Norfolkhero
Just wondering if there is anyway of plying the older version's of the long dark and if there is I would like to know how to do it. I have the game on steam.
Turbolovers
It seems to me that such a remote "rollback" is impossible. Well, if only one of the developers will pity you on your request. They will send you the game on a floppy disk. In 2014, the game weighed about 400 mb.
selfless
GOG.com used to offer rollback options for its clients. I don't know much about it. I'm not one of them.... EDIT: turns out Steam has the ability to rollback too. It's just frowned upon.
cekivi
The only way I know to do this is through GOG. The only GOG player I know who has talked about it is @Blinkin
Blinkin
Hahaha that's right Cekivi. You've a good memory. xD From version 0.302 and upwards it was possible to keep installing those versions. I say 'was' because it is necessary to download the installers as Hawk has explained perfectly. In GOG Galaxy you can always revert to a few versions even if you just bought the game. But not all versions are available forever. You can do this from the game page -> More -> Settings -> Override features. Currently you can chose about the following versions: - 1.21 - 1.19 - 1.12 - 1.05 - 1.032178 (this is the version from 5 months ago) Being able to play version 0.426 is neat, although you do required to have downloaded this installer in the past. Also keep note that save games aren't playable if you downgrade (I've never tried but I'm pretty sure it would mess up things badly). You can however run a second installation of a different version of TLD alongside another one if you install them in separate folders. You only need to make sure you remember which save runs on which version.

Patrick Carlson
Hello everyone - just as a reminder, like other hacks of the game, circumventing Steam's build management system isn't supported and those posts will be removed, as they were in this thread. Thank you for your understanding.

Norfolkhero
I wish they would do it like paradox where they have a few stable builds just before a major change
cekivi
There was a "retro" event last year where for a week you could play the original version of the game from the Coastal Highway update. Whether Hinterlands will add that as an option to the game or run the event again is anyone's guess.
selfless
Or you could just search the web for a how to and go get it yourself.
