I have to admit that I am not completely sure if this is serious or not, but I will just assume that it is:

There are a lot of other ways to pass time without cards. Humans have imagination for several reasons, and this is one of them.

Maybe you are simply counting them and waiting for the wind to die down--then back to Solitaire?

Perhaps the player should play a ditty on a harmonica when in circumstances that prevent card playing,
