  1. Well continues my Voyager journey. I have stuff to do today so I wont be playing for much longer, I think, but still wanted to play for a while, got really into it lately.

Made my way from Grey mothers to Park office where I dropped most of the good items from my Hushed river valley run. I can recover it later when I interrupt my travels to rest up for a while at Mystery lake. Then, I make my way through the blizzard to the farm below Milton.

Its locked. Dammit. Cant find the key. Ok, decision time - made a fire next to the truck and spent uncomfortable night, sleeping in said truck. Found the dead farmer in the morning - dead behind the farm, with the key in his pocket. Never even occurred to me to look for him there.

Found new small gun book. Roped down to the basin. Moose there - good to know. Spend most of the day looting up the basin area, then climbed down to marshes.

After a night spent in the cave there, Im moving over straight for the Broken Railroad. Lots of meat in my pockets - bear steaks from the bridge troll, and some deer meat I found on a carcass in Marsh ridge (never seen 2.4 kg of meat on a ravaged deer before).

Currently I am in Broken Railroad, its evening, and Im about to rest up by the rope so I can rope down and spend the night in the ravine. Hopefully something bad wont spoil my plans.

  2. Yes! On my Voyager run for achievements, Ive visited the Hushed River valley, about 50% done with the major locations and I have already found both of the biggest treasures of this region :D

Now I just wanna see if I can maybe find that special carcass Ive heard about before... now THAT would be an awesome win.

Also found 3 caches so far, one had a skill book in it, then another skill book (sewing primer, yey!) in a backpack in a cave.

Now just a couple of nice good locations left, I might spend two, three more days before moving on back to the Mountain Town to finish some major locations there, might even try to kill the Bridge troll (errr, I mean bear) for its hide.

  3. :D
Thank you for the follow. Looking forward to chatting with ya, if you are ever up for it :) Dont be affraid to shoot me a message on my Forum index page, or even send in a private message, about anything.

  4. Currently working on a comprehensive Forum functions guide.

    On my "to do" list:
-Formulate suggestion on "customizable mode and what settings it should have".
-Formulate suggestion on improving First Aid system in the game, according to the feedback I got in the Bandage thread.
-Formulate my long-term project - a suggestion that would be generally a major update idea for Sandbox mode, called "determined homesteader" - which would be mostly an update that would add some more craftables, and just generally more options for the end-game fun.

  5. Recently I have been getting into arguments with a couple of people. To the point some might actually feel a personal grudge against me. If you are one of those people, I am sorry for upseting you, in any way. I tend to be vocal sometimes, I can be obnoxious, even stubborn. I like to argue points too, but dont like it once the argument turns into a personal vendetta or just argument for the sake of arguing.

I believe that arguing about a particular topic can be sometimes beneficial in a way that it encourages people to learn more about the subject in order to "outsmart" the other one... but maybe that is just me.

If you read the "about me" section of my profile, you will know that I value constructive criticism. And recently, I feel like I ventured away from that. Getting back on track with that is something I would like to do in the future.

  6. Actually, why not.

    First little tip: Coffee management.

Biggest advantage of coffee is the fatigue reduced buff. This is an amazing help with rope climbing. But, that also means you dont need the buff for very long - just long enough to climb the rope. Coffee is rare & valuable, so unless its a speed run, Id suggest you manage it :D

So, here is how you can stretch out the use of a single cup of coffee:
    1. Drink up a fully new cup of coffee. Hit escape as soon as the bar goes down by about 13%. This will mean you only take a sip of the coffee - from the full cup (0,10kg) you will take a sip, and be left with about 0,08kg. Now, each time you take a sip, leave it "drinking" for more and more - that way you will stretch out a single coffee cup over the course of 4-5 rope climbs. The great thing is that taking this "sip" of coffee gives you the fatigue reduced effect only for a little while, usually just long enough to climb a full rope. You get to save the precious fatigue, and as soon as you no longer need the buff, it will be gone :D

  7. Apologies for my previous status updates. Sometime mid-second song I realized I could get myself into trouble, doing this. After my next two exams, I just might create a little website and maybe even channel where Id post such things. But its probably better not to do it here.

  8. By the same evening, I was already home with every last bit of meat and quarter. Ive chosen to forgo the nights sleep and harvest the quarters with my bare hands. By the morning, every last bit of meat was out on the porch, waiting to be used. I do believe I am set on food for a decent amount of time.

  9. Damn, had to go buy a new mouse, my old one´s stopped registering all the clicks, got jumped by a wolf because my bow wouldn't draw. Sad to see this old one go - had it for literally 4 years of daily use. Doubt I will ever have a reliable mouse like that again.

