  1. Does anyone else have the desire to recreate their cache of TLD inventory in real life?

This is my first experiment with reishi tea. It's not exactly flavorful, but I may have used more water than was necessary.

I also noticed that the reishi tea in the game is yellow in color, but the mushrooms in the game appear to be red reishi, which is what I used. There are yellow reishi mushrooms which produce a yellow tea, but they seem to be much more yellow overall than those in TLD.

    Anything new here?

Some players have suggested in other threads that the Community Hall might end up being placed near the Rural Crossroads in PV (the area with the small convenience store and houses).

It's definitely not in Sandbox yet. I made a point to look after the last update - started a whole game just for exploring PV more thoroughly.

    thanks  for the info guys!
So far I have only found containers marked 'empty', no gun or rounds or drinks but I have found a revolver book!    I'll keep looking then!

@redfish Another thing I'd add is to make sure you're looking on floors and surfaces in addition to containers. I found a decent number of rounds scattered loosely in unexpected places, and they're hard to notice due to their size.

The worst thing is getting caught in a blizzard in that orchard by the farmhouse. So easy to lose your bearings as those rows of trees all look the same.

Agreed! In my longest running game, I used the magnifying glass to build a line of single twig fires to guide me safely through blizzards. I oriented them so that when I stood in front of the two cooking rocks, I would be walking in the right direction. Maybe that would be useful in PV (or alternately, avoiding PV at all costs 😂)

  5. @redfish I had 400+ day game which started loooong before Steadfast Ranger, and after I installed the update, I decided to go on a "tour" of the map to look for the new items. I've found a few Go! energy drinks, multiple revolvers, many revolver rounds, and 3 revolver study books so far. So installing the update will definitely spawn the new items for you, but you may need to visit a lot of places to find them.

You are playing a Pilgrim game and you want advice on places which are particularly good sources of lot !

You will need a 40 ton truck and a warehouse in which to store the loot.

Stop playing the baby game, play at Voyager level.  It's meant to be a game about surviving in harsh mountain conditions not about safely walking around collecting loot.

Meh, I totally disagree. If it was "meant" to be one particular type of survival game, there wouldn't be a series of different levels, each with unique challenges.

The thing I love about Pilgrim mode is that it feels the most real to me. Like the disclaimer says at the start of the game, wolves don't typically attack people. And even with the supply line difficulties mentioned at the gas station and other places, there would be an insane amount of *additional* loot around in every single home, shop, and garage. And there would likely be more small sheds and shops around, as repairs and parts are always needed in remote areas.

Tons of everyday things are also missing, like lighters, binoculars, chainsaws, etc. that could make the game either much easier or much more complicated, depending on what a player would be allowed to do in game.

At the end of the day, you make the game your own. If you like to play on Pilgrim and don't have to worry about every freaking wolf biting your face off, you create different goals. And there are still blizzards, bears, moose, falls, weak ice, electrocution, etc. etc. etc. to navigate through skillfully.

  7. At this point, I've played countless hours of Survival Mode, and I can't believe it's still this enjoyable. I think Wintermute is great, and I'm hopeful about Episode 3, but at the end of the day, the gameplay of each new episode can only last so long. New regions and interesting additions that trickle into Survival Mode are more exciting to me, since I get to fiddle with them indefinitely.

I am glad to hear that the episode is trucking along, even though it's taking a lot longer than expected. Since I've never worked as a game developer, I have no idea what a typical timeline is for updates with a smallish crew and limited resources. So maybe that makes it easier for me to deal with as well.

Dunno how I feel about Blue light from a flare being any different from a regular one, yknow? I get the whole Flashlight Gameplay element (which I didnt like at first, but I get it, you need a special tool for those "special nights" *soo breathtaking still* But this new flare with "different powers" so to speak, seems odd to be honest :/ Ive said it before, any changes I thought I wouldnt like in the past, I have, so as a fan and not a designer, I do trust in them. But anyone else feel this way? Also, if youre adding Timberwolves to Story Mode, pleeeeaase put them in the Sandbox as well!!!!!! As always, love yall in the community, and Raph and the rest of the team ^_^

@The Gentleman Bastard I felt the same way about the blue flares initially, but I think in the end, it'll really depend on how they work in-game. I prefer realism over spooky tools that are only really useful for one part of the game, which is why I almost never carry the flashlight around.

