  1. @Lone Walker @Bloodskye I can confirm that sound is linked to pre-existing snow shelters! The same thing happened to me in Forsaken Airfield where there's a snow shelter in one location. Startled me immensely the first time I heard it! Haven't reported it because I thought it was a known issue that pre-existing snow shelters are bugged (I got stuck in one)... but I can't seem to find it on the major issues list. @Admin can you confirm it's a known issue?
  2. Thank you so much for saying this out loud, it means a lot coming from the head of Hinterland. It can get a little frustrating and disappointing to see those sentiments you mentioned, to be made feel like I'm less of a "real" TLD player because I don't enjoy having Aggressive wildlife around. So, thank you for affirming that we are all equally valid in our enjoyment of the game, in ways meaningful and rewarding to us.
  3. Finally made it to Forsaken Airfield. I love this map, it's so vast! And the two cabins have shot right to the top of my favourite indoor locations list in the entire game. However, it's really sad that there is no list of surveyable locations for this map in the journal. Sure, I can wander around and use charcoal to see more and more of the map, but I can't ever check that I 'got them all' while wandering around, to give me the satisfaction of knowing I've explored every nook and cranny. Granted, my favourite 'challenge' in the game is faithful cartographer, so it's also the game mode I enjoy the most. Anyone else feel the same way?
  4. Welcome! If you started a new playthrough after the launch of the Expansion Pass, you won't have to start a new game just because you got the DLC – I'm pretty sure the content will be added to your gameplay. Perhaps @Admin can confirm?
  5. Thanks for checking – I'll have to have another look! I couldn't see them across the entire blueprint menu but entirely possible I missed them somehow. Are they 'Crampons' or 'Improvised Crampons'?
  6. This. Raph's apology post is really nice and I'm sure necessary for many folks. Personally, because I'm a reasonable person who has a basic measure of patience, I only had one criticism out of this entire hoopla – the lack of patch notes. Which have now been confirmed to be coming (yay) and Hinterland likely won't make that error again! Everybody needs to chill by a fire with a nice cup of rosehip tea.
  7. Just wondering if I need to put in a support ticket – I'm playing a custom game and have not found an option in my crafting menu for improvised crampons, and I definitely have the DLC. Can anyone else confirm or deny? Did you have the blueprint for the new crampons from the get go?
  8. There should have been a list of patch notes at launch. Period. SO many complaints across social media, forums, and Steam reviews have stemmed from the complete lack of written communication over 1) what is included in the first drop of the expansion pass; 2) what changes have been made to Survival mode. It's a real shame because usually the studio is so so excellent at communicating! Raph said on Twitter that there were over a 1,000 small tweaks made during the restructure and therefore it was impossible to have a change list, but I disagree. Hinterland should have found a way to summarise the major changes, list the expansion contents, and hint at the smaller changes. Releasing a video on TFTF is not enough.
  9. Just reading some of the replies here, I really don't understand how you can logically be okay with a DLC that comes in parts and not be okay with an early access DLC at the same time, if you think that the season pass system equates early access. In my opinion there's nothing "early access" about the expansion pass... It's just the first release after they COMPLETELY restructured the game, to have zero bugs would be a miracle.
  10. Yes the old 'guaranteed' spawns don't exist any more - all loot has been completely reworked so the Interloper community will have to work out where the new 'guaranteed' spawns are! From expansion pass website: "All loot tables and item placements have been refreshed, giving the game world an updated feeling. Resources have been themed to match the regions, to avoid all regions feeling the same."
