  1. I Just hunted a bear and almost died, I made a campfire to heat up and take care of my wounds right next to the carcass then, i took some time to heal, about 5 - 7 days (I had worms too) Then i tried to find that carcass wich was very important to me beacause i almost lost 100 interlopper days for it and when i found the camfire that was next to the carcass (the exact same) the carcass was no longer there...

I would like to have a patch that makes carcasses stay in the map for at least 50 days if not fully havested, it dosent makes sense that a 100 pound bear disapear in -30 temeratures after 7 days, or maybe something bigger ate it like bigfoot ?!

I expect that there will be some limitation

I hope not, to take minecraft as an example : (a highly moddable and modded game) vanilla minecraft is as enjoying as modded minecraft beacause there is no limits to what can be done and it dosent feel like mods are breaking the base game.

For me I would want only simple mods that let me remove clutter or fix the broken cupboards. Adding new maps would be nice, but not changing the feel of the cold dark loneliness. No seasons or anything like that.

That is why mods are good you are free to play with no mods or the ones that you want. personally i would definetely add regions and if the tools are available I would even try to make one, afterall it is an exploration game :)

  4. I know that hinterland plan to add mod support and i think it could be interesting to have access to all the assets used in unity to create the regions, rocks buildings carcasses, everything so that we could potentially make proffetional looking maps with unity. I am certain that some people will try to create regions so why not give them the tools ? :)

firstly if a polar bear region is added to the game I would say the shotgun wuld be the weapon of use for players who want to go into that hellhole

That is for shure but for now the shotgun dosent look different from flare gun : dosent kill and scares animals

  6. I have Just finished episode 4 and I will say it right now, the episode 4 of story mode is by FAAAAAAR the best in every way. Characters, cinematic, Building variety through the map, Art style, suspense in the scenario, a lot of new mechancis and a good balance between survival and story aspect.

I have been surprised from the beggining to the end about every thighs I have seen !

First the Cinematics. Yes in episode 3 we have better cinematics than episode one and two but nothing can be compared to ep 4 ones. They are entertaining. like movies. We cant interact with character through questions like we were able to do in previous episodes but i thing that those were breaking the beat and mood of cinematics with long silences and I prefer without. Hinterland has been generous in the ammount of cinematics, their lenght, visual aspect and small details that makes the difference !

The other thing we first realise is how every character is complex with its own story. It brings a lot of life to the game and I like it.

The level design is also awesome. There are no maps that looks like this one and every building is different from another. In the older maps every broken houses, trailers watchtowers caves are the same But in blackrock everything is different from the rest of the world (Mine, steam tunnels, electric lines, enormous crevaces, FLOWING RIVER !) I also think that buildings were better fit to the terrain. It didnt looked like terrain has been made for the buildings but quite the opposite. Nothing seemed to be there just to be there.

I dont know if i was the only one to feel that but though all the mine exploration part of the story i thaught i was going to encounter Astrid. Finally we didnt but that was nice to wonder about things and the more i go far in the story the more i feel like that ! So about suspense i think it was at its maximum during the last cinematic. It answered a couple of questions but we still have some :D (How the hell astrid got to perseverance mills)

To be brief i just loved every aspect of episode four, Cant wait for episode five. I also felt that a lot of the community wishes that i have seen in the forums these past years have been developped in this update and i wanted to thank Hinterland for that (I am thinking about perseverance mills wich looks like it will only be acessible by boat) !

3.And because I am talking about water, why does drinking a lot of water ( say 0,6L) take the same amount of time as if we were drinking 0,1L of water? Again it's the same with eating. I think the time it takes to drink water or eat food should be related with the amount of the water drunk or the food eaten.

Beacause when you dont want to eat the full snack you have the time to stop at the half and keep the rest for another night

      Hide contents

close the 3 connection valve on top and route through the 2 connection valve on the bottom that hisses a little - yes the hissing is intended

      Reveal hidden contents

after you "started" the main generator/oven you need to enter the second room... to solve this you need to go through all the crouchy tunnels

That is what i tried and it worked, that is so weird that losing steam through a leak gives you more pressure... but i guess i fugured it out at least

The vertical cave entrance sounds cool. Imagine dropping in a flare only for the light disappear down the hole and then choosing to abseil down.

The stone bridges are kind of the same mood. inside the cave you have bridges with ifinite walls going down on the sides and we cant see the bottom. It is so far away that the light does not shine anymore when a torch hit the bottom

  11. Introduction

I have been trying As the dead sleeps recently for the second time but first since a while. I have found that this challenge was extremely hard and I didnt particularly knew why at the beginning. The reason is that i dont know bleak inlet at all and i keep dying whitout escaping every time. So for short i am able to survive 100+ days in interlopper if i dont make big mistakes but not more than two or three days in bleak inlet at the same difficulty. I Think it is very nice to be challenged this much like in ATDS. My case is kind of unique but what i know is that map knowledge is the key to long term survival.

    Idea

As said i love to be challenged this much and not getting bored after 100 days beacause there is nothing else to do. So the Idea would be to implement a precedurally generated map in order to up the challenge a bit. of course a map with buildings caves rock formation etc. I know the map would be more boring except if it is very well made but the challenge would be even more beautiful. :)

Another thing that could make a run harder (or easier, it is player's choice) is make custimisable spawning loot. It could be anything like: one match and nothing else or the opposite, a buch of clothes and fully equipped with tools. as is aid it would be the player who choose his playstyle

    Any Thoughts ?

There is nothing wrong with skis and sleds.  The issue is that implementing them is much more complex from the game point of view than from the player point of view.

Yes but we are not here to discuss from the devs point of view, that will be their part to judge if they want to implement it, just stick with do you want a sled, yes? no? and why ?

Personally i love this idea i just finished reading mike horn's book on his night trip to the north pole (the one you see on the picture) and i just love the idea of the sled wich i wouldn't have if i havent read the book. In real life a sled is so much more trouble thank it seems, mike horn's sled weigh 200kg wich is about 450 pounds... It is way better to have a backpack for mobility than a sled if you can. Of course in the long dark it would have to be tweaked to be hard but advantageous, i dont know why though.

    Unnecessary damage possibly!

I agree its a good idea. but i dont think it is unecessairy damage, it provides shelter wind protection. wich is rare in the world. its basically the equivalent of snow shelter but you cannot move it or make it where you want and in counterpart you only damage your knife a bit

I'm pretty sure I'd rather have a cougar added that jumps me from the drak and kills me instantly... and finding a strategy to avoid it at all costs rather than being able to just shoot it in the face as it rushes me head on.

If they add third-person animations, then things get more interesting...  but that's a tall order for revamping the entire game.

But why are you talking about cougars we are talking about new  healing methods. can you do a specific thread for it it is not the place
