  1. I outfitted and went on a trek from my safe house. I just wanted to get a dear and I get so immersed in it that I lose all sense of survival in the first place. I see some dear but only have so many rifle shots left. BANG! I line a shot up but it's not dead. Only bleeding out. I follow the blood trail with no avail. Gone. Dang! I keep walking down the path and I come across a frozen pond with a moose in the distance. I walk around it and go on the pond opposite side of it. Collecting some things. Then I see it's glitched out. Hanging in the air. So of course I go walking up to it thinking I'm safe and nope screw that. It decided to come out of its coma and charged me while I tried to run away and curb stomped me and broke my ribs. I black out for a minute and barely crawl away along the rock face. I was getting cold as the wind was picking up so I found a crease in between the rock ledge. I build a fire and take my wet cloths off. Bandage myself up and take some pain meds. Of course when I went on this trek I forgot a pot or a can as I came from my safe house. And all I wanted was a dear xD. While I was in the menu, I come out of it and it's a friggin blizzard can't see anything outside of the little crack I huddled up in. In the moose attack my bed roll was destroyed and damaged so I couldn't use it and get a little rest to get some health back. So here I am huddled in this rock crack broken ribs, wet cloths and a friggin Blizzard. So I had to manually wait for my cloths to dry huddled up to the fire. The time was going down on the fire and I had to get some more wood or else I may not survive the weather. So I limp my broken ass out and find some wood and sticks. I head back, mind you it's whiteout conditions. and of course the wind changed and blew out my fire when I got back. And I couldn't light a new one because of the wind and I didn't have any kindling. So I traverse the white out picking up sticks as I go so I can make another fire. I huddled up to another rock opposite of the wind and built another fire until the weather clears up. At this time it's getting dark and just a light flurry. Almost surreal and peaceful. My sleep meter is going down pretty good at this point. Broken ribs can hardly carry the stuff in my backpack now because I'm injured. Luckily I brought a lantern with me. For a second I lost my bearings and went the wrong way but I seen a bent over tree I remember passing by coming this way. I finally limped my ass back to a Seacan and luckily there was a bed in there but the weather blizzard on me again. Luckily there was some supplies in the sea can for me to use up. I made it back to my cabin with 120hrs of rest I needed to do.
  2. They should sign up for the brave browser rewards. I wouldn't mind donating more money with the brave tokens I get. I even Inquired before on a post I made where I could donate besides buying the game of course. Which I recently bought for my new gaming PC. I originally found it on the switch store. I wouldn't have minded if they put a donate button under the story mode episodes. I would have donated $5 minimum per episode. I know they have some obligation to the original Kickstarter campaign. But getting new followers to the genre I'm sure alot of people feel the same as I do. I believe in this studio. And it's awesome that it's in my own backyard.
  3. I don't think a game like this could ever be "complete" as It has so much expansive potential. That being said because of the engine they used to make it back in the day and them not having any idea how explosive this game was going to get it's very limited on community modification.. even at all. Im hoping if they do bring out a new game they'll use a game engine that will be more open and willing to its community. It's an incredible game and I learned about it from the switch. I just bought a gaming computer and I purchased it again.
  4. I'm very grateful for this game. As a Canadian I'm glad I'm supporting local. I started a thread recently about supporting you further financially. Yes it's amazing there's a one time purchase and it's good to hear your still getting sales to be put money back in but at the same time I wouldn't have minded if I had to spend $5 per episode. It's very well done and thought through it's worth the extra purchase. With the long dark having its own little niche it can be improved on but it does have its limitations. I hope to see a new and improved game in the future that can easily be expanded and hopefully still have the same feel as this game. Keep up the great work. I'm glad I found this game on the Nintendo switch store. I can play it anywhere I go as I travel for work.
  5. I don't think it would make it explode. Minecraft does this pretty easily. Albeit it is just blocks etc but if they implemented a certain area be loaded at a time then I'm sure it could work out. If I had any programming skills I would definitely donate my time to make it a reality. Ohhhwell. They said on the latest journal that they might try to implement MOD support but because of unity it might not be possible. So we might see LTD migrate away from it if we ever do get community support modding.
  6. @Derek0311 Any idea is welcome as a random element to the game. Right now it's sort of random to me. I've found rifles galore in this play through but not once have I found a revolver. In the previous survival run I found the rifle and revolver in the same spot. Not everything is in the same spot each time you play. Example would be the key to the farm. It's either in the truck or behind the cabin. So technically it's already random. I'm just thinking a random map generator. Different terrain buildings etc etc etc. Maybe someone will get lucky and land on a map with everything included. Maybe a forge won't be around. Maybe rabbits won't be around. The random could be anything. Possibilities are endless really. The team could even make the map as big as all these areas we have now but combined into one large map that way they wouldn't have to make all these different separate areas. Then make it random. Like I said the possibilities are endless.
  7. This is a fantastic idea!!! Nothing else to add just want to keep it up.
  8. I'm not suggesting the regular game be completely taken out. But a separate section with a random map generator with the custom section of the difficulty level could be put in. if you end up landing on an extremely great unique map you can share with friends a specific code to it. This would ultimately lead for you to go back to it if you ever lose your save or anything like that. Ie. Survival mode deleting the file after death I'm sure all this would take alot of time and money and it probably won't happen but we can at least put the ideas out in the world.
  9. This is a reply with your hinterland team size and time: I forget what section I posted but I asked the question on how we can support this game other then the Initial purchase. I know people will scream at me about micro transactions or paying more after the fact but I would have gladly payed $5 for each episode of the story mode. It's so well done I think it deserves it.. or at least an option to donate to the team. This game has been out for a very long time. I'm really enjoying it and wish I had discovered it sooner. Lots can be added and if money is the issue that goes with time I would gladly support it.
  10. Yeah I feel dumb about it. Not sure what happened the first time but it didn't save despite it saying so over the course of the 5 days in game I did. Does the save erase if you die? Because I did die by a bear lmao.
  11. Well that's unfortunate. So you can't have multiple files starting in different regions. I get the whole challenge aspect but it kind of sucks to be honest. They should add the option for a none save survivor run. Makes me not want to do it lol.
  12. Does hinterland have a PayPal account that we can donate to? This game has been out for several years. More can be added. If money and the time to do it is an issue can't we as a community come together and keep funding it? I know people will snicker at me about micro transactions or the good ol' days of paying for a game once and that's it but I would have gladly donated money or payed for the extra story mode.. just so long it was a reasonable price. $5 an episode or something like that. I went to the store section of the website but it seems to be down.. possibly because of covid. Not sure if there's merch available or not anyway.
  13. I always do a search before posting a question so hopefully I didn't miss an answer somewhere. I'm playing the Nintendo switch version of the game and I can't seem to save on survival? How would I be able to get any of these rewards? xD. I definitely can't leave my system going 24/7. I read up that it has an auto save feature but to my dismay after playing for several hours I come back to the menu and it just gives me the new game option.. uuuuhhhhgggg I really like the story mode but it definitely lacks alot of the intricacies of the stand alone survival mode. At least it gives me the option to save.
  14. On the developers MAY journal entry they talk about possibly making the game MODable. So people can add things and make it better. It's been requested to them alot over the years. The only challenge they face is UNITY as it wasn't built to have an open platform MOD. If it becomes available then we will see some interesting things added to the game.
  15. I feel where your coming from but in all honesty this is one of those gems that gameplay definitely over shadows any type of personal graphic "fallback". I'm playing on the switch so my graphic expectations are pretty low. And when I think about PC or other consoles I have it in mind that the graphics are significantly better.
