Weather effects Rainbows etc

I won't say that British Columbia never gets thundersnow (i.e. thunder and lightning during a snowstorm), but I think it's extremely rare.  It's a little more common here on the Prairies and farther east around the Great Lakes, but still fairly rare.  I also think the ambient air temperatures outdoors are generally too cold for either sleet or rain.

OP - I could see everything except wildfires being a possibility.  The Ash Canyon fire occurred before the in-game timeline.  Any active fire would just change the topography mid-game too much; and I believe Raph once said that it would require a major redo of the game's programming architecture to accommodate.  The "background" game world was designed to be relatively static (i.e. no cutting down of trees, no dismantling or erecting entire buildings, etc.)

Would be good to have more effects like

- Rainbows

- Glory effect (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glory_(optical_phenomenon)

- Sleet

- Thunder & Lighting

- Wildfires (like the ash canyon)

It would be perfect if the weather would actually have some effect on the ground - like, deeper snow.. sometimes it would kill some animals (freeze to death), that could later be found.

Agree, it would be nice.  Again, though, I don't think the game's programming architecture allows for it without an almost complete restructuring.

How about meteor showers?

Yes! And the odd single shooting star.  Awesome idea, and actually reminded me something else I wanted to say but forgot.  If you look up at night there are no recognisable constellations.  It would very easy to take a public database of star position and magnitudes and plot them on the night sky.  The aurora is done *stunningly* I would say (having seen the real thing I'm comparing with reality here), so it would be amazing if we could have a real star field up there as well.

Maybe we could have a telescope somewhere  and make our own star  chart. Even get an achievement ,Stargazer' maybe  ?  Not sure what the reward would be though!
