  1. I wouldn't really call myself "active". I suppose I'm basically a lurker with an account. 🙂 I've been on the TLD Steam forum since like 2018, answering the occasional question and stuff, but mostly lurking. Guess I'm the quiet type in general? Anyway, as the years passed, the environment over there got progressively worse—Steam's enshittification, and also more trolls/haters than there used to be. So I finally took the plunge a few months ago and now mostly lurk here instead. What I like here: You all are really nice! 💛 What I don't like: Still struggling with the forum software here. I find it a bit difficult to follow along with new posts in topics that interest me. (Not looking for advice about that; just mentioning it.) Maybe it's just because I'm used to the way other forums I frequent work? Hmm. Maybe, eventually, I'll get used to how this software works...
  2. Hmm. Torches with higher condition being more wind-resistant would indeed be interesting!
  3. I don't think TLD can handle items with higher condition that 100%. So in effect what you're asking is to cap the condition of pulled torches at 40% rather than the current cap at 50%. Would that make crafted torches more useful by comparison? Uh, sure, I guess. But I'd still use the pulled ones most. 40% is still fine.
  4. It's been like this for many many years though, hasn't it? In fact, I can't even remember when all matches came at 100%. Also: Is it really true that matches don't degrade? Or is match decay just very slow? (I don't know the answer.) As to your actual question, I'm not bothered at all by not being able to stack. The way matches are now makes it easy to keep them in a usefully-sized pack.
  5. Hmm, "died from blood loss due to grinding acorns." Unloading it is a great safety tip. 🤠
  6. Yeah, irrespective of whether or not "antivirus" does anything positive in the first place (and the answer to that is far less certain to be "yes" than it may seem), such software tends to be a troublemaker. I see. Didn't know that. That's a bummer. So what I would do next if my system was affected by this issue is to manually disable stuff that safe mode should have disabled, in particular all non-macOS system-wide launch agents/daemons and kernel extensions. These should all be in /Library. Then reboot and try TLD in that new user account. The idea is to find out which software installed on the machine is causing this issue. If the network does work when all that stuff is removed, add extensions etc. back in until you've identified the culprit. Do be aware, however, that messing with /Library manually is not entirely without risk.
  7. So just to be clear: "ping 10.0.1.1" works before launching the game, but not after launching it? That's really weird. If you have stuff like antivirus installed, or Little Snitch, firewall apps, anything like that, yeah, it could easily cause such issues I suppose. That would certainly be the prime suspect here. But you said you disabled it. Still, you could try booting the Mac in safe mode, which I think prevents most or all extensions of that kind from loading. https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/start-up-your-mac-in-safe-mode-mh21245/10.15/mac/10.15 You could also create a new user account on the same machine and try from there.
  8. That last one is a confirmed bug, listed in the 2.26 release notes: https://hinterlandforums.com/forums/topic/44488-the-long-dark-updated-to-v-226/
  9. Is it even possible to get onto thin ice with it? I'm not sure it is.
  10. In what way is your internet access broken? Is the breakage permanent, or does the connection come back after quitting TLD? What kind of IP addresses are shown in the network system preferences (with TLD running vs. not running)? Can you ping local hosts? Internet hosts? Can you resolve DNS names? Can you load web pages in the Steam overlay? How about other non-default browsers? How about other protocols—does email via IMAP and SMTP work, for example? These are some of the questions that might be useful for diagnosing the issue. FWIW, I have zero internet issues with TLD on Catalina. But macOS 10.15 (Catalina) itself is very outdated. I think the oldest version that still receives (very limited) support from Apple is currently macOS 12 (Monterey). If you don't have to run an older version, you should probably upgrade to macOS 14 (Sonoma), which is the current version and the only one fully supported by Apple with security updates etc.
  11. o_O Definitely not my favorite TLD food (if it existed in the game). 😂 Thanks for sharing, interesting history!
  12. I think that some accessories could perhaps be optionally equip-able in other regular slots in addition to the accessories slots. For example, the Improvised Insulation would be useful in the regular inner torso slots (or the medium one, where the Down Vest fits). The Tool Belt could optionally go into the outer legs slot if you lack space in the accessories slots. And so on. This wouldn't have to be an option for all of the accessories, but it'd be neat for those ones where the slots are already there anyway.
  13. I think the yields you suggest are too high. I'd say 2 leathers from bear/moose, 1 from wolf/deer, zero from rabbit sounds about right. But yes, there definitely ought to be an easier way to make new leather. Currently the only way is to craft a Moose Hide Satchel and break that down, which certainly is too expensive in terms of work time required.
  14. I've lived off rabbits for a bit recently and experienced snares breaking, though far fewer than I had expected. Maybe fewer because it was a Pilgrim run, or I just got lucky.
  15. Great idea! That would make boiling dry a real part of gameplay. If realism is a concern, you could perhaps limit this new mechanic to coastal regions only.
