pigbull320
I think it would be cool if we could craft/find Guidelines. Guidelines being this long rope with stakes in them. The purpose would be for navigation during a snowstorm. We could craft them out of sticks and guts or maple sapling and mountaineer rope or a combination of something else. You would walk outside, place your stake in the ground, connect one end of the rope, then walk for a second, place another stake, run your rope thru it and repeat until out of rope or guideline or stakes. When out of stakes you could still hold onto the rope as to help find your way back. Might be a tall order or something we don't need in Alpha, but maybe once full release comes out and the devs want to add something in their spare time. EternityTide
That's a lot of material for a simple navigational tool. You'd have to kill dozens of deer to get enough gut to craft one long enough to be useful, plus gut gets very fragile in cold weather and liable to snap. Mountaineering rope is too precious and too heavy duty to use as a guideline. I like the idea of flags, like the ones used to define the area of a piste, these could be collected or crafted. Alternatively, you could find police cordon tape, if there's any left after the apocalypse. Additionally, coloured chalks would be useful to navigate through mines and caves, as well as highlight ledges to rest on rock-climbing sections. Joelle Emmily
So many pluses dude. The climbing ropes could easily be used to accomplish this. But, I also like @EternityTide suggestion my flag idea. Yay me!
cekivi
I'm also in favour of flag tape as a navigational aid. It's very common and easy to use and see. The alternative is to be allowed to blaze a trail using your hatchet or axe.
pigbull320
Well I was just suggesting those materials. Could just use 5 cloth and a few sticks for anchors. They could last for 3 snow storms before needing repair/re-anchoring.
