  1. My words are often: Code is law. "Not using" is kinda hard in the real hardship of Interlope (there's no punishment), much more than "not moving to another map"

The basic line is: remove healing during sleeping. It's exchanging the incentive to sleep long stretches (why that, anyway?) to fix the starvation hack. Playing it I've seen myself adapting my behavior to a more realistic lifestyle.

    Everything philosophical is in there:

And the new codes for last update are here :

There's also a custom code for Voyageur-sleepwalker you might want to try someday :)

Do wolves at least disappear with -80C?

Technically yes, since it's when there's a blizzard. Also, it's on late game anyway, so fewer wildlife

Just leather, but they decay so fast and their stats are so bad that keeping the 44% work was a better option

    - In the night I harvest my work gloves leather to try repairing my boots: I forgot it also needed cloth

    - Morning: after a short 8h heal, I take snared rabbits even if I won’t harvest them, go to the workbench finish the pants

    screen_7f444ac3-f073-4142-90da-edb423ce601f.thumb.png.53a99f3dc7a41d135d863ff3aa63c18f.png

    - Back in the shelter in an unnecessary Grandma’s fog, repair it, sleeping

    BareSkin32- D47 [Cinderella ]

    - Aurora night but I have nothing to do at the bench, and the auroras are not cold, so that’s a complete bad news to me

    - I should be waiting for the next blizzard to make the most water-for-a-match for fuel efficiency, but fuel is not a big deal given the coal renewal, so this -22° morning will be enough

    screen_dab8941e-e2fb-4f06-91e3-8e24123898dc_hi.thumb.png.718976b123bbfdd468c19fdbbecd234e.png

    - Since I don’t need to cook any more meat, I make my fire near the shelter, for the nice view.

    - 3 matches left. For 13 days, the sub-challenge seem compromised

    - I have to wait being at 8% health to be dehydrated, eat for free, sleep-heal 6h

    BareSkin32- D48 [Cinderella ]

    - With the crafted clothes, I can’t get to negative FL in the shelter (if there's no blizzard)

    - Hibernating all day long, but I notice the snares produces much less rabbits

    BareSkin32- D49 [Cinderella ]

    - Hibernating FTW

    BareSkin32- D50 [Cinderella ]

    - Wake up at 8%, but I still have 1/8th of thirst bar to deplete before eating, that’s roughly 1h30 of sleeping, so I sleep one more hour, to 7%

-I passtime if front of one of my 1kg-536calories rabbit steak, preparing for a good 8h heal

    - If heartbeat is terrifying on Loper+, it’s a nice company to have when hibernating in a shelter, with plenty of food and water

    screen_d25db3de-c24d-414a-aa5b-3753a7cdece7.thumb.png.aebea294b9142e8a1d4b9abc0a1bb359.png

    After

-Today is cold day (FL-2 in shelter), I need to be in the bedroll for not freezing

    - With my new life, I repair the 80% shelter (2 sticks)

    - I could live for maybe hundreds of day with my actual resources, just hibernating the way I do. The limiting factor is water (1 can!)

    - the 563 calories left me just enough starvation rest-penalty to continue hibernating (I guess the threshold is around 600cal/48h?), it’s so perfect I start to wonder if the cheating technique isn’t even there on purpose…

So, when people get that half red bar, they only eat for 4h and sleep 4h to keep the starvation penalty? Doesn't that limit them to sleeping 4h only then because if they sleep more then the bar will hit other bar and penalty will go away?

I've actually used it a lot in later days I didn't report yet (just played them right now), it seems you can follow a cycle for maximizing this bug, and REALLY, to anyone reader, don't read if you don't want Voyageur become a no-challenge for you:

1/ Starve until you get Rest penalty (you need a minimum equivalent of 1h of sleeping part red)

2/ Spend 24h sleeping, and lose 24% of your life. Stay hydrated, that's where the water plays a part: you need ~2L/24h

3/ Spend another 24h sleeping, lose 24% health again. Stay hydrated but keep the bar low.