  11. Alright, good to know, thank you! It makes me sad that I won't be able to apply that unique surveying experience to the entire island, but you must have your reasons to cap the achievement, it's already pretty hefty! In that case, for geographical completionists like myself, is there an official list somewhere of all named locations on Great Bear so that we can pretend to cartographer even without using the surveyed locations in-game? Could you please, please, please consider releasing one if no such list exists? I was really looking forward to doing another pretend cartographer run and including all the new places, but now, how will I know I've seen them all? ☹️
  12. This is not really a support request, but I thought I'd ask in case the devs or someone else around here has the info. I already have the Faithful Cartographer achievement on Steam, but I got it shortly before Blackrock was added to Survival - and I never managed to get to Blackrock on that save before the current wipe due to a hiatus. With the drop of the new expansion, I want to start a new 'faithful cartographer' and complete a list of all surveyable locations in one save again, including everything in TFTFT. However, in my new run post-TFTFT patch, I'm not seeing any of the expansion locations in the Surveyed Locations collection. (Come to think of it, I also don't think I've seen Blackrock on there.) Can I get a confirmation on whether the Surveyed Locations list is going to include ALL named Great Bear locations once more?
  13. I think it's inevitable people will have different feelings over whether there's "enough stuff" at the launch of the season pass or not - that's entirely subjective and relates to play style as well. I played for a few hours last night on a new custom save and am nowhere near ready to even set out for the new region! Astrid is wearing cloth scraps on her hands still! But I don't play games to rush through them... so the next expansion drop will probably feel like it's right on time, and I will have that fresh feeling of yet more new, shiny things to have and do on Great Bear. I bought the expansion at launch because I'm excited for the roadmap and want to support a game that has given me lots of joy over the years. That's more than enough for me. However, I also think the argument about "not enough value upfront" doesn't hold because it was made abundantly clear to people that by buying it at launch, they are buying into the roadmap and getting an unfinished product. We were told it will take 12 months to get everything that's being promised. And Hinterland made it clear nobody is forcing people to buy the expansion until they know exactly what's in it - so really, the only criticism that holds water is the baffling lack of a written list of features at launch. (If Hinterland is reading this, guys, patch notes?? Hello? Would save you all one of the big headaches that came with the launch, as in, people not knowing what's in it and expecting too much.)
  14. While I disagree that there's not enough content in the DLC yet, because I found the season pass very well communicated and understood exactly what I paid for yesterday, the one thing that baffles me - and has certainly contributed to confusion on the forums and the review bombing - is a lack of complete, detailed, written patch notes! Why is there no complete list anywhere with what specifically we got at launch? Only laying everything out in a video with Raph and Katie was a strange choice. I watched the video so I knew what I'd get, but I'm likely a minority. In general, videos are not nearly as accessible or searchable as patch notes/lists; the video can be a bonus but shouldn't be the main vehicle of the all-crucial "here's what you get at launch" info. Unless I'm totally wrong and there are patch notes somewhere, but I certainly haven't come across them yet...
  15. You guys. I searched Carter Dam top to bottom and found a single tin of coffee. No coffee at the logging camp nor the workers' cabins, none at the murder cabin, none at Trapper's. Astrid has been alive and awake for 53 hours but it is now snowing heavily, she's at Trappers, and so far the entire Mystery Lake map has yielded a measly single tin of coffee. On Pilgrim. Fatigue is, yep, bottomed out. On a related note, how do stims work? Not that I have any of those either!
  16. What a challenge! I decided to try it out on Pilgrim mode, because I usually play with passive wildlife anyway. To make it a touch more challenging, however, I went with a Random starting spawn. Thus, Astrid woke up on a clear, cold morning in Forlorn Muskeg right by the tunnel that goes to Broken Railroad. With a cup of coffee in her backpack! What an exciting start. I decided to immediately head for the maintenance yard as the nearest shelter with a save point and hopefully some clothes. Found a coffee cup in one of the microwaves! Going well! Looted the place, rugged up a little and trudged up to the lodge, where I found an entire coffee tin in the kitchen. Spent the evening by the fire getting clothes to a decent condition, cooking up all that coffee, and getting ready for an aurora-lit night time stroll out to more lootable pastures. Shuddering, walked across Forlorn Muskeg, with a much-needed coffee and sewing studying break by the fire barrel at poacher's camp, before hitting up Mystery Lake at daybreak, where I ransacked every single cabin, fishing hut, and the camp office around the lake with no further coffee yield for Astrid. Ack! One cup left now, 33 hours survived, fatigue has bottomed out. Planning to trek to the dam next! Should I pop up to the watch tower or nah? Logging camp? I don't like my chances here. My own notes so far: You'd think with pilgrim loot this is a cakewalk, but once you're super fatigued, the character's carrying capacity is very low; I'm finding myself stripping down to bare necessities, and coffee so far has been tantalizingly rare. The urge to lie down and have a nap is amazingly strong. I harvested a bedroll for cloth and it felt like sacrilege 🤪 Until I can pile up some more coffee (if this will ever happen, doubtful), I'm sticking to super conservative routes and not making any strenuous climbs or even long walks anywhere. Honestly, this is game-breaking, but a nice way to engage with the mechanics differently! Normally, I wouldn't bother going out at night, but what else is there to dooo...
