Yes and it's been a still water reservoir for how long? ^^ Days? Weeks? Months?

Of course a stagnant water supply could get different diseases and bacteria in it to render it unsafe, but, in the game, water doesn't degrade. Depending on where I spawn, I can hit up the toilets in a region in the first couple of days. Are you saying you want water in toilets to degrade over time from Potable to Non-Potable? Or just all toilets to have non potable water in them? The way it was worded led me to believe that the water in the bowl was the water that was being referred to. Bottom line is, You CAN drink the water in a toilet reservoir, even if it's got some gunky particulates in it (which could easily be strained with say, a piece of cloth). I just didn't understand whether you were talking about the degradation of water, or just the whole blanket change to unpotable water. I guess a change like that could make water purification tabs more useful.

there is one major change I'd implement- water from a toilet being potable.  if you disagree, humour this taste test- next cold snap, grab a pint from your bog bowl, then melt (not boil!) a pint of fresh snow.  which tastes better?! 🤢

The water in the tank over the toilet is literally just the same water that comes out of the tap. No-one's suggesting that we drink toilet bowl water lol

    @ajb1978 @Jimmy Why I don't buy AAA anymore in a nutshell. Indie only. I haven't been disappointed.

Ehhhhh.... Yeah, I tend to agree that AAA gaming has taking a bit of a slide in quality in the last couple years, but there are always good games like RDR2 or GTA that I haven't been disappointed by. Indie Games can be kind of a mixed bag, simply because the genre includes so much. You find amazing games like TLD, or games that you need infinite patience/slight drunkenness to play, like My Summer Car, or thought provoking games like the Stanley Parable. And of course, you could find a flaming pile of garbage.

People have a lot of ideas.

  4. If it hasn't spawned for you in CH, i'd try PV. Easily accessible. Just head through one of the mines, and i'd hit the Farmstead (i've found rifles and cleaning kits there many times), and Signal hill for a revolver, Expedition parka and another possible rifle spawn there. Check under the bed, that's where the spawn is I think, although i've gotten snow pants and peanut butter there before. Loot Thompson's Crossing on the way back, no use carrying all that loot with you. If you wanted to you could also go to the plane crash for lots of clothing and a lot of airline food.

  5. Haven't tried Interloper, but on Voyager, for me its probably the PV farmstead. Lots and lots of deer nearby for you to shoot, Loads of room to put stuff, crafting bench, the covered porch. Even in early game, lots of loot and nearby spots to hit up. Connects to other good spots to hit up as well, like TWM or CH. My only gripe is that on harder difficulties and later in the game the weather sucks, but on a good weather day you might be able to get 3-4 deer and haul them in. Some good firewood nearby as well. Other than that, Trappers is nice because of its seclusion and the abundant rabbit and deer spawns fairly close nearby. Haven't tried Ravine, though the lack of wolves sounds like a huge plus. With a large supply of food you could probably hole up there for a long time.

  6. All the chairs and couches serve no purpose in the game apart from providing some reclaimed wood and cloth, or sitting there and looking pretty (though you should be able to move those.) What if you were able to sit in the furniture to heavily reduce fatigue drain rate and calorie consumption? Fill that time by reading skill books or mending clothing.

  7. Thank you everyone! As I logged into my voyager game in PV, I realized that my biggest problem was water. I always end up carrying like 8+ liters of water because I forget to drop it off and figure the extra kilos were worth it. Never actually realized how little you need. I also kept a bunch of stuff like matches that had their weight add up fast. Now I find myself being way less encumbered and it's a lot nicer. One of my main problems is that i'm a pack rat. Anything slightly useful, I take, and I'd rather make one long trip than several shorter trips (much less efficient, I know. It's just one of those things i'm trying to stop doing.)

My 'loadout' using all of your advice

Clothing: (not really optimized for weight becuase of the weather in PV)

    x1 Expedition Parka

    x1 Military Coat

    x1 Wool mittens

    x2 Expedition socks

    x1 Work boots

    x1 Snow pants

    x1 Combat pants

    x2 Wool Toques

    x1 Themal underwear

    x1 Long johns

    x1 Fishermans sweater

    x1 Thick wool sweater

As for my other stuff, I like to carry:

2.5 Liters water (gives me a little wiggle room)

Pretty much any food that I have that will get me through at most 2 days

    x1 flare

    x1 hatchet (if i'm woodcutting)

    x1 hunting knife

     x1 revolver +18 rounds ammo

x2 bandages +1 OMB dressing, Painkillers

x1 firestriker + fuel to start a small fire

    x2 cans

    x1 Lantern or 2 torches

    x1 prybar

x1 bedroll depending on where I'm going

Will post my total weight once I get a chance to check it.