  10. Day 44 of Voyager run for achievements. Its night, just finished last skill book I have left here. Still have more left on waiting for me at the Milton park office, a LOT more, or at least I believe so. Next order of business - go get them, and the other items as well. Gonna pack light, see if I can get it back and forth in a day, after all, it is two fairly exhausting rope climbs.

  11. Day 45.
The plan was to go pick the stuff up from Milton park. Left early in the morning with full fatigue. Made it to the cave, and noticed the bear, patrolling the bottom plateau under the Trappers. Ive decided that after I finish up my run for items, I will need food, and I need another rug to craft a coat, eventually. This bear will have to die.

I went on a very light run, just clothes, bow and 4 damaged arrows, a few odds, and ends. Collected fuel on my way through the cave. Slept at the end of the cave for 2 hours. Down the one rope I go, I go grab a hatchet that's lying in the snow by the nearby corpse (don't want it to rust up, do we? :D) - then continue on to Milton rope. Wolf is minding his own business this time. Before I climb the rope, I take a sip of a coffee.

I grab all the beautiful stuff I had in Milton´s park office, including the bear rug, now 90% cured. Too bad I dont have one at nearly that capacity, crafting that would be awesome... two advanced rifle books, one frontier, sewing primer and target practise books. And a cooking book, I believe. Climb tired me up, and the bed here is warm, so I take clothes off except for rabbit hat and gloves, and take a 5 hour nap.

Its evening, so I dress up, and down the rope I go. Wolf still doing his thing. I stop by the cave to grab all the coal in there, and the bedroll before it gets ruined. I finish off the rest of my coffee, and up the rope I go. After a short walk through the cave, I am back at Mystery lake.

Too late to trekk home to Office. Hungry, too. Remembered that I dropped two pieces of venison by the Trappers ages ago. So, spending night at Trappers - actually, maybe not a bad idea... tommorow, it shall be the bear hunting day...

Day 47, time to bag a second bear. Still before day 50, so I still cant use a firearm to kill it, if I want the silent hunter achievement... nevermind. Going old-school :D.

Cant find a frickin single stone for the life of me. Had to walk all the way behind the stone wall of the Milton cave to find some pieces. Going to need those to lure the bear into the ambush.

I sit on a sharp rock by the entrance to the Trappers... this should make me out of the reach of the bear. Here he comes... One stone throw - he trudges to it. Another stone throw, right down below me... He comes by, obediently. Stand up, draw up the bow... Thump. Roar. Bear falls down. Headshot, clean kill. Dont think I have ever instakilled a bear with a bow before. Woah. Gotta love level 4 archery.

Ripped off about 12 kg of meat from the carcass, then quartered it. Nightfall comes. I take the proccessed bear and shove it inside the house. Next couple of days consist of me, cooking up steaks and water as I rest and reach the Cookbook, then target practise, then sewing primer.

Loads of high quality clothing is starting to degrade, will have to start doing a lot more repairs... also should pay a visit to Pleasant valley farmstead, where i left some high end clothes in bad condition as well. Wanna repair it before it wears out entirely.

  12. Day 50. Spend a few days just relaxing, getting ready for another adventure. Had to decide where to go - shall I finish up looting the PV, or should I try to make my way through the Ravine?

Decided to go into a ravine, and spend the night sleeping in it so I can climb up in the noon of 51st day, without the need for an injection. The ravine had a real nice prize - an advanced guns book. Still, I decided to go visit the PV first. Now, I am going to finish up looting it, then move over to Coastal, and try to finish my "fast loot over the world with the Desolation point, by then, I should hit my first level 5 skills. At least, that is the plan.

50% of the world explored. Havent been everywhere, it is entirely possible I missed some books in the more remote places. But overall, with the exception for rifling and sewing books, Im satisfied. Quite a lot of archery books this time around. Could have used less - very easy to level up archery even without it.

  13. Doing fairly well on my Voyager Achievement run. Day 24 just started, already got most of the game essentials down. Got two bows and 8 arrows, Cooking, fire starting and archery already on lvl 3, plus several books-left-to-read on how to process carcasses and on shooting, of course. No point in reading those till Ive looted whole world, anyway. So far been on TWM, part of PV, most of Mystery Lake locations and now Im deliberating whether to go Mountain Town & Hushed river valley or Forlorn Muskeg and Broken Railroad. I like HRV better plus wanna get that satchel up there, so probably going there first.

