  1. I was actually enjoying the cabin fever risk with this. Managing your temperature as well as time inside/outside was a new play style for me. Now i feel i can camp indoors and just use a workbench all day (instead of setting up camp outdoors at a workbench  (Mountain town/Coastal Highway/Forlorn Muskeg)

  3. Great post! they started me in FM. pretty close to the ML transition, so I made my way. I found a knife in the Trappers Cabin, and got some decent clothing from the locker there. It was already nighttime by the time i arrived. I took the storm lantern, a flare, and a pack of matches and decided to head Mountain Town immediately in hopes of looting all of the houses. (it paid off)

Use to interlope so here I start with gloves, tuque, bedroll, matches, ... found riffle right away at Hunting logde, coal, prybar, hacksaw, knife, hatchett, working pants & boots, parka ... wow, luxury, abundance lol !!!!

I am happy that I did a couple runs on interloper & runs on stalker before this. I feel a little more at peace, even though i'm freezing. Managing clothing and fires & cabin fever is taking some trial and error though.

So, eventually you build a wall of bear quarters around the garage? I think parasites go away at level 5 cooking. Is this not so in Stalker?

Oh, im not quite at level 5 cooking yet.  I'll have to check this out.

This seems like a glaring omission. Why can we make one only in Wintermute? I would love a spear in Survival.

**SPOILER ALERT Incoming*** for anyone who hasnt played wintermute stop reading.

I LOVED the spear battles against the big bear. If this was an option in survival, I would prefer carrying that and a bow instead of a bow and pistol.

Lately in CH there is a regular bear delivery service at the garage. No need to look for bears. Every week one just walks into the garage yard. Because you can crouch-attack (level 5 bow) and duck into a car, two or three shots safely get that meat.

I can eat bear meat on Stalker due to parasites.  but hey, the hid isnt too bad.

Crafted with a ton of wood & scrap metal. Damn heavy once crafted so you can't lug a bunch around.

A 2m (3 foot) section of fence that will stop animals from crossing.

Can be used to block off sections of broken porch railing or fence off an area from predators.

I like it. could create a safe outdoor space for crafting on Coastal Highway. Could block in a porch for outdoor reading and sewing & sleeping without fear.

Main objective is to survive for 500 days ("Will to Live").

That is the exact idea i had jumping in to my current play through (this is my 3rd time, after learning the hard way about do's and don'ts <--is that how that is spelled). I got faithful cartographer, but REALLY wish i would have done it the way you do it. I think it would have been challenging in regards to survival, but easier in regards to "i missed a spot of DP and I'm in BI"

I did the wrapped in furs (I did it at Timberwolf Mountain, which was a very rewarding experience). BUT i left the bedroll behind. I'm hoping to to talk back there and finish my 500th day in that bedroll (i'm on day 287)

I cant remember what the "skilled survivor" is.

Then all we have to do is challenge ourselves to find them without looking up outside information.  :D

    :coffee::fire::coffee:
In this case there is nothing that needs to be changed about the game...  I recommend folks just try what I do: I set personal challenges for myself.

I've been working on my current personal challenge for over a year now. :D

My current challenge is to hit that 500th day. And then maybe get passed day 2 on interloper

I have been playing this game for a while and it keeps getting better. Thank you Hinterland. It would be neat to have a shouting function that would provide feedback function like trying to flush out predators or spooking the wildlife.

This could be kind of cool. I picture me using this running and waving my arms while yelling to scare a wolf away from its kill.

  12. I've been struggling with the idea of daily objectives. There is a part of me that says "Surviving the day is the objective". That being said, I THINK, daily objectives could be introduced to survival mode without it feeling too forced (feeling like a higher power is giving you objectives instead of yourself).

We already have a section where we can leave ourselves notes, check stats, etc. What do you all think about having a section for an optional daily objective(s) that would give extra points for a specific category (fishing, fire starting, harvesting and so on). These objectives could range in difficulty. "Catch a fish" / "Harvest a Bear Hide" as examples.

I think it's very reasonable for uneven surfaces to cause that... I think it would be a far worse design choice if our character just "floated" over every surface. :D

But we want to appear to be on ice skates. i mean, it is canada.

I have noticed that the bridges whose travel way (i.e. road surface) consists of logs now cause a significant amount of bouncing motion when being walked across.  It is very obvious, unsettling, and annoying.  Now I found, in Bleak Inlet, that the bouncing (the log irregular road surface) can be so pronounced that I can get [sort of] stuck much like trying to cross a railroad track which has motivated me to complain about it.

I've noticed that as well. There are also a few log bridges that will cause sprains because the "slope" is steep.
