    While the wait has been long for Part 4, the content also seems plentiful. The question is is there enough left from the roadmap for two more parts? I'm not opposed to ending it at part 5 if that will satisfy the roadmap's promises. With the flask and first person harvesting animations in part 4 as well, there's not that much left.

    How so?

    Final Region (Mountain Pass)
    Cougar
    Global Wildlife refresh
    Safehouse customization
    High-end Graphics
    Trader
    Camera mode
    Hunted Part 3

    First five things above are the ones I've waited for most since this DLC thing was first announced.

    If I had to guess what happens:

    Part 5 (late Spring...)
    Probably another Tale thing
    Global Wildlife refresh
    Trader
    Camera mode
    Hunted Part 3
    Console performance fixes
    Some other minor things

    Part 6 (next Christmas...)
    Mountain Pass
    Cougar
    Safehouse customization
    High end graphics
    Switch version
    Final touches to the Survival mode as it's officially finished

  2. The scurvy thing is the one I'm actually most excited about this update (well other than the flask + the new region, even though those poison uber-wolves seem bit fantastical) as it finally brings some sort of emphasis on issues with long term survival using mainly meat based diet. It will be interesting to see how that stacks up in the end-game phase. Next up, I wish they'd also look at the "rabbit starvation" / protein poisoning issue (as Les explains here at 32:52)

    As for the flask, it seems like a great tool for NOGOA/Deadman since it should help in reducing setting up new warming-up fires & new tea-buffs after every 3 minutes. I mean in a sense that makes NOGOA bit easier, which is something I usually don't want the game to do, but constantly making new fires was also bit unrealistic aspect of that game mode, so it's ok. Of course, we will actually still have to see how much liquid those flasks can actually hold, and how much more time they keep warm versus the old buffs.

  3. Sadly, that is correct, weather maxes out circa day 50, it never gets any colder than that. And by max values it's still pretty mild even with all Custom settings put to max.

    The only way to make it colder is to run the great Relentless Night mod, where you can max it out -120 celcius and have interiors affected, make the end game truly special.

  4. I find it like any other region really, not much more difficult or easier. Of course, unless you spawn there or are bored there's not really that much reason to visit any of it. It's just general loot. Anyway, it has nice atmosphere.

  5. While waiting for something to happen, here are the past release dates for the "December region updates" since those became a permanent thing post-HRV. (Yes, I'm basically now treating this next DLC patch as another region update too)

    Bleak Inlet - December 9, 2019
    Ash Canyon - December 7, 2020
    Blackrock (Survival version) - December 7, 2021
    Forsaken Airfield - December 5, 2022

    It's probably a safe bet that we'll get something in 4 weeks time then.

    The problem is that now it's no longer possible to look at things people have posted to X without first creating an account, and that is not a reasonable demand to make for access to company communications.

    And even in the age before Elon Musk, this twitter feed in question was also filled with personal posts that had nothing to do with TLD, so you had to scroll through to find the "updates"

  7. Hey look! It's the Ghost of Great Bear Past. Flying outside of my window. She's telling me - I think - that it's not Christmas yet. "Have you forgot the spirit of past Christmas updates" she says in a voice that echoes. Tiny Tim will have to wait his meal and fix to the leg for little while longer.  The hospital down the street has been renowating for a while now, too. But it's alright. I have these cream crackers. The expiration date has been scratched off and I think they've added too much salt to the new recipe but you know, that's life. Snow will fall eventually.

  8. I loved Hushed River Valley especially for the reason that it was completely empty of human presence (other than the odd ruined snowshelter and rope here and there). I always wished for more maps like that, true wilderness where you had to sleep under the stars isolated, not sleeping in luxury preheated mansions. But the new updates gear towards ever more civilization, more and more items to already overloaded item list, "guests", "traders", more beachcombing, bunkers. They've now even added bunker to HRV. You can't eliminate any of that with Custom settings, which is a shame. Playing with pretending they don't exist is exhausting.

    How about, in the Custom settings, you had options for

    * Beachcombing (ON/OFF)
    * Bunkers (ON/OFF)
    * Trader (ON/OFF)
    * Narrative tales (ON/OFF)
    * Aurora turns electricity on (ON/OFF)
    * Glimmer fog (ON/OFF)
    * Static temperatures indoors (ON/OFF)
    * Guaranteed item spawns (ON/OFF)
    * Skill level when animal crafting possible (L1/L2/L3/L4/L5)
    Etc etc etc

    For TALES specifically and the abandonment of the 10-12 week cycle: I outlined reasoning in this dev diary. It was forthcoming and honest and I'm not sure what else you want. Complaining about it more isn't going to bring the updates out any faster.

    This may be true, but it's also not helpful that your Steam storepage, Epic storepage, official Hinterland page and FAQ page all still claim that the purchase is a 12-month campaign (+ one of the links also still says 8-10 week update interval)

    It's also very understandable that not everyone have read a long blog post posted in May. And even if they have, it doesn't mean they have to be happy with it, even if the reasoning is good