4/ Once dehydrated, eat 540 calories (not much more), drink, sleep 8h: it heals for 52% while you've lost 48%

5/ Since you didn't eat too much, you still have the Rest penalty, so repeat from #1

Basic equation: For no health loss (actually+4%), you can "endlessly" survive for the price of 270 calories and 2L of water per day. Really cheap.

The technique works quite well on Interloper, but it involves running a lot for nothing, and the prices are higher of course, on resources that are much more limited. Plus, Hibernating on loper is not very smart, unless you want to be naked and defenseless on day 50, with temperatures reaching from -40°C to -80°C.

  6. Lol, no :D . The penalty on Rest bar appears when you starve for too long, it has actually nothing to do with being exhausted or not. The red penalty bar on fatigue is removed when you eat. It's not a bug, it's a mechanic that's in place to punish you for starving.

Let's go through it again, maybe in a simpler way:

    - Starvation is punished by having only half of your normal rest bar available (thus being usually overweighted)

    - Hibernating is prevented by "Rest as a resource" mechanic, that forbids you to sleep one you're fully rested

    - Since starvation punishment is actually preventing you to have a full Rest bar, you're never "fully rested", so "rest as a resource" mechanism doesn't trigger.

As a result, you can sleep all you want= hibernating (while sleeping your needs deplete slower than when awake). The only trick is to never eat too much despite needing the heal, in order not to lose the Rest penalty.

Where is the bug then? The game should say "you woke up fully rested", when the white part of your Rest meets the red one (the penalty). But because it is coded to trigger when rest is at 100%, it never happens and if you have 2L of water, you can sleep 24h in a row without a problem. (except you get -24% health from being starved)

I hope you get it now :). If you don't, just consider yourself blessed and enjoy Voyageur the way you do now!

See this red penalty I have on my Rest/Fatigue bar? (half of it is red, it's the maximum): I could sleep the 4/5h that it allows me, then sleep again 6h without being blocked to what should be a full rest bar (but I still have only 6h worth of Fatigue to spend), and THEN AGAIN, sleep all I want because the bar will actually never be full. That's a "bug" we could say, since it actually totally defeats the mere reason why "Rest as a Resource" (="You woke up fully rested" - "You're not tired enough to sleep") has been added to the game, i.e. to prevent people sleeping all they want.

But still, the first sin was to have an exponential sleeping heal curve. The reason was good - encourage people sleeping long stretches- but the implementation has led us to nasty consequences. Namely the reason why I usually now play sleepwalker mode instead of the regular Interloper.

  8. 19 hours ago, tulkawen said:

I'm not sure I understand though, what would be a bug then?

Because you're not supposed to be able to rest once you're fully rested. With this penalty on Rest bar, even if I should technically not be able to rest again, but since it's bugged, I can sleep 24h per day, provided I drink every 12h. The only limit is life bar, which is -24% everyday from starvation. Basically since my limiting resource is water, the bug allows me to consume less water (when sleeping) that what I would with the "passtime" function.

    - This day is actually started in the evening (snowshelter= sleeping during day), I harvest rabbits until maybe 10PM, then run to the shelter, passtime until the Rest penalty is back (doesn’t happen)

    BareSkin32- D44 [Cinderella ]

    - Daylight gives me Rest penalty, which I of course exploit, Code is law.

    - Only 1.17L water left, let’s hope there’s a good blizzard soon

    - Back in the mine with 2 more rabbits, I make a coal run (literally running, fatigue isn’t a concern) with storm lantern, in the whole mine back to where I’ve been cheated on: 21 coals.

    screen_9364a82b-9c41-4c53-9a3b-546f296ee36e.thumb.png.ace11eeda9e52fa526a367ce95b0669a.png

DesoPoint exits. I see Prince tried to force the door I locked with no success.I reinforce my lock and spit on the floor.

    - Craft the Mitts for 8h. 5H awake is 2/3 of thirst bar, means Voyageur awake consumption is 2L/day. THe rule of hibernation=-30% must also apply, since on Voyageur you can actually sleep 12h without dehydration

    - Craft 2 tackles and begin the deer pants

    - I hide 2 snared rabbits in the pickup before marmotting in my shelter, in hopes of a morning blizzard

    BareSkin32- D45 [Cinderella ]

    - At midnight I hear a free rabbit running and pray for it not to attract a wolf. I’ll kill it as soon as I can, just to make it silent.

