One Really Pressing Question

I finally got through the end through bugs and unexpectedness.  There is just one thing that is bothering me so much....

In Broken Railroad at the Hunting Lodge... when I was in the basement the phone rang. I couldn't get to it in time to answer...... did anyone answer it?  What happened?

I heard it, and got a heart attack, but I didn't find the phone in time... Pretty creepy...

Me too it scared the crap out of me.

A phone ringing in The Long Dark is the LAST thing one would expect....

I tested it a few times. The phone is upstairs next to the front door. You aren't supposed to answer it. If after you hear it you make a beeline to the phone it stops abruptly before you can reach it. 

It sort of gets explained later.

That's good to know. I wondered the same thing too but I'd forgotten all about it till now.

Did somebody we know in the sandbox actually make the call futing the aurora? Or was it just a weird aurora thing the devs put in to spook us.

Jeremiah talks about how you could somewhat find out who it was if you find a switchboard. Anyone had any luck with that?
