  1. I second that. Some behaviour with wolfes seems confusing to me and should become more consistent. I did not know the torch/stone mechanic (which I can accept from the resources involved but also do not see the logic that much) but for me it is attract wolf drop bait wove away from wolf and bait until wolf klicks on bait crouch wolf turns around and continues patrol The results in easy arrow shots from behind. Which I don't mind that much. But the behaviour feels very strange. Agreed that Timberwolves are a complete different topic. I can see that they are supposed to be a challenge but those puppies on coffein have so many glitches in the cannary. They deserve a tweak here and there. And they should not respawn every night in interloper. That is just abusrd for the "Quiet Apocalypse".
  2. Ah, yeah. Should have been clearer on my part. I read all the bleed out times and how they stack but never...
  3. I know. My point beeing I never had to land 5 arrows to bring down a bear.
  4. 🤞 Just keep in mind that I have a limited sample size and I could be wrong. But it made sense that a bear and a moose take 4 arrows max. Usually for me it goes like: Attract bear to my fire. Get behind fire and shot. Hit. Redraw and see him stop because of the fire. Go for the head shot - which fails. Bear starts running around in panic (most times even towards me - which is scary). Land one more arrow and then he usually is too far away. Therefore I have to catch him after a change in direction due to an obstacle or so for the fourth hit.
  5. Just to be upfront: I don't like Bleak Inlet. I think the map layout is OK. The 2 sections part is a new touch but not that exciting to me. I would consider the rest OK as well but I think the catwalk is a bit over the top. But the big weakness are the wolves. I agree, what's the point going there if you spend 4 arrows and more just to get there? The milling machine can fix your knife and hatchet and in very long games you will run out of whetstones. So there is a purpose. But it is marginal and the wolves are really annoying. Especially the aggressive respawn at the cannery (I am playing the quiet apocalypse - not "Dead Space Canada Edition"). There is no point going to BI before archery lvl 5 in my opinion. So most players will have cooking lvl 5 as well and then you can eat any meat. But I like the idea to can it. So it does not smell anymore. Would be a neat thing but still not the killer feature to go there in the first place.
  6. Same here. Bleed out is a viable option but I like to have him drop right there as he might collapse in a wolf area. Which sucks. So I tried to hunt like "Even Dark" on youtube with a fire but - contrary to him - my second hit rarely gets the job done. And this is how I learned that if I pump two more arrows into the bear I have him right there. So far I got all my arrows back and I actually think this is because of this technique: I read somewhere that a hit and running animal can lose arrows during it running around. So you not only have to find the body but cover the entire area where it was running around to spot your missing arrow. If I manage to land the four arrows before he runs off he has no chance to "lose" my arrows without me seeing them.
  7. I never read it and I have a limited sample size but all bears I hunted dropped after 4 arrows. No matter where I hit them.
  8. What? Not seen the mountain top yet? I think reaching it was one of the best feelings I had in this game. It takes days to set up for your run and when you finally do it and it pays off...
  9. Regarding 2. I would read between the lines that you are too concerned about cabin fever. Yes, it sucks. Yes, it always happens when you don't need it. Yes, it alwys happens just before a blizzard. BUT if you try to spend time during the day outside as much as possible you are fine. I sleep inside wherever possible. I craft inside wherever possible. And it hardly ever pops up. When I craft stuff for a long time I take breaks in the afternoon when it is "warm" and collect or chop up some wood. I aim for 3+ hours there and crafting in the cold hours before noon. Eat outside, read outside, mend outside, cook outside and you should be fine.
  10. I certainly agree that you got the important things figured out. Some things come down to taste and playstyle. So I would add the following: 1. Deer: I approach them from a right angle crouched. Wait for a pause and take aim undrawn (so you have the dot) below the neck (horizontally) and between the hoof (if this is the right word) and the "knee" or "elbow" (since it is the front leg) (vertically). Stand up and draw simultaneously and just release. This gives me a hit chance of ~95% and ~30% insta-kill. Which is pretty nice. With lvl 3 to 4 I even go more for the head. With level 1 more for the shoulder as it is big and hard to miss. 2. Wolf: Depending on the situation I apply another technique if I am below level 5: Attract the wolf to you with stinky meat. Drop and distance yourself from the bait and the wolf should now focus on the bait. If you crouch now the wolf loses interest and turns around back to his patrol. Stand up and arrow in the a**. Rarely a kill so you have to track the wolf for your arrow (which I usually do the next sunny day by looking for crows.) But almost zero chance of a fight. Also herding a rabbit towards the wolf works really well. Deer not so much as it seems they avoid fleeing towards wolfs. With lvl 5 you only need a few stones and any (non-Timber) wolf is managable. 3. Moose: I am not an expert but I apply the same approach as you. You need to hit it 4 times max. So find a safe spot nearby and run there after each arrow. Sooner or later you get the kill. 4. Bear: Yes, like with the moose you need a safe spot (or a fire). I also noticed that all bears go down after 4 hits. Shot at the heart never worked for me. Neck seems to be the weak spot for the insta-kill. But contrary to a moose a bear can bleed out. One hit is enough if you are patient. Just wait until it drops. But it can survive and run around a long time. So usually I use a fire. Attract the bear, get behind the fire and shoot as often as possible. Some trees don't work anymore as safe spot. So I avoid that with bears and only do it with mooses. If you want to see a pro do it watch "Even Dark" on youtube. He drops bears and mooses like flies.