    - 5AM, AT-24, not that cold but I can’t wait for watermaking

    - I notice I cook rabbit just for fun, I’m stacking meat for more than months compared to my actual Voyage-loper lifestyle. Need to stay starved to keep the hibernating bug

    - After a +5L water mid-morning, I go continue the deer pants

Oh I knew about the sleep thingy. But why are you calling it a 'resource'? This statement doesn't make sense. Is this simply a special name/terminology for sleep heal?

"Rest as a Resource" is the actual name this function is given in the Custom Settings. This is a resource, since if you don't have it, you can't heal. That's exactly why on interloper, where you often need the heal badly, you end up running stupidly around the place you'll be sleeping. The more exhausted you are, the longer you can sleep, the more heal you get. Once you have calories, basically exhaustion=healing.

I think it's been put in place to avoid people hibernating. If you ask me and go read the introductory post about my Sleepwalking mode, it's a huge flaw in design that act as cover up for a broken sleep-healing system. Now, in addition of me thinking it's a flaw, I also actually know it's bugged thanks to Cinderella (else I would never have known)

  11. BareSkin32- D40 [Cinderella ]

    - After this morning fire, I’m swimming in rabbit meat. I didn’t even have to touch the civilized food/drinks. 6 matches left. If I play dehydration I might, maybe, see the end with only 12 matches? There’ll be some maths to do.

    - I rush in the shelter to beat the rest-penalty from starvation as much as I can (3h), and find 2 more rabbits (1 snare ruined)

    - Since I have nothing to do in this weather, I end up discovering a bug: Rest as a Resource is non-functional when you have a Rest penalty. I guess the game is checking whether or not you are at 100% of this need to wake you up, and since you can’t go there…

-Code is Law, so I happily use this bug to reduce water consumption, which is my main concern if I want to survive 20 more days on 6 matches only

    BareSkin32- D41 [Cinderella ]

    - Actually, the rest penalty is so useful I should take care about not removing it. Marmot Challenge!

    https://www.earthwatch.org/Portals/0/A_Images/News/og/climate-change-affects-marmot-populations.jpg

I'm never going out of my shelter

    - After repairing Shelty, I did literally nothing except sleeping. 1.48L water left at dusk when a blizzard forces me out of the Shelter (FL-5). Had I kept the Bareskin Bedroll, I could have stayed, but I decided not to use it and left it in the mine locker.

    - At dusk, since AT is now at -31 under blizzard and my campfire place is shielded, I for once decide to spend a match not in a morning, to benefit for the full cold bonus (mornings are only -25ish on Voyageuse)

    - I only spend sticks, which I usually forbid myself to do, but I don’t want to lose 3h of fire when the winds decided to turn

    screen_b6af3190-564e-41e0-9c84-4e2f5e1e0dd0.thumb.png.e14357a5d7e179cba84e2cf964f21994.png

    - Calculations predict that for each stick I get 1*7.5*+50%=11.25 min nominal fire time, that become 22.5 real minutes thanks to cold bonus. Thanks to cooking bonus each 0.5L cycle takes 37.5*-30%=26.25minutes, so each 2 sticks is roughly 1L water (actually 0.86)

-That’s the first time I hope for a blizzard not to end… I babysit this fire until blizzard ends at midnight (AT back to -17) , then keep feeding it since fuel is more abundant than matches in my own sub-challenge

    - That was only 1h of blizzard :( Not sure my match has been well spent.

    - Back in the shelter with 4.98L water (+3.5L) (all rabbit cooked of course). 5 Matches left.

    BareSkin32- D42 [Cinderella ]

    - Marmot challenge, as the morning is not particularly cold.

    screen_5227465a-9f2c-48ab-b712-2974c3cdff4d.thumb.png.b95d169854187320d33912f59291597f.png

    - I try not to get Thirst bar too high, in case I decide to eat rabbit soon

    - Health 27%  in the evening, I’ll have to eat tomorrow, and health before going for fuel hunting.

