  1. Woo looks like fun!

I just have one problem though.
people buying the DLC (including myself) PAID to get the content at a "8-10 week cadence" key word PAID.

With free updates, you aren't ever held to a specific date, but if people are paying for it, that's a different story. You're now promising to deliver at 16 weeks, a significant jump!

I'm am perfectly fine waiting, but please don't lie about what I'm paying for, and when I'm paying to get it! It's just a bad practice.

Please be more realistic with your time estimation as to not upset everyone.

You made the mistake this time, so go now and fix your product page, and your store pages to match what is more realistic for your team. It becomes concerning if you fail to keep a promise that we paid for.

I love this game and won't ever leave it, but trust with your community is something your business lacks, and this issue doesn't help.

  2. When the Xbox version releases, you will get all the content associated with Part One. If you own the DLC, you will get all the content from TFTFT. If you don't, you will get all of the free-stream content. Updating to this new version will DELETE all of your saves, so make sure you finish up with them before the update goes live.

Part Two will not drop on Xbox until at least March 30th, but like part one will likely be delayed by several months, meaning PC only will be released.

  3. Recently, some new job positions opened up at Hinterland, one of which is a job working on the so-called "Project Hummingbird" (codename)

We have a limited description, but it seems to be an "Original Science Fiction IP", with distinct flair for the world design, and a thought-provoking science fiction setting (Paraphrased)

The game world is described as "Vast", and the concept is described as "the next generation of science fiction"

The game will also be developed in Unreal Engine 5

You can read about the job details here: https://hinterlandgames.com/careers/environment-concept-artist

Sounds very intriguing, and I can't wait for more details!

  4. Bears will avoid fire, and if the are walking towards you they will be stopped by fire. If they are antagonized in this state, they will overcome their fear and charge. The only thing that can stop a charging bear is the distress pistol

  5. If you wanted to get extra scientific here's is the formula for the maximum possible sleep time when outdoors, no matter that weather and without a fire:

First, we want to have as much condition as possible so we can survive longer.
The most obvious way to do this is the Well Fed bonus, awarding an extra 5% max condition.

Next, we can drink Herbal Tea, which gives the Improved Rest benefit, restoring 2% condition per hour. (For simplicity sake, we will use stalker settings)

Next, we can also drink Birch Bark Tea, which restores 5% condition over the course of 2 hrs.

These are all the buffs we can give.
optimally, we will be sleeping in a bear-skin bedroll with the best possible clothes with the warming up effect in a warmer region, but the temp drain with this setup will be inconsistent, so to make it easier we can assume you start freezing as soon as you fall asleep.

Now what stats are against us?
Hypothermia takes 2hrs to set in, and drains condition at 20% per hour, and 40% per hour after the 2hrs.

Finally let's bring it all together. We have 105% condition, and a bonus of 2% per hour, and 5% in 2hrs or 2.5% per hour.
Unfortunately, sleep only restores condition if all our needs are met, which they won't be.

If we sleep for 3hrs, we would get +6% for herbal tea, and +5% for birch bark tea for a total condition of 116%.
Now let's factor in our debuffs.

Sleeping for 3hrs will cause us to lose 40% condition in the first two hours, and 40% in the third hour for a total lost of 80%.

This means we'd be left with 36% condition when we'd wake up.
unfortunately, we'd need at least 41% condition after 3hrs in order to sleep an extra hour

So in order to retain an extra 3% more condition (No I didn't fail at math, the herbal tea would give us another 2% condition for the 4th hour) we would have to stay above freezing for as long as possible when we start sleeping.

So all in all, 3hrs is the highest practical number to sleep max.
however the highest theoretical number may reach 4hrs depending on how fast our temp meter drains.

But you shouldn't ever sleep more than 1-2hrs if you're unsure if the weather will change

I'm sure this has been previously scientifically answered, but I can't find it.

Assuming you go to bed having drank and fed, and have no afflictions going in, what is the longest that you can SAFELY sleep, in an outdoor location? I just died 149 days into a session, sleeping in a fishing hut for 6 hours. I was fully warm and cozy when I went to bed, but I guess I got cold. So. In a situation where you're currently all fine, but a blizzard could hypothetically sneak up on you, what's the magic number, to make sure that even if you wake up freezing and losing condition, you know you WILL wake up? And I'm guessing that that number is different for Stalker and Interloper.
(I'm also assuming you're somewhere where you won't get wet, as I know that could change the equation)

I don't think there is necessarily a "perfect number" it depends on a lot of factors: difficulty, warmth due to clothing, weather condition, location, fire duration, total condition etc.

Hypothermia causes a massive 40% condition loss per hour. However it's only acquired after having hypothermia risk for 2hrs, which drains at 20% per hour. So the most you could theoretically sleep is only 3hrs if at full condition no matter the temperature, although you wouldn't have a lot of fun when you woke up

got a bug with snow shelters. Found one already existent near of clear cut/mystery lake, went in and I guess the bug was caused by reloading a revolver and switching to inventory. the view changed to the rear of the shelter and it was impossible to look around / get out of the shelter, had to quit the game and start from the last save checkpoint.

If you haven't already, submit a bug report with as much detail as you can provide

  8. Are you looking for advice as to if your processor can run the game?
If so more information would be helpful.

What generation of ryzen cpu, and do you have a graphics card? (if so, which and which generation)

A modern gen ryzen cpu should be able to run TLD at moderate frame rates

I found the Curator’s rifle in about the same spot.  I fixed it up and have been using it.  I have no way to know if it does more damage (maybe?), but the weight is the same.  It does look quite pretty, and I enjoy the sights.
anecdotally, I did take out a moose with it, took two shots.  Usually they charge after the first shot but this one ran away after I plugged him center mass first time.  Finished him off with another center mass shot.
I have hit deer and they ran off.  All wolves hit once have died instantly.

here is what the curator's rifle does differently if you're interested.

The curators' rifle is a direct upgrade to the stock rifle.

The only difference is that the curators can shoot from x2 the distance away compared to stock.

Aka the bullet travels x2 as far before stopping

  10. First-person animations are on the roadmap of new features, although I don't know if eating is one of them.
I believe the only ones mentioned include fire-starting and carcass harvesting

Found the Curator's Rifle on a dead guy by the gold mine in Ash Canyon, but it's in such terrible shape I haven't used it yet. Once I ransack the TWM Summit I'm gonna head to Blackrock to mill it back to health and see if it's any better than a regular rifle.

Edit: Has anyone managed to hang one of the new rifle variants on a rifle rack yet? The Curator's Rifle wouldn't slot into the one at Angler's in Ash Canyon, but I didn't have another rifle to compare so I'm not sure if it's a bugged rack, or if it's the rifle. And I don't see myself being at another location with a rifle rack for a while.

Yeah I reported it as a bug only the normal rifle goes on a rack still
