    I don't think it's really fair to be so quick to try and throw stones at Hinterland... especially since it's unlikely that you know the behind-the-scenes issues they are probably having to deal with from Nintendo and their "certification process" and "patch approval process."

    I don't claim to know either, but I find it unlikely that Hinterland would intentionally neglect a platform they've put the time and effort to port it over to.

    The "Nintendo thing" is definite. They're making a new Switch supposedly with backward compatibility to be released early next year, but it could be the Devs haven't figured it out for the new platform to remain synonymous with the old one and be upgradeable as well for higher resolution.

    That's a lot of scrap metal, a forge, and a milling machine. Not to mention tools that don't exist.  Interesting concept.

  3. I can offer a few insights.

    Cartography:

    I like the idea of improved mapping as well as the reduced charcoal weight. Maybe craft charcoal into "charcoal pencil" since regular charcoal is used in another crafting recipe.  I don't think knowing your location on the map would be realistic, because in survival you're constantly moving and have only 1 map. You should know where you are by landmarks, or feel lost. That's part of the charm of the game.  We can already add icons in the game via spray paint, and also rock caches can be named.

    First Aid:

    Bandages I agree are over-weight. A cup of  tea weighs the same as a bandage. That is one giant bandage. However, since they're crafted from cloth which weigh the same, I disagree that 1 cloth should make 1 bandage. I just think a reduction would be life-like. The crafting time should be reduced. Does it really take 20 minutes?  I'm pretty sure I could fashion a make-shift bandage in under 5 minutes. 

    With the Old Man's Beard wound dressing, just do not craft one until it's needed. The weight of the raw materials are significantly lower than a crafted bandage, and you will not need to apply one immediately as infection risk takes much longer than it takes to craft.

    Pills decay, yes, but they're still usable at 0%. Don't store them in a container. No need to change decay since that adds difficulty if you do not find them in time.

    I disagree with mending.  Some items take quite a while and you lose resources from failures quite often in the beginning.  You get a time reduction with skill increase.

    I think the afflictions are mostly fine as they are. Have you ever had broken ribs? I think the game is super lenient since they heal 100% without any lasting effects and in a great deal less time than in reality.  Perhaps there can be 2 levels: cracked ribs and broken ribs with the latter adding a permanent mobility decrease. I think the pre-requisite for that condition should be another status affliction of some sort or during an aurora with a bear attack.

    I think the Cabin Fever can use an adjustment.  10day average instead of 6.

    Crafting:

    I think some realistic adjustments to the crafting times are in order, as well as weights of clothing.  ex: How can 1 bear hide(1kg) and 4 gut(.4kg) equal 4kg when crafted? It's just not reasonable. Where did the extra weight come from?

    There are upcoming updates for modifying your home base, perhaps they will include the ability to add a storage indoors.

    If newly crafted clothing were to weigh less, then each repair should increase some weight.  Just my opinion there.

     

    This isn't a critique, these are just my ideas as I see them. I appreciate any input or insights.

     

  4. The "haze" you're seeing is because you have the Spelunker's Lantern.

    It offers less fuel usage and the con is that the light has a smaller radius.  This may be why the glow is much more pronounced, as I do not see it with the regular lantern.

  5. Tear up some clothing that you find in the cargo containers. That's the only advice I have other than to head to another region in search of cloth or expendable clothing items.

    The point of clothing protection is to reduce the damage you personally take during the struggle, and also how resilient the clothing item is to damage from an attack or struggle. It also helps protect you if you happen to fall off a cliff by accident or get a burn from electrically charged wires or campfires.

    Also, I've found using the bow is pretty good at wolf-killing since you can walk backward while aiming and it gives you a bit more time to zero in on them.

  6. I don't get much of the shimmering effect, but the pop-ins are real.

    I also had a lot of shaking while going through the mine in Blackrock and also the transition cave, but nowhere else so far. I haven't been to the far territory yet as I'm going all over before I head there.

  7. I do like this idea. Here are my thoughts:

    Created by using raw gut, raw meat, water, spices(is gunpowder a spice? 🤣). The condition % of gut and meat will affect the condition % of finished product.

    May be cooked or cured to increase quality and/or caloric density.

    Cooked will have slightly higher caloric density and cooking skill may add additional calories.

    Cured will degrade at 1/4 the time of cooked but no extra caloric density.  Cooked will degrade as normal.

    Curing takes 7 days indoors and condition will be 100% when finished.

  8. I am currently playing on Voyageur and I just left the summit.  No "tools" but there were tool boxes and lanterns galore.  I got 3 quality tools and 8 storm lanterns.

    I did get more soda/water than usual but there wasn't an exact duplicate. Everything else seemed to be there in quantity.

    I did find a rifle, ammo, and 4 books to read(on target, 4 hour rifle, 25 hour rifle, small arms).

    I have, however, found 5 hacksaws in TWM alone which is nice I guess.

    Hacksaw, heavy hammer, full jerry can,  fishing tackle, quality tools, prybar, storm lantern, flashlight, wood matches, accelerant(bbq lighter fluid), hatchet, can opener, spray paint, charcoal.

    Clothing:

    Work boots, trail boots, ski gloves, wool mittens. 

    Materials:

    LOTS of cloth. A literal ton of reclaimable wood, stump remover, 2 car batteries,.

    Food:

    Around 35 Military-Grade MREs. Various snacks like nut bars and salty crackers. Canned dog food. Coffee.

    Plus right outside you can find birch saplings and bark.

    There are some really odd things going on at the moment. Both @Leeanda and I are experiencing a range of weird and unusual issues.

    This one might well be worth raising a ticket for. It has a massive impact on gameplay. Carry weight of items is rather important.

  11. Are ya new? ❤️ I just thought everyone knew there were random objects laying around at times. I once barely found a rifle cartridge under a bed if i had not had my torch lit in the middle of the day! It wasn't even visible, I just happened to see the text.