    BareSkin32- D42 [Cinderella ]

    - Aurora sounds when I sleep, but when I wake up around midnight it’s already over, health 16% so I’ll have to eat around noon last chance since I’ll be around 4%

    - At 4AM, I unfortunately can’t stay in the shelter despite being ready for healing (water+food nearby), it’s too cold for the embedded cloth bedroll (FL-3)

    - Health 10% around 7AM

    - Back in the mine I harvest guts from the snared rabbits waiting for the outside temperatures to be bearable in the shelter,

    - I run back the Shelty, I can now hear my heartbeat, 9%.

    screen_dfd87402-6760-4708-986b-84414e49d181.thumb.png.46a4ec50180207471ee4c20ac1fe6c1c.png

    - FL-2 when I wake up around 4AM, sleep 1 more hour for more Rest

    - 5 AM, even the cloth bedroll + shelter combination won’t keep me in positive FL, I exit, grab the frozen rabbit (don’t care, harvest 5), and to the mine for a full day of crafting even though there’s no light at the workbench...

    - All deer hides are cured but I have only 6 guts and my priority are snares. I spend Lamp oil to get to the bench, craft 4 snares, make 2 tackles, craft a rabbit hat. I find 2 respawned coal

    - I want to repair the work boots, but it needs 1 cloth I don’t have anymore

    - New snared rabbit, I leave it here and place my 4 additional snares

    - I go for starved sleeping to beat the starvation Rest penalty, since I don’t need more health

    - Around midnight, I repair my work gloves in the moonlight for mending training (I’ll craft mitts). 2 tries, 1 fail

    BareSkin32- D39 [Cinderella ]

    - Aurora night! I take the frozen rabbit and go straight to the bench with 2 more cured guts

    - 2 more snares, grab 4 new rabbits (1 ruined snare), it’s 6AM and very cold so I let the free running bunny alive for now, but with 3 scent bar in aurora, the poor guy pays the nearby wolf anger

    - I process them inside until noon, there will be a lot of cooking involved tomorrow morning!

    I will need friends soon

    - For now it’s sleeping time, don’t care about the snow storm, it’s not a blizzard and I’m nicely sheltered in my home

    - I’m barked at on my way, and run into the blue pickup, FL-6, I can wait in there. Actually I enter past noon, the temperature immediately rises to FL+1 so I sleep in the car

    - Shelter at 76%, 3 sticks to repair, I’m lucky it didn’t ask for cloth. I must be more careful if I don’t want to lose the cargo pants to soon

My favourite tactic. ^_^ Although, I swear sometimes these wolves purposefully hide in the rosehips bushes and also put snow atop of themselves for better cover. They appear literally out of the ground.

I play with an ear-covering headset, it helps a lot, as a wolf is nearly always making footsteps noises. I also carefully check the ground for footprints.

    - I passtime until noon waiting for the guts to be turned into snares. Starved and exhausted, 50% health, but good news: it’s sleeping time

    screen_6d04f038-25f7-4ddd-9470-6e662e409336.thumb.png.a3bdb253ee1ab5190e25719829f2e11d.png

    - I place my snares, eat 600 calories, and go for a 9h sleep in FL+6 shelter bonus, from 51% back to 100%

    BareSkin32- D37 [Cinderella ]

    - I’m low on water: there’ll be a need for a fire this morning.

    - Sleep 3 more hours to top up my Rest bar that suddenly became important.