    Thank you all

check out the Trailer just off the road outside of Milton, its up by a moose spawn, the bear is up the road with cars nearby to hide in.  the workbench is indoors and there is a firebarrel outside, its also right next to the HRV entrance, so its the best jump off to go there and fall back when you need to craft.  the only downside is storage, but neat little piles on the floor works for me.  i always find myself spending the most time there when in MT

I've been up there on my 50+ day (my best at that point) Voyageur character, but not to the workbench. Ended up losing him because I got attacked by said bear as I rounded a corner. He managed to get me and I quit the game. A couple days later when I loaded back in I had forgotten that I didn't patch my blood loss and I died while I was repairing my clothes.

  9. Okay... so I haven't actually played all the maps.

    Lemme explain

I feel the need to 'savor' every map to try and get a feel for it and what it is. What I mean by that is I like to start a new character on every map. So far I've worked through Mystery Lake, Mountain Town, and am working on CH and PV. And I have to say, PV in Voyageur isn't bad. Weather is mild enough and clothing is abundant enough that I don't run into issues with the weather. (Though i'm sure that's going to change when I get into more difficult modes). Best way I can describe CH is action packed. Wolves, bears and moose over by the Quonset hut, wolves on the ice, wolves on the highway, bears by the islands. Honestly a great map. ML has got it all. Wolves, fishing, snaring, hunting, exploring through big ruins (the dam) and plenty of transitions to other regions in case you get bored. MT is where things kind of fall apart for me. Lots of decent loot, sure, but a lot of wolves in a small place. Not to mention the Workbench is right next to a wolf spawn (and outside) IMHO it's a place to loot when you are just wanting to grab supplies. Not to live. My next maps are probably going to be HRV and FM, since everyone seems to have a good opinion on those. Definitely going to finish with a summit of TWM though.

  10. Pretty sure that it is not only not safe, but difficult to do. In order to run a patch through the bore you have got to open the action. Problem is that our character always appears to have a round in the chamber, and I don't see them disable a safety (dangerous way to tote your Enfield, or any gun for that matter). Point is that you'd have to unload at least one cartridge to start cleaning, and if you closed it but then you decided to re open it, there goes another one! At that point, why wouldn't you just unload all of your cartridges for safety and not having to chase them back down to wherever they ejected to. Great idea @UpUpAway95!

I guess if the car was electric or a hybrid, then yes. But if the car uses a gasoline or diesel engine, then these heaters usually use the hot water of the running engine to provide the heat.

Well, I guess there's not much to stop you from starting the car, unless the fuel freezes. Even then it could be a part of the whole 'suspension of disbelief'. But it might be a little OP.

  12. So, I've done a little bit of research and experimenting with beachcombing. Specifically, the edge of Jackrabbit island. I have a temporary base there as I do some experimenting.

Some questions I plan on answering:

-Does the weight of your character affect the chance of you falling in?

-Are there any reliable ways to collect items without falling in?

-What items will and won't spawn?

    -How long are respawn times?

If you have any tips and tricks or answers to these questions, post it here please!

  13. I was thinking instead of individual nuts it could be a trail mix. Essentially a man-made cat-tail. More calorie dense, but decays over time. An excellent lightweight travel food.

Stew crafting - Add venison or rabbit into a stew pot and add water and a couple bouillon cubes. Bouillon can be found in little packs of 20 all over the map. Does not decay. When eaten on its own, gives 20 calories but heavily decreases thirst meter.

  14. I usually get wolves by:

    1) Baiting a rabbit or deer into them and shooting them as they feast on the carcass.

    2) Shooting a wolf that's eating

    3) Getting lucky and getting a solid hit on them with a revolver as they charge (DO NOT rely on this as a method, last resort only. Avoiding confrontations is key) I will usually find their corpse a day or so later while i'm exploring. Look for ravens circling over near where you shot it.

    100 lbs! XD

Actually my limit is right at the ability to run and not run.....If I loose the ability to run, I drop junk.

I'm super bad at leaving things behind, so I'm always walking around with a full bag... I'm consciously trying to learn otherwise, but whenever I leave some item behind, I always seem to regret it later :D

Yep, same problem. I always try to carry everything, sometimes I risk journeys while I can't sprint. Bad habit.
