Why is the bear spear not available in survival mode?

Hopefully we can see it make an entry into Survival Mode someday.

If you had a bow, you'd never go after a bear with a spear. You'd be better off falling on it instead. A bear is 300 pounds of mean, grumpy claws.

We've got snares, why can't we make a simple claw trap?

Hopefully till the December update will get some info, ive been craving some spearing since finishing REDUX

Bear spear would be awesome. It would not make bears too easy just make a bear fight the same as the fight on wintermute by the radio towers.

I think it would be cool to be added to survival mode. It would be just like attacking wolves. You have to rapid click to win the fight. You do lose health as the battle progresses in Wintermute, but I think on survival mode the health loss should be instant and faster, like with wolves. It would make it harder. Then the bear would run off, just like a wolf would, and you would have to find its carcass later. In my opinion, that's harder than using a gun and a car. I don't think it would be too easy.

But wasn't it said in a Dev Diary several years back that the spear would eventually make it to survival mode? I could be wrong though.

It was the intention of the devs to bring the Bear Spear to survival mode.  It was something that seemed perfectly reasonable to do.  I suspect that implementation proved to be a more complex and involved process  and likely problematic than they had thought it would be at the time.