    - At 4AM, it’s still FL+1 in the Shelter (without bedroll)

    - I do some maintenance on the Shelter (2 sticks) cause I don’t have more cloth. It was around 85%, I decide I’ll keep it above 80%

    - It’s now FL0+ in Shelty, since my clothing bonus is +5, it means outside is -20°, time for my 2-sticks firewood

    - both snares did trigger, but already 1 is ruined. I take only the meat (indoors) and start my fire. I have to use fir firewood, since I had only 17 sticks in here, and used them all on the Shelter. That’s only 95% chance but it works: 2h+ fire going on

    screen_403f35b4-5320-40b4-a66d-31b57845874c.thumb.png.e5bd6c569043c533110b906d2d6bb1f1.png

    - I transfer to Harris, get barked at, run into the basement for 3 cured guts + 3 others nearly cured (93+), I decide I’ll wait them to cure and transfer back in the afternoon to the shelter recentralizing all my loot (except 10 sticks and the smellies in the backpack outside cause of the wolf) in the Mine

    - I brake 4 branches on my way, in a nice FL-5 evening. One rabbit is snared, but if I process it now I lose precious sleeping time. I replace the snare and leave the carcass there, I don’t want smellies on me while in the shelter

    - OMG the Bareskin Bedroll can be used inside the shelter? It’s a real sauna @FL+13… I don’t miss my shirt.

    - Now that I’m living in a shelter my lifestyle has to completely change: I transfer some calories near the shelter cause I need avoid exhaustion tomorrow morning when crafting snares

    - I eat 200+ calories and sleep 3h in my shelter

    - It’s aurora sounds when I wake up! Tonight I’ll loot the Mine again for new coal. I’ll bring the 2 first guts and let them cure near the workbench for tomorrow morning snares.

    - I could sleep more, but I don’t want to be outside in an aurora, I fear I’ll get chased as soon as I pick a piece of meat

    - Once in the mine I passtime until the lights show me the way. I grab the lantern, metals, gut and reclaimed

    - No new coal, so I brake the crates near the workbench. I passtime, refraining myself from using the BB since it's now forbidden to use it.

  17. I have to apologize, for whatever reason the entry for day 34 didn't make it to the forums (I redacted it, maybe forgot to post it?), and I've deleted the entry in my Journal, so you'll get only the left screenshots with main ideas:

Brought back the pelts in the Mine, and read a good advice from a Backer

Went for hunting rabbits, but there's no more. Found some fuel, and a cloth I didn't see yet. The fourth.

That's Harris dryer, the fuel situation is fine. 2 blizzards today showed me I overestimated the fuel risk on this mission, blizzard gives lots of branches. I'm thinking about spicing things up with forbidding indoor sleeping. I hate this 9% porkandbeans I can't turn into a second can

The blizzards forced me in Harris for most of the day

I like to keep a personal log in TLD even more than I do IRL, but it looks like I just reached the end its capacity. The typing field simply stopped taking anything else. Is there a way save the old entries externally so I can clear it and continue? Anybody know where/how those notes are stored? Thanks.

Happened to me when I wanted to publish my journals during 4 days of Night. I think nothing can be done about it. I now double-screen an Open Office window.

    - I wake up around 3AM in aurora lights, health 52%

    screen_aff0816a-e718-489b-adf0-ed459160b494.thumb.png.9c913bae01f4231504b776aac816e4c9.png

-I have to wait a bit before going make my fire outside, and I wish I were in the mine for a second coal sweep

    - I dress as an account manager (you know, with this nice golfing hat): 3 guts in the mine +6 here, total 9. 3 rabbit pelts curing = 1 hat (8 guts left), 3 deer skins= 1 pant (boot are the same price - 4 guts - and I already have some). 1 gut for making 2 tackles, that’s 3 guts left for snares, it’s good enough for starting since I believe I will also encounter other free rabbits.

    - Thinking it’s been 48h I’m in there, and I have spent only 2 matches for materials giving 3 snares+hat+boots, I’m quite proud.

    - Temperature outside is already low enough to allow my 2-sticks technique (AT-25 @3AM, it’s a cold morning day), so I go for it since you never have too much water and I have a bit of raw meat to cook too. 9 matches left.

    screen_4ea7f05f-f12a-409f-aa33-79a90e6a5829_hi.thumb.png.6948caf39134dd9e6f56dacb0e026a8e.png

-Cold bonus science: my fire loses 17’ nominal minutes during a water cycle of 38’. Since I’m at Fire5, those 38 realtime minutes should have cost my fire only 38/(1+0.5)=25.3 nominal minutes without taking the cold bonus into account. Since it took only 17 of these, that’s a 25.3/17-1=49% bonus from the cold bonus. Reverse way: 17*(1+0.5)*(1+0.49)=38. So, Formula is simple RealtimeDuration=Nominal*(1+Kfireskill)*(1+Kcold).

