Docterrok
Liquor opens up the arteries, making you "Feel" warmer, I believe things such as whiskey and wine can make you "Drunk" based on how much you drink, but also improve condition slightly, thoughts? Ape88
it could also be used to dull pain, and as an antiseptic, and due to the high calorie content, stave off hunger.
Shane Retter
Lowers core temp. Can kill you pretty fast if hypothermia has set in.... and can place you in a hypothermic state if you are not there already.
mic
That would be cool if developers introduce viruses like flu or other diseases like sore throat.. then you have 3 choices, do nothing and wait, take some craft medicine (from bush or a tree) or take some whiskey, get cold but healthy!!! ArmagedDan
If you google the "North Pond Hermit", he was a guy who survived in the woods of Maine for 27 years. He had a shelter out in the wilderness and survived by ransacking empty vacation homes nearby - about as close as you can get to TLD without an apocalypse! Anyway, he credits his ability to survive the long, harsh Maine winters by putting on tons of body fat, literally preparing to hibernate like a bear. The best way to do this, he said, was with alcohol pilfered from these homes, especially sugary junk like schnapps. So it seems like alcohol should give you a Feels Like temperature debuff, and make you slightly tired and thirsty, but also be packed with calories. Maybe if you drink too much you start getting the "below ten percent" screen effects until the Inebriated status wears off. The main expense would be in recording new voice lines for a drunk character, while repurposing as many as possible. If a morale system is ever implemented, this might suddenly become an important find in some cold townhouse's top kitchen cabinets. C'mon, this is Canada, where's all the Canadian Rye? Dirmagnos
Liquor is similar to emergency stim, as it expands veins it makes you feel warmer, but you also lose heat faster. So it could be a temporary trade-off - gain a few degrees now and suffer severe heating penalties later. And increased thirst afterwards, severity depending on amount consumed. Another thing to consider is effects of strong liquors in cold - me and my friend once drank a liter of vodka in like -10 and nothing. Then we went to a party(and warmth) and all that alcohol hit all at once, i got completely wasted in matter of minutes.
Lovehandel
The biggest drawback to alcohol consumption in troubled times is its contribution to poor decision making. So unless you match our hero drink for drink, the real consequence of booze would not have an impact on the game. (Although that could be an interesting way to play)
