paradise meadows farm and it is the end of the winter... you take some week off to go see a member of your familly at the blackrock federal prison. when you are there an earthquacke happens at milton and blocks all the possible entrances to the region. except one: by forlon muskeg at marsh ridge. The only way you can get back to your familly to check if they are safe is by FM and the winter is near ending... we all know that FM is a dangerous path during winter so its not even imaginable near the spring as the ice gets thiner and thiner, sooner or later the path is going to be untakeable. But our hero wants to try his luck and start by foot from Blackrock and travels to his house. now the challenge is right here you will have two days to go from blackrock to your house and without taking the fastest shortcuts it is not going to be possible. on the way multiple dangers will come: blizzards wolf packs bears hunger. everything that we know. now if you finally get to marsh ridge alive you will still have to go from milton bassin to your house and there is still thin ice and big bears there... you will have to pay attention.

the last part is the most beautiful one if you finally get to your house after climbing one of the highest climbing spot in the game you will finally see your home and a beautiful and peaceful spring hitting the plains as a reward for this challenge...

I dont know how to quote from another post but for the interested people the post is called : Mix of ideas / brainstorming

I would love to see something like that as a challenge or as another separate game but i like the unchanging weather of the game in regular sandboxes.

Now, once story mode is no longer a factor and time can progress then we might start to see new things including seasons, new seasonal mechanics, and seasonal changes in the landscape as a result, assuming that the game world development continues.

Devs have promised to deliver every episode of storymode 1-5 for free but after that i doubt they are going to continue the developpement of the game for free or at all.

I would like hinterland's next survival game to be a summer game or a game where seasons occurs though.
