Hatchet in PV

Trying to gather up firewood for the community hall survivors. I’ve looked high and low for the hatchet, yet to no avail! Any would be good samaritans our there willing to help a frozen soul find warmth??

I remember scoring a hacksaw pretty early, I think in one of the houses in Thomson's Crossing... but I don't think I found a hatchet until a few game days in - think it may've come from either the prepper's cache or from the barn/shed between the farmstead and Three Strikes.

You may find one around the big barn, as well. I remember finding one in Survival that was sitting in a crate with a piece of firewood.

In Pleasant Valley (if you're willing to go on a little walkabout) you can easily pick up 120-150 sticks in a single afternoon.  You don't really need a hatchet or hacksaw to get fire wood

Also there's a hatchet in Molly's barn... it was propped up against the burn barrel.

There is no need to cut down wood. Besides sticks and coal you can break down boxes. Plus there is lots of fire wood in the prepper caches. Do that side quest. It also gets you tons and tons of food. One of the prepper caches has several fire logs even.

You can also use a hacksaw to saw limbs. Takes quite long though