  17. Arrows, crosses, and 'avoid direction' markers don't show up on the map!
  18. I think the best difficulty is whatever suits the player! My favourite is probably custom, although that means I still haven't made a dent in any feats, since I even used my custom run to achieve Faithful Cartographer and am now working towards the 500 day achievement there, too. I don't like jump scares and having to watch my back regarding wolves etc., but I do enjoy having to be smart, know my maps, and watch out for other more unforgiving survival elements, so I tuned custom to have really bad loot and really terrible weather, no weapons except for a bow, all conditions including parasites and cabin fever, but also passive wildlife. Some might scoff at that being a 'camping simulator', but the developers of TLD pride themselves at offering a wide range of experiences within a single game. It's a big tent, people. So far, that kind of custom has been my favourite way to play, but if I want some feats I think I'll have to dip back into pilgrim or perhaps try my hand at voyager (shudder).
  19. Oh no, I'm sorry you lost your old thread! I've been following this journey with great interest. Congrats on making it a week! If I start my own, would you prefer if I start my own thread, or shall I post here as well?
  20. Thanks for the advice, I started the episode again and things are going much more smoothly with the wolves! However, now I'm worried I didn't tick another box somewhere because suddenly none of the side quests are triggering when I pick up memos, notes, etc. Is this another known issue? I've been a bit out of the loop regarding the game. Edit: Turns out I had to reload the game and all the side quests showed up like they should! Just leaving this up here in case anyone else runs into the same problem.
  21. Oh. My. Glob. You guys are soooo right, even though I started right where I left off with my previous save, it was somehow set to Capable Survivor! I am so glad I asked the trusty forum, I would have never realised that. Does anyone know if I can change this setting mid-save or if I have to start the episode over? I am not cut out for this difficulty level, haha.
  22. Please avoid spoilers in replies, I have barely started playing the episode! Only just made it out the main gate and trying to get to the medical truck. I've played the first three episodes of Wintermute on Green Survivor and never had much trouble mastering the necessary level of wolf and timberwolf engagement (in Survival I play exclusively with passive wildlife). Shoot them with a rifle, scare them away with a torch/flare, whatever. Usually, they would obediently run away or I could shoot them dead. However, so far in this episode Mackenzie has already died countless times, because the wolves appear to be acting erratically. I finally discovered a rifle and thought my troubles were over, but I fired said rifle at a wolf only to be munched down seconds later. Is there some new growling or aggression mechanic I'm just not aware of? I threw a noisemaker and they ran away, then came right back to attack. The wolves have also randomly run away OR attacked at the sight of torches, flares, or even stones. Worse still, even if I survive a wolf attack they come back so quickly, I have no time to patch myself up or even get my bearings. Anyone know what I might be missing? I'm not an experienced combat player, but I did make it through the rest of Wintermute on the same settings, so what gives?
  23. Ah, it just further demonstrates that success in that particular part of the episode is based on your experience with certain game genres. Just wasn't for me. Anyway, I FINISHED EPISODE THREE YOU GUYS IT WAS SO GOOD! If anyone else comes to these forums upset about the bear and wanting to quit, persevere, episode three is by far the best instalment to date. I'm actually looking forward to episode 4 now, although I'm worried about Will...