  9. I agree with Hawk. Let's say you search a container, and it contains 3 revolver rounds in total. If you decide to stop the search early and leave 2 of the 3 rounds in the container, you're going to be able to pull the remaining 2 out the next time you search the container.

Unless you're talking about a container marked "Empty" that magically has more rounds in it, a container marked "Searched" will always have more supplies in it.

I was actually thinking about this the other day - the game devs could have easily not included that info when you hover the cursor over a container, and it's really helpful to know that a container is truly empty without having to waste time searching each one. I wish this was true for cars as well, but I mark them "Empty" by popping the hood if it's not dented.

    Hmmm....

To know Battery is to love Battery.

@Ice Hole I think I'm more invested in the Adventures of Battery at this point than I am in TLD Episode 3. 😂 Thanks for the lols.

  11. I had a similar issue. 350+ days in my longest game, working towards 500 days and Skilled Survivor, and then the update hit. It was actually pretty enjoyable to search the entire map again for the new items, and it definitely helped me get much closer to 500 days.

I found 3 revolvers (one in the lighthouse at DP), several revolver skill books which helped me get to Level 3 pretty quickly, and plenty of bullets.

I basically turned Mystery Lake into a deer and rabbit graveyard, but I finally got the Skilled Survivor achievement. 💪

  12. Seconding starvation/thirst, unless I'm on Interloper. I guess it doesn't really feel like "survival" when I'm walking around slowly dying because I'm not supplying myself with adequate food and water.

I also once nearly completed the Whiteout challenge, got mauled by two wolves, took shelter in a house, and died in my sleep because I was too distracted by healing from the wounds to pay adequate attention to hunger or thirst (can't remember which). It was so annoying that I never want it to happen again.

  13. I'm on day 460ish in my longest Pilgrim run, and hoo boy does it get boring sometimes! I agree with what others have said about giving yourself "missions".

I decided way back when I started this specific game that I wanted to really explore all the various regions. Climbing to the summit of Timberwolf Mountain to get special loot was surprisingly fun and exciting. The scenery, weather, and available shelters/resources make for a very different experience than parking yourself in the CH garage all day.

Also, I disagree with what others have said about the birch saplings. I don't believe they *technically* respawn, but I've seen them respawn (sometimes in much higher quantities) after a major update. This is more like a refresh rather than a respawn, but it's very helpful for longer games. I doubt birch saplings would be growing all that quickly in subzero temperatures in real life.

Yeah, I have many poltergeists in that old save.

I moved the "Bible" (or at least the book on the altar) from the Milton Church to the ranger's station in the picnic area. It started floating after I broke down the stool underneath it. I'm going to assume it was an act of God and keep it there to bless the resident corpse in the station 😂

  15. I also ate raw meat the day I got Level 5 Cooking, and immediately got food poisoning. I was pleasantly surprised that you can "reboot" ruined meat to 50% - just cooked a bunch of rotten old fish in my longest Pilgrim run.

Seems like the only thing you'd want to avoid is leaving super low condition meat in a container, as I imagine it would disappear once it spoiled completely (like broken sewing kits and other trash). Thankfully ruined meat doesn't disappear when it's left on the floor or on the ground.

Car batteries are kind of a vestigial element from an earlier build of the game.  They might have a purpose in the future, but current state it's kind of like they aren't hurting anything, so the devs just left it in.  They are a good way to mark a car as looted though.  I haven't done it in a while but I used to lift the hood, then RMB them onto the roof of the car.  That was my visual aid that I had nothing left to claim out of that car.

Edit: Now my visual aid is just leaving the hood up.  One less thing to do, y'know?

I lift the hood for that same reason - saves me from wasting time rechecking cars.
