  1. Does anyone have any good tips on how to level up mending faster? I have already read every sewing primer that spawned in my run, and fixed my clothes and gear a couple times, and im still at level 3...

    Rabbits

We could in theory be able to catch them or trap them, and breed them at our safehouse to have a semi-stable food source. A small fenced area or cages outside would do the job to keep them in, under the condition that there is a roof, since they get hunted by predatory birds and small critters like martens or foxes. Another cool thing that would enable, would be the ability to do some selective breeding to get more yeild from the rabbit on average, though sticking to a simple system of just having some rabbits outside and breeding them for food would be enough

    Pet rabbit

I like the idea, but I dont want it as a "pet" instead, having and breeding rabbits for a semi- stable food source should be a thing, and along with that they could add rabbit starvation, it is a condition where rabbit meat, when you only eat that, fills you up but gives little to none sustinence, Im pretty sure its known as protein poisoning as well. Having them at home would be a bit troubling, so keeping them in a small enclosure outside would make sence, anything from a small wire fencing to cages could work, provided there is a roof. Keep in mind that they get hunted by predatory birds and small critters like martens or foxes, so we would also need some fixes to those kinds of issues. I would also love to see selective breeding. Breeding specyfic rabbits to get more yeild over time. There are still many things worth mentioning for keeping rabbits, but I guess I said enough

    Rowboat

Getting lost at sea and then a blizzard starts... I see a boat having a great use in fishing coatal areas, more fish in the deeper waters, but with risk of no shelter, and travel to distant small islands could be possible, we have seen this in wintermute
  5. The bruising affliction, just taking away some condition for being a dummy

    Feral dogs

Mans best friend turned into a feral animal, they would mostly stick to rural areas, either alone or in small packs, stealing rabbits from snares, eating at carcasses etc. It could add some interactions. If a wolf is eating a deer, you know what to do pretty much, if a dog is doing so, what then? Will it attack? Will it run? Will it share? Maybe you can bait it out, make a Bond and officialy "partner up" because you wouldnt really tame a Wild animal, instead you would join or make a pack. It could help you hunt, warn you from predators and sometimes scare them off and it would be a loyal companion I can see the big issue with adding a potential "companion" the long dark is a game mostly about solitude, just you and nature, adding a dog could break the immersion.

    misc things

So far, pretty much everything we put on our character will be displayed on the survivor in our journal, but there are some items that are just left out, and we cant see them on our survivor these include: Moose hide satchel Ptarmigan down insulation layer Security chief rifle holster And the foreman tool belt These items are for some reason not visible on our character when we equip them. Nothing game breaking but its bugging me a bit

    Pouch

A small pouch made from rabbit pelts, used to hold small ammounts of items at a time, it cuts their weight by a set ammount of % Ammunition, fishing gear, and other (not big ) trinkets Im thinking a early game moose hide satchel, something that gives you a tiny boost in carry capacity in the early game
  9. I hope we will be able to do that in the update that brings safehouse customisation. There are just so many places to call home, but they are full of snow inside
  10. The message we have been stuck with for the past eight years Goes like "you crashed your plane in remote canadian wilderness, how far will you go to survive?" I like it but I think it might be a bit generic, what im thinking is we get diffrent messages depending on where we spawn, or it can be randomised. For example: If we spawn in a region with sea access: "You were a fisherman and crashed your boat" Or in rural regions like pv: "You fought for independence of your island from the mainland, you got what you asked for" Just some simple stuff for more of a rp and lore purpose
  11. We already can do that of course, the only thing we need is some stones scattered here and there, but I would still like more ways to hunt early on in my runs. Snares: A nice way to change things up would be a diffrent way to use or make snares. The snares should have a easier crafting recipe, that wouldnt include guts, to make it usable for your first week, so in addition, a option to make a snare with wires would also be welcome. Rabbit holes: With a addition of these small burrows we could do some intresting things. These small holes would appear in rabbit groves that we already have. It would make using snares easier, just put one above the hole and If a rabbit Goes in or out, it chokes and leaves you with a meal. Also, if a rabbit runs away, by any reason, it will make its way to its den, so a tactic of setting up a snare and scaring the rabbit into running to its death could be implemented. And a mechanic of a wolf smelling a hiding rabbit and trying to get it would also be a nice wildlife interaction A rabbit stick: Its a primitive tool, used to hunt small game. You can use it from a impressive distance, by throwing it from a far and letting it glide through the air, ultimately hitting a rabbit or ptarmigan with enough force to kill or stun it for a while. It would aggro a wolf if aimed, and would scare it off if thrown, it could also be used in struggles, but wouldnt be too effective. A slingshot: A tool well known to most people, it is actually a strong tool for primitive hunts on small game, it would make stones hit much harder and from a bigger distance, killing small game and spooking medium sized animals Fire hardened arrows: We already have them in the game, and they are awesome for hunting small critters, but they should realistically be able to badly wound a animal if shot in the right area, many primitive cultures used fire hardened Arrow tips to hunt big game, before they had access to flint arrowheads. My idea is they wouldnt be as good as the base arrows, but they should deal a set ammount of damage without bleed. There are also many more things to cover, but these ideas should be enough to concider
  12. That is a good idea in my book, ive had loper runs where I could not find a bedroll, even after i got a bow and pelt clothes etc, so making your own bedroll would really make sence to me. It should be hard to make but of course nothing too hard, to make it fair. You should only have a bunch of cloth at hand and some stuffing like ptarmigan down to make the bedroll insulated and warm, but of course not better then the normal one, and it should tear or use faster, since all of the early game crafted pieces of gear tend to have that going on
  13. I have to agree on that, but probably smithing a weaker crowbar would be better fitting.
  14. Making a bed would be nice, aspecially in the regions like hushed river, but we already have the snow shelter we can use, and carrying 5 pieces of cloth or ripping up your clothes if you have to, will still be way easier then dragging pelts just to make a bed... Im not saying that the idea is bad, just that it would be overshadowed by things that already exist
  15. It would be nice if we could have a warm, wool blanket as a item we can find. It would give more warmth both in the safety of our bed and during a stop in a long trip. Additionaly i think that a craftable bedroll liner made out of thick, warm pelts would also come in handy