    - Since these coefficients are composite and not additive (would be RD=N*(1+Ksk+Kcold), and it's not), it means the more Fire Skill you have, the more you benefit the cold bonus (and vice versa of course)

    - Here’s my science about this, remember those kind of measure is a bit sketchy in nature (temperatures changes, wind directions changes neglecting the cold bonus, etc). Better precision can be achieved with cooking 1kg steaks, but I’m at cooking 5 so boiling is my best way in this run (the Fire skill has been removed by calculus). TL,DR: doesn't matter unless you're in a morning or a blizzard (-20°C).

    image.png.407798e87223059b44f61a8969d19f18.png

    - Yes, I recorded an AT-43 in Voyageur (morning blizzard), I was surprised myself since that's around Interloper temperatures.

    - At around 7AM, the fire dies (remember, 2 sticks+1 coal from 4AM) and I go inside sleep a bit before the Rest penalty comes to full

    - Late morning, the howlings come from the lower part of the map: I cross to the Mine, braking 2 branching on my way and looting the green metal box for the Jackpot: 44% leather shoes (nice for repairing work ones), and… a 90% TUKE guys and gals!

    screen_a47eba1f-fc4f-4a46-8dac-3acf6350ec1b.thumb.png.e745e9eda79d8dbaa530f27acb72fc8f.png

    - I was already a Queen, what is better? An Alien Queen maybe?

    - I can’t believe my luck, could it even go better? Yes! A free rabbit present into into my stones just before I enter the mine.

    - I even allow myself braking branches frozen before entering, cause tonight is healing night

    - When the 1.3kg rabbit is harvest, my health is at 38%. Harvest the shoes (2 leathers) waiting for afternoon, but of course can’t repair the ones I have

    - Brake the mine entry cave for free (+4 reclaimed, total 10)

    - Afternoon stick run ends up in snapping yet another rabbit. Can't go harvest fuel anyway, since the place is now patrolled

    screen_474f6e67-c491-48bb-9755-997507722ee4.thumb.png.2549c3a35e8195c7ab089438d84a68ef.pngscreen_56150bae-25c8-4656-9eba-14b330369b4c.thumb.png.14bd315aa871300bbff976b73387b1e5.png

You can see it too, right?

    - As per my Master Plan Point Number 10, I prepare for a nice healing night #3: I have more than 1000 calories from the first deer, a bedroll, a shelter: we’re good. I just have to stupidly spent a Sprint bar to spend Rest.

    - Before I go to bed (680 calories needed), I realize I didn’t eat anything since I’m in OIC. I bet I could go until at least day 15 with only the animal meat I have. Didn’t even touch civilized food yet. I have 7.5kg cooked meat in the 2 backpacks near indoor places (+2 uncooked rabbits)

    screen_304d9627-d814-482e-a00b-049542c3f862.thumb.png.9f81890b4eb93ec9b5b54276c38c89dc.pngscreen_d5db61f2-ced8-41c4-954c-e851d4733e69.thumb.png.a4fedda757259315e29e218fc06f5917.png

-10h sleep-heal from 32% to 98% (6.6%/h), just in between a cloth bedroll and the Riken/Hibernia beds. I’m all fixed!

Maybe don't use your deer skins right away

I will turn them into pants as soon as I can: 44% work boots will last 30 days easily since I found running shoes, I'll repair the work ones with the leather. Replacing the boots would give me +1.5° total (can't stack two boots and the leather would be useless), adding a deerskin pants on outer shell will give +3.5 (+4 -0.5, cargo are very bad outer), also the pants are 60% protection and the boots are 50% only. And I'd like to keep cloth, in case, you know, I decide I need to spice things up a bit and make a Shelter...

That's where my Interloping nature comes against me: I was thinking struggle=death and didn't keep any defensive weapon. You gave me a very nice advice and I'll grab one back, even if my best weapon is still "avoidance at all cost" policy.

