  1. I think so; At least that is the way I been playing ever since I got that idea. So sorry, I can't find the conversation from where I learned it, maybe 2-3 yeas ago. That player made some serious testing and statistics with every 5% intervals of sharpness; Did the wolf die or got injured, clothing contition, how many wounds you got in a fight and so on. The conclusion was that sharp weapons cause more bleesings than wolf, if your clothings armor rate is good enough.
  2. Sticks... I'm totally OCD with stick. And I drop them next to any fire place or cave I over night. Next morning I'll go on and start picking them up again. Stones I try to keep under 6 so I can distrackt wolves.
  3. Yeah, One moment you are over joyed of a perfect head shot with your last arrow and prepare your self to harvest the 1st bear skin. And next thing you realise that you fight agains hypothermia...
  4. Howdy, Badges you can activate on you future playthroughs. On Vayageur you may have 4 feats active, Stalker 3 and Interloper 2.
  5. One less wolf! That could be a our battle cry. BTW, I was just reading your thread - Stalker WOW. And was planing to comment about better clothing. (READ: Furs!) And then there was a pic in Wolf jacket and bunny hat. Seems that you are doing fine. I'm really glad this game finds new players after so many years. And that they find this Forum.
  6. I hardly never use hatchet to chop wood, as I told, only to dull "too sharp" ones. Just picking sticks on my way and leaving extra sticks to campsites. Don't you end up having torn clothes way too often to your taste, when stabbing wolves with knife?
  7. About tearing your clothes/cutting yourself, see my answer to Ruined Cat Tail Stalk. I'll try to find the posting of the matter.. I complitely forgot Bleak Inlets Milling station. I usually die before I reach it somewhere around Bleak Inlet. I think I'll steal your strategy from now on, knives used until 20% and change a new one.
  8. First of all, You have one of the best usernames, Ruined cat Tail Stalk. Like ever! I've not tested myself. But some one made testing and posted results here. I read it, ages ago, and can't find the topic anymore. But results were good enough to convince me. There was somekind of sweet spot for a hatchet around 60% - less bleedings and torn clothes, with wounded enough wolves. So, I think the outcomes of struggles are not completely randomized. I see your point with whetstones. I've one with me only when traveling to a new area, others are kept on working stations.
  9. Howdy, Just out of curiosity in what condition you keep your hatchet and hunting knife? And to share my own preferences. It seems that I try keep my hatchet aroud 65%. Give or take 4%. This way I don't tear my clothes, nor hurt myself to bleed, atleast not as often, when fighting a wolf. I always use hatchet in wolf fights, if awailable. I do even "dull" found hatchets by making some firewood to my desired contition. Hunting knife's sharpness I tend to max to 100%. It's used only to carcass harvesting.
  10. Thanks, ajb1987 I've been running around Ash Canyon like a headless chicken trying to find 2nd Polaroid. But it's not been totally useless - I've found good amount of Birch for my arrows. Now I can peacefully go back to Timberwolf and start clearing The Summit...
  11. You may rot and ruin a decent amount of guts, furs and skins in caves, simply by leaving them too close to the entrance. ALWAYS check that curing process starts when dropping them to cave floor. (Who told you that I've just lost a bear skin?)🤣😂🤣
  12. Thanks, How stupid of me? Never thought that. But it's obvious! Thank you, again
  13. You can shoot - or rather miss - an arrow through ice. And it's gone for good.
  14. Oh, sorry! I'm not a native English speaker, so... In Finnish word "Hiipiä" means both 1) sneaking crouched and 2)walking carefully without making noise. My bad! I meant the latter one. Going behind a bunny and aproaching from there. And to be precise, one still can sneak with the bow but can not shoot an arrow from crouched position.
  15. Hello, Title tells it, I suppose. I did participate in a came KickStart a few years ago. Got even an email of it. But now I have lost it. Been wondering if I supported you or did I spend my money into a game I not playing... Yours Niskavuori
  16. Thank you, ManicManiac Reading your list of bare minimums realy opened my eyes. Since I'm already prepping areas, usually one place next to a crafting table, why not prepare a couple of more in each area? And do I really need a Bearskin bedroll anywhere else than while sleeping in Stone Church or Fishing Huts? That is already -2Kg, and leaving my pot, an extra -1kg. Thanks again! And greetings from Finland. We had -25 C this morning...
  17. Cooking you fish in a pot gives you more lampoil than frying it on stove top.
  18. BTW Manic; How do you play, when "running light"? I mean what do you bring with you and what gear do you use as clothing? That is something I'm really curious about. I tend to drag too much stuff with me...
  19. Thanks, Now prepping Desolation Point and just thought, that I should have taken my Moose cloak instead - I mean, how many blizzards can happen in a row with 1h intervals... I have a very strong feeling, that it is actually designed to DP and these weather patterns they have here.
  20. Sure, you may shoot them with arrows, rifle even with a distress pistol... I think rabbits are actually really good way to upgrade one's bow and arrow skills. Sneak behind them and shoot. But after Lvl 5 is reached with bow, I usually use only stones to kill them. Arrow shafts are too valuable to be vasted in that way. EDIT; After posting, I read Mroz4k answer, and must say, He is right, arrows are too valuable for bunnies. But there is a good, yet old YouTube video, of bow and arrow hunting.
  21. Thanks; I'm trying to achieve my 500 days on Stalker and Cartographer "badges" here. Relaying mainly to bow and arrow. But since the birtch trees are limited I must "be prepared" for my future with a revolver too. I usually go to new area and hunt, leave pelts and guts to dry. And that is my plan with Bleak too. To prep the area for time when I really need my bullets. I think that summarize my playstyle. What is your recommeded weapon with Timber wolf packs?
  22. Howdy; I'm playing on Stalker and planing to bring some lead, suphur and other stuff to Bleak Inlet. Last time I went there, I died miserably - Timber wolves nibbing my health to zero. Would a moose cloak help?
  23. Howdy, Just out of curiosity: What is your favourite way with lanterns? Do you keep and repair them? Or do you harvest all but one? I usually fix one and bring it with me everywhere. And a 0,5L bottle of fuel. Others I fix, and then harvest.
  24. Howdy! Has anyone else noticed that Birch and Maple markings disappear RANDOMLY from maps when harvested? They seem to - sometimes - appear on Polaroid opened maps, although have been already cut down. And they are removed or not when collected on alredy opened map. I spend a good time, and several bandages to my wrist and angle, trying to find a maple sapling from a hill side. Untill I realized a small greenish leftover stump...
  25. Birch tea is good for Food poisoning You'll need your Antibiotics or Reishi Tea and you are getting tired. But your contition does not diminish!
