  1. The new zone is cool, but as said before, there should be something in there that's worth taking NOGOA or even Interloper character there... you know, as there is in Ash Canyon with the tech packback. I mean you do get unique chemical protection items, but they're not really useful anywhere else anyway (apart from the small bit in Blackrock I guess but you know). Just looting the place for "general stuff" is not that inviting

The flask needs some work, the duration should be MUCH longer, now it's just small extension of what you already get. Also using it is clumsy, should be just in the radial menu

Travois, better implementation than expected, however it seems to easy to use now, it's not even dragging your energy. I guess it (too) decaying fast is a tradeoff but still

Anyway, the other updates seem to be good. The map is, as expected, gigantic again, with some good visuals. New hand animations are the highlight (haven't tried scurvy run yet)

  2. Why not tomorrow? Or even today? Their historical release data shows that Monday and Tuesday are the most likely candidates for launch.

Wednesday is probably good day too as game breaking bugs can be solved before weekend starts.

And once again, they are in Pacific time, it's not even 10AM at Hinterland office yet. Obviously they are going to do launch when their support team is staffed, so no 3AM launches (even though Europe would love it). There is a small possibility it could still come out today.

I'm assuming they'll drop an announcement / video before releasing... would be great to have that today, been getting antsy here 😅

Sometimes they drop video before release, sometimes simultaneously to release

  4. Well, theoretically it could still drop today as they are in Pacific timezone and it's not even 9AM there yet (usually their region launches are 10AM), but as said before it's unlikely to happen today anyway

Wait until the teaser trailer drops, and then you'll know it will be within a week

They don't always do teasers though, sometimes it goes live instantly. As was case with DLC part 3

Sometimes there's countdown timer, as there was with Ash Canyon and some others

  6. Bleak Inlet - December 9, 2019
    Ash Canyon - December 7, 2020
    Blackrock (Survival version) - December 7, 2021
    Forsaken Airfield - December 5, 2022

+ December 1 is unlikely* on top of everything else as it's Friday, meaning if the launch is completely broken they would likely have to work overtime on weekend for quick hotfixes.

    * Of course, I secretly still hope to be wrong and there's shock release on Dec 1 anyway. Particularly as this is my last empty weekend before the end of the year and next week in particular looks absolutely horrifying work-wise

Also, please make this possible for custom games. I'm quite disappointed that still isn't possible to have a random start in Forskaken Airfield.

I'm constantly getting spawns to FA in Custom? In fact, more than any other region I'd say.

The one that is actually criminally still neglegted in starts is Bleak Inlet.

  8. Yes indeed. Some of these items can already be tweaked through mods thankfully, but the problem with mods is that they can get broken anytime there's update. Or they get broken when mixed up with other mods. Or they get abandoned. And they only work on PC

The other option (for some of these) is to pretend they don't exist, but that's not that fun either

Agree.  One thing though - I'd add an "off" setting to the cougar since it is anticipated it will be a predator and to keep it in line with the settings already there for other the other predators.

Yes agree and modified the post for that and other things

  11. Judging from previous years region updates, launch will be between 4th to 7th of December (and logically not 1st or not 8th because if the launch is completely broken you don't wanna release it on Friday and have horrible issues into the weekend). Then some hotfixes during the following week, before they take the extended Christmas break with minimal staff in support. Next bug fixes early January.

Looking forward to the changes to first person and the new gear for survival. No doubt my long run Loper will be visiting the new region but not without first sending in some sacrificial lambs. I'd hate to lose him to some mystical/gamey mechanic.

It's safer to use guinea pigs with Poison Gas for sure

Hmm, I'm not 100% sure how cattails could be nerfed...but I'm not against having to mine your own coal with a pickaxe.

Another idea: why do carcasses freeze, but toilet water, pop cans, and water bottles in your backpack don't? If food and drink froze solid over time, coal spawns could be left as is, but more fires (and fuel) would be necessary to thaw out frozen food and drink so it's consumable.

I believe there was a summer event a couple years back that made interiors colder. Then again, underground caves and mines tend to stay rather warm, even in winter.

Cattails could easily be nerfed if there was separate slider in the Custom options for them. Perhaps even to turn them off completely. Currently, there is slider for "harvestable plants", which decreases the amount of overall plants (cattails, reishi, rose hip etc). So you can have that set as "low", instead of the ridiculously overpowered "high" that even Interloper has for some bizarre reason as default. However, even the "low" setting gives you millions of cattails and those other plants, particularly now that the game world is so massive.

Coal amount should be another "low/medium/high" setting too. And as I've said before, beachcombing, bunkers and some other game-easing luxury assets should have "on/off" buttons as well. I doubt this would be that hard to implement.

    Agree on the water/liquids freezing.

As for the interiors being colder, yes they were 10 degrees colder in that "Winter's Embrace" oneoff event back in 2020, but otherwise that was very easy Voyager-based event that you could offset by any clothes you found in the first 2 minutes. Besides, AFAIK the temperatures didn't really change per outside, they were just generally slightly colder. But yes generally speaking, interiors should definitely be colder, in real life these cottages and whatnot are in fact often much colder than the outside if not preheated for hours and hours. There should definitely be an option in the Custom options to enable cold interiors and temperature drop in accordance to outdoor temperatures. Currently, you can only do it in the Relentless Nights -mod.