    - I wake up around 5AM with 86% of my life, and immediately head to the carcass, -21°C, snowing without winds (yet)

    - I hear the howling near the Arch, maybe I won’t go there in the afternoon after all

    - I was right in my calculations: 2 sticks are enough to make the 30minutes of fire needed for the coal! 10 matches left from the initial box.

    - The deer has only 0.6kg of meat, but I’m here for the others parts, right? Everything goes as planned: 1 match, 2 sticks, 1 coal give me water, pelts, guts and meat. 10 matches left from the first box.

    screen_b3300b88-fd95-4fa2-9e94-f28daefd2b16.thumb.png.1a03a0828ab4c874deb6d068b36056dc.png

    - I now have 5 curing guts, the biggest part of the start is done. Now is more about waiting and managing time and resources.

    - Snap another rabbit, and run into Harris with growling in my back. Or maybe it’s the winds

    - I drop the crowbars, don’t need them anymore. Ever.

    - Winds too strong to go far, and at noon I harvested all nearby branches: sleep1h

    - Early afternoon, FL-11: I go for the Arch cave, and I’ll be back to Harris because of wold avoidance policy, and raw meat to cook tomorrow morning2

    - The beach gives 1 stick, 1 cloth, 2 others sticks I don’t grad because of weak ice distance being too large

-Arriving at the Arch, what do I see? Another deer carcass! It’s knife-carved “Have fun” on it, signed @Czhilli. I know where to go for my tomorrow morning fire. I’m careful not to click the carcass for it not to disappear before tomorrow morning

    - The cave gives 3 shrooms, OMB I don’t take (can’t be eaten, already have 2 blessings), 1 prokandbeans, 8 coals

    - I wonder if the deer carcass can’t be processed at least a bit (pelt?), since I’m at FL-3. Will I be greedy? I’ve already been too greedy in the past and paid with my life (Bareskin7 day 99).

    screen_b328b2e6-f023-4797-950c-d0729662b8e9.thumb.png.e00364637b0481c1a60a60a0ee79bf24.png

Part of being good at TLD, is not being greedy

    - I decide I'm bareskin32, that's 24 Interloper+ survival games of experience since Bareskin7: greedy, I will be.

    - Since the howling are at the other side of the Arch, I fully harvest (1.7kg) and run back towards Harris with 2 scent bar, ready to share my loot with a wolf

    screen_33da4be1-0d64-4f24-b7e7-2b2bd69bebde.thumb.png.22360995987e19b8dc5297537cb21be7.png

That's where my Cargo Pants got wet. Good news, there's made for it.

    - The full harvest without fire (too fuel-inefficient and don’t want to spend a match) is paid with 20% hyporisk when I make it into the basement wetting my pants in fear of a struggle, health is down to 62%, but I know my third night will be on calories so it’s still quite OK

    - My rest bar is starting to be penalized for starving, so I go right away for a 9h starved sleep before it drops too low

I don't know about bearskin bedrolls. Is +12C good or bad?

A new Cloth on is +3°, a bed is usually +5°. A Snow Shelter is +15°C. So yeah, it's very good, since you can move it.

Well that depends on what you classify as a "normal bed".

This is true, when I tried to test the sleeping curve before Sleepwalking, I had different curves for Milton Plane cave, Trailer, and Gray Mother bed... strange but anyway, in sleepwalking it doesn't matter.

    BareSkin32- D31-Morning31 [Cinderella ]

    - I read the plan but don’t care much about the OMBL for now: I can't hear the foosteps anymore, my goal is a deer carcass.

    - I see a lot of branches I can’t care about (my third torch is burning), I eventually find 3 sticks before arriving in front of the Mountain Cave

    - The carcass is here, and I’m still alive! From here, I can heat the howling is from either the Arch or Harri’s road, good for me, very lucky start.

    - Start the watermaking, harvest both burnt torches, grab all meat (1.2kg) cause I’m Harvest 5.

