AZHockeyNut Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 I have tools, knife, extra maple, and extra cured gut. Why is the bow not repairable? I tried searching for a similar thread but I am failing to find one however I am sure that is because my search was sucky.
KD7BCH Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 A dry environment without the ability to re-hydrate the wood properly or protect it from wear and tear will wear it out after a few or few dozen full tension draws. Really though think this is more for gameplay.
AZHockeyNut Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 @KD7BCH ok thanks. Just seems like most other things have an ability to be repaired. I figured I could restring one with new gut or something. If not, I could at least burn it lol.
KD7BCH Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Have to do your best to harvest lots of saplings, and build yourself a stockpile. That way you can get a 2nd bow built before your first one dies. Extra arrows too. I lose about 1-2 arrows a week recover about half of them in time but never all of them.
AZHockeyNut Posted October 4, 2016 Author Posted October 4, 2016 My latest game I started random, in DP, so I set up to grab the bow and arrow from there, then a bunch of coal and made about 30 arrowheads. Traveled as direct a route as possible to ML and the Trapper's cabin grabbing a few more on the way, some saplings etc. Now I am hunting with about 15 arrows in various stages of disrepair and plenty of birch....but no maple .... ughhh
Mikhail_Reign Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Don't stress. You will quickly have 15 bows and 3 arrows.
nicko Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 my guess is if your long bow gets some sort of stress crack in it somewhere there is pretty much no repairing it unless you have some sort of magic glue that makes it strong again. else it just breaks in half. but a well crafted bow would or should last a life time just saying.
mystifeid Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 A higher archery skill is rewarded with reduced wear and tear on bows.
