Snow, as a resource

Snow is the most abundant thing in The Long Dark. And yet you cannot do anything with it. The “snow shelter” is not even made of snow. It is 15 sticks and 5 cloth. It would be cool if you could make actual snow shelters, or igloos, or snowmen, or clear snow that is blocking a gate.

I agree.. I'd love to make igloos,and snowmen and snowballs to throw at the wolves😊

I think that the snow shelter uses snow is a given and just not animated, much like going outside to get snow and put it into a container each time to melt for water isn't animated.  The sticks and cloth used are merely used to support the blanket of snow that would be shovelled on top. 

Igloos would require that ice blocks be cut and would assume the snow depth to be sufficient to allow for such compaction of the snow pack.  They are meant to be a more long-terrm shelter, so perhaps if we are ever allowed to actually build our own bases.

Snowballs might be fun, but I don't see them as really being practical or really different enough from tossing rocks to personally care whether they add them to the game or now.

I love the idea of igloos!  I have suggested them before.  As @UpUpAway95 restated, for a long-term base.

Snowballs with stones in really hurt,trust me I've had a few incidents myself..  not including ducking to avoid one and cutting my eyelid on the fence I ducked into..😁.   They'd work a treat on wolves..