    - Perfect timing: I’m at with the carcass meat in hands exactly at 6AM

    screen_ee0e42b9-a8b5-4a28-92ff-617bc23d3111.thumb.png.f836b9f157e056a47fe622ef50ac82c6.png

    True life

    - New water cycle, 1 kg meat cooking: I go for the skin (28 minutes barehands with Harvest 5)

    - Next water cycle, a gut (28’), and again for the second gut.

    screen_f3af9fb7-6ab9-4c72-b929-4e493b1534f3.thumb.png.c51222520e73cf408eea79ef25ef4afa.png

    - In the nearby cave, 2 fir and 1 cedar, I drop the guts in there to start curing

    - I’m overweighted because I’m stupid: I didn’t drop coals and stones before leaving, I’ll have the go back to the mine when ther fire is finished

    - Anyway, the fire didn’t maintain me above FL0 (I’m at -4) because of windchill, so I can’t go to Harri’s, it’s too far

    - I grab steaks and guts back and when the last water making cycle is begun, I leave it finish alone and run back to the mine.

-I’ll have to come grab that can back in the afternoon, but no biggie: since it’s the nowolf zone for today, I’ll be there for branches anyway

    - I lose 6% health to hyporisk in the process, but gain 9 sticks and a reclaimed near the burnt house (didn’t open the metal box there)

-I drop all the curables on the floor, and stones/coals in the lockers, harvest the mittens

    - I fill the Storm Lantern and put it on a shelf, total 1.31L available for navigating the Mine later

    - Sleep 1h for warmup, with the Bareskin Bedroll it fills all my warmth bar! Incredible!

    - head outisde, it’s snowing (-17°C @11AM = normal day), grab 3 OMBL, 2 shrooms and a Metal, then to the blue Pickup: 3 sodas, no rabbit.

    - Free rabbit (=guts without snares) are the precious money in the early stage, matches later.

    - Too cold, my 4 needs are low, back in the mine I craft the Reishi and 2 OMBs, and sleep 3h while I’m not starved, that gets me to the mid-afternoon Interlopers and Naked Voyageuse cherish so much.

-Since I didn’t eat, I didn’t think about drinking enough before sleep: -2% health.

-Mid afternoon, AT-8, I keep the moutain close to me while going toward the Junction (snwoy passage towards Harris)

    - After 2 branches, strong winds: I can’t harvest fuel anymore and have to Rush into Harris Basement after grabbing my can back, and snapping a lonely rabbit at Junction who forgot to go back home before blizzard.

    screen_7534c0e4-7e09-4b94-a475-1426100e0936.thumb.png.b1863cd262ef11969ec15aad2b8d24cf.png

-I immediately fully harvest the fat 1.5kg rabbit (1h18)

-Harris loot: Accelerant, useless newsprint, flare, 20 matches, woot! 1 stim (nice), 1 bandage (nice too, I could potentially survive a Struggle now), another useless prybar, a very nice 0.99L Jerry can for the storm lamp, 1 reclaimed, a very nice thin wool sweater for covering my b00bs, dress hsirt and Cargo pants in the washer! I can even cover my 4ss, very nice! 1 useless metal, 20 more matches in the tools drawer! I’m a Queen!

-Overall that's a very nice loot, since I found 3 pieces of clothing and matches.

    screen_a37c6b23-66f7-4a73-846c-401a39db1f26.thumb.png.6b9f8afe066d099b734e58ef93c6df4c.png

This picture calls for a Rabbitskin Hat, ain't it? Thank God @Hinterland, we now can

-Outside the basement, I drop the raw meat, 12 more matches in a backpack, sardines, 1 reclaimed, the corpse is empty.

    - Before nightfall, I go check the presence of nearby carcass for tomorrow morning, it’s here and I also find a coal on my way, the red car gives beef jerky, a note and Frozen Angler, I force the trunk to find Painkillers (priceless!) and a soda.

    screen_89eb9fd1-3fd8-40d9-a30f-dcdc8816bb55.thumb.png.788974b04073a0eae2f5e27bf5f7389f.png

    Can you see it too?

    - Before going for a 9h-sleep, I don’t eat: the meat is too precious. I'll wake up at around 90% health, which is fine.
