TheRealNFK
I was searching online for images and video of various float planes when I stumbled on this video. It's about twenty minutes, but really worth watching if you have any interest in aviation or the Canadian North.

I believe we see the de Havilland Beaver in action as well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilland_Canada_DHC-2_Beaver

Patrick Carlson
Yeah that was just my guess by the look of the plane. Thanks for the heads up and the additional reading. I'll check it out. I'm not any kind of pilot but I love all things aviation.
cekivi
That was a very interesting video from the NFB. Too bad bush planes are slowly fading into history...
hauteecolerider
It's interesting that most of those old planes were the Norsemen - I was watching a documentary (Unsolved Mysteries or something like that) about the disappearance of Glenn Miller. They talked about the plane he was in - you guessed it - a Norseman, and the problems plaguing this type of plane, even though it was a tough old bird popular with many bush pilots. Just don't fly it in freezing rain!

cekivi
There's also still bush pilots and small plane operators to support communities and industries that do not have year round ocean or road access
