  1. We know...and we wish...we'll see?
  2. So after finishing the story scenarios does your character get to continue in the sandbox mode? Will the current sandbox soon include the two new story areas? I apologize if this is secret information, I don't know what has been revealed. I haven't been following the story mode development closely....
  3. So to clarify...because I don’t know anything about how story mode works yet...after finishing the two episodes does it dump your character into the sandbox like most sandbox games? Or no? I'd prefer ending up in the sandbox after completing the story obviously....
  4. I had a couple bugs with that bear actually. Involving me running into a shelter right before being mauled. I think that glitched things a little too... Fog rolled in after I landed two arrows, and he came charging out of the fog while I was in front of the door to a trailer. I got a laceration, but no damage and dodged the mauling animation... I almost wet myself...
  5. No one has mentioned this to you yet, practice throwing rocks. The rock seems to land just above the bend in the thumb....practice. Grab like 10 rocks and find some bunnies. You can get relatively close to a bunny by crouching. Find some bunnies get close and crouch and knock a bunny out. Then sprint to the bunny before it regains consciousness and....um....kill it. Yeah kind of mean...but it's you or the bunny. Try to grab a few, preferably around a shelter, because I think 3 dead bunnies equals a full scent meter. Take them inside and skin them, gut them, and grab the meat. Throw the hides and guts on the ground to cure. Light a fire somewhere and cook and eat that meat...and boil a few lieters of water at least.... Also don't forget to harvest cattails, mushrooms, and rose hips. The latter are medicinal, but they still have a 100 calories and if you drink them hot a warm up bonus... After scavenging around a map for supplies...focus on finding a hacksaw to harvest scrap metal and a hammer for forging....then head to Forlorn Muskeg or Desolation Point to forge arrow heads and a improvised knife or two at least. You will need scrap metal, a bit of cloth and at least 8 pieces of coal to get the forge hot enough for forging. The more wood, coal, and scrap metal the better.... Next find a maple sapling and cure that for a bow. Also find some birch saplings and cure those for arrow shafts. (assuming you find a hacksaw) Then turn those bunnies into gloves, and use your new bow and arrows for some deer to turn into pants and boots. Then use your bow and/or knife/hatchet for some wolves to make a coat....or two. Then you'll be stylin...like a pimp...A Pimpocalypse! Spoiler below: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=888366399 That is a guide listing a bunch of potential Interloper loot spawn locations for important tools...like the hacksaw for instance....
  6. That's what I was thinking, because dude I looked EVERYWHERE... The arrow is gonzo....
  7. I like watching that Forged in Fire show or whatever it's called where amateur blacksmith or bladesmiths compete to forge the best blade.... A part of me always wanted to be a blacksmith, or a glass blower....
  8. Oh Nervous Pete....your video was cute!

    10 Suggestions

The only one on the list that I care deeply about is a little more starlight, moon light, aurora light through the windows at night. As others have mentioned previously the degree of pitch blackness is excessive. You can't really navigate any building currently in the dark. So if your bed is on the second floor....good luck with that. If it was real life and truly that dark, we could still feel objects with our hands and maybe feel our way around to the stairs and the bed. Can't really do that in game.... They are working on lantern placing I think already. I'd like to add a request though: Using non-potable water to brew coffee, teas, mushrooms, etc. The act of brewing hot drinks typically involves boiling the water first. It's very frustrating that I have to melt and then boil a batch of water, only to have to then boil it again to brew a drink immediately after....
  10. I literally just polished mine off two days ago...the mushrooms count too, which is silly as you are basically steeping tea....but it's cooking I guess.... The one little thing that aggravates me about teas and coffees in the game is you shouldn't have to start with potable water. To steep coffee and tea you have to bring water to a boil to do so, so you should be allowed to use non-potable water to brew tea and coffee. Thusly making a potable finished beverage. The first bear I killed I didn't have time to chop the meat up, if I had I would have been to cooking five several days ago. Luckily my travels brought me to a second bear the next day, so I only needed to chop up a little to get it there. However now I have waaaaay too much meat to eat. Pretty sure the first batch, the non-level 5 batch might not all get consumed in time. Too bad I can't invite you guys over to have some...

    Two Weeks!

For some reason it's what happens in my head two weeks before anything....because you know....Two Weeks!
  12. Yeah, I have no idea what you are doing then. I thought you were running tests like Timberwolf and struggles. You are just doing math out loud then? Ok, I never liked math so have fun with that...
  13. That's not really how statistics and percentages work. A 1% chance is just that, 1% or 1 in 100 times. It's 1 in a 100 no matter how many times you do it. Your tests show that the 1% chance is actually 10% chance. That IS misleading...if it is really a 1 in 10 chance instead of a 1 in 100 chance, they should just say that. Someone misplaced the decimal point when coding obviously.... Probably should be bug reported if you get parasites 1 time out of 10 attempts at a 1% chance of getting them....
  14. I was going to mention FM for mushrooms. If you looted every mushroom in FM you would have at least 50, but total there could really be more like 100. There are A LOT of mushrooms in FM... Sounds like you may have known that already though... On a positive note, for the next 17 days you can eat as much bear and woIf meat as you like. I'd go kill a bear and quarter it. Bring the bags to the closest hut and harvest .5 kilos at a time while canceling in the middle to get .25 chunks. Spend a couple days just cooking and eating those trying to get cooking closer to lv5. If you luck out the bear on the lake might be out by the lone cabin. That would be a nice little spot. Could even cook in a fishing hut.... I'm sure you are aware once you get cooking to lv 5, you no longer get sick from food you cook, which is solid...parasites included... I do agree a 20 day affliction is a bit over the top in any difficulty. I wonder what swell guy decided that would be a fair idea. It's 10 days for Stalker, and lower than Stalker difficulty you can safely eat any critter. I think 5 days for Stalker and 10 days for Interloper is more than an ample penalty. Actually lowering the duration would limit one's ability to continuously eat bear and wolf meat after getting it. With the exception of using bandages for each separate injury, to stop bleeding....having to double or triple down on medications for each separate ailment is pretty excessive and silly. If you need antibiotics for one thing, they will still act on other afflictions in your body requiring antibiotics. The same with taking painkillers. You don't get to take multiple doses of pain killers for multiple injuries inflicted at the same time. You could experience respiratory suppression if you dosed yourself with pain killers the way we do in game. If they are non-opioid anti-inflammatory pain killers, those typically can cause ulcers and blood thinning in high doses...which is also bad....
  15. So what are you saying then the 1% chance actually behaves as a 10% chance? If so, the 1% chance is very misleading...
  16. I would rather they finish development on the first game before starting work on a new game... They are about to finally release the beginning of the Story mode after 3-4 years of development. Typically after a game exits Alpha, then Beta testing begins. So I figure this game still has a ways to go, it's already amazing just with the Sandbox...but it isn't the finished and polished gem it could be. Once it gets there, I truly hope it continues to receive periodic updates and maybe even DLC additional stories. Even if Hinterland decides to begin a new project after this one. Based on the fan base and success of this game, their next project will probably receive even more funding and backers, than this game did. The Long Dark received backing, but it was a big risk from an unproven developer. Now many people have seen what this Studio can do. I do wonder where they will go next...
  17. You light a storm lantern to use the bathroom in the middle of the night because you know without it, you will never find your way back to your bed in the dark. You'll end up standing in the bathroom until sunrise....
  18. Yes, the dreaded random injury foils the best laid plans of mice and men.... That's how the saying goes right? That happens to me all the time too...
  19. Rodger dodger, thank you very much for your speedy and informative reply! Much appreciated!