  14. Forgot there is no rope here. Did not anticipate that... but no matter. I can simply change my plans, go visit and probably spend the night in Hunting lodge first, or maybe, if all goes well, come from Lodge with the rope in time to make it down the ravine anyway.

  15. Forlorn Muskeg has became quite a hostile place since last time I visited. Cool. Cant wait to come back, battle hardened with the survival knowledge of old...

The high blind also had yet another archery book - have 3 of those and already level 3... it would appear I will soon have the level 5, without even crafting more then one bow, 4 arrows and barely shooting 14 critters so far... cannot beat this knowledge.

Though I would be more glad for more gun books and books on sewing.

  16. Forlorn Muskeg.

Im freezing. Im half dead. Its awful weather outside. I grab a few sticks that I come across, as I cut my way to the low blind. I know my only chance to live is to make it to the Hat creek cave, where I can hopefully reculpurate, especially if I actually catch the infection.

I make a fire to warm up, and I cook two cups of reishi tea from the mushrooms I grabbed earlier. These are my last chance in case the infection hits. No peroxide bottle in the blind... just more bullets for both firearms. Im getting desperate... what now...

I start walking when winds pick up and blizzard launches. This is it. No chance I will reach it on my 20% condition unless I do something... I rip open the Go! energy drink and chug it in one sweep. This boost of energy is great! And this fatigue boost and stamina boost will certainly give me a chance!

I run what I can towards the creek, as Im freezing to death.

I reach the bottom of the creek, and 10% of condition is shown by a blurry vision of my screen.

    I reach the upper lake.

    5% condition.

I finally jump into the cave, at alarming 3% of condition left. I am safe, for this very moment... but who knows what happens if infection strikes? I will for sure die then...

  17. Hey mate.
Noticed on this thread that you thought this forum doesnt allow signatures. It does.
There is an option for "account settings" in the top right corner where your name is.
To speed things up a bit, here is a link:
    http://www.hinterlandforums.com/settings/signature/
It is pretty limited which I think is a good thing, but yea, you can set up a signature if you want it.
Thought you might want to know.

Hey, no problem, glad to help! It took me a bit to find it, but I have recently been dabbing around with many forum settings and there is a lot of cool stuff I feel like people dont know about at all. Things like this Index pages for individual forumers, the ability to follow others and not just topics, many awesome profile settings.

I only know it was possible to add signatures because I remembered one person had it set - so I tried looking for it, and found it in the account settings. :D

Time to set up mine as well! :D

  18. Hi everyone!

Been a while since I've posted on forums. I've been very busy! Between work and usual free time stuff I've also started streaming a bit here and there and I've less and less time to post. Also been playing a lot of games lately!

I have a plan to play and stream TLD in near future if that sounds like something might interest ya!

But right now, I'm preparing an event for friends and fellow people of the internet to have fun on the popular game Among Us. Specifically, we will be playing the modded version of the game called Town of Us! If you know among us and wanna join us, shoot me a private message! Don't even worry if you don't have the game - as long as you have a steam account, I've got you covered! You will need a microphone though, and a discord.

If meeting new people online, playing deception based games and having fun interests you, we will be playing on Saturday at 12:00 Chicago time.

  19. I am hungry. I should go and make some pancakes... but the kitchen is over there, and this bed feels so damn comfy...

  20. I am sick. : /

  21. I am sooo hungry IRL, and I have everything that i need to make kickass homemade tortillas... yet I am so lazy to actually do it :D

  22. I give up. Time to make some pasta to satisfy my need to feed, tortillas tommorow :D

Was playing TLD, forgot I was cooking pasta till I hear it bubbling agresivelly... overcooked the pasta a bit, but its still great!

So, overcooked pasta & dogs, melted cheese and onions. If there ever was a white trash version to a breakfast of the champions, this would be it! :D How fitting for me :D

  23. I hate being sick. I just want to sing, but cant because I have a cold, and it sounds nosey and just baaad.

    :(

  24. I havent really been around the forums for a long time. I am certain I would not be welcomed. There was a time I was putting together a case with proof case-to-point to point out to most of the subtle manipulating that has been going on for a while, at least at the time.

Then my exams hit and I just did not have the time to keep up. Well, exams are over, yet I still feel no desire to return because I would likely not feel welcomed anymore.

I am content with how much I did for the community, even if it were behind the scenes and never recognized, getting credit for it was never important to me. Making the community better was. And even if there are those in here now who perverse that to boost their own egos, I know that there are some amongst you who care for this community and are keeping it going even if its behind the scenes and without any gratitude. This is how these forums always worked.

This is not a goodbye of any sort, but I figured some people might expect me to come back at any time now - this is me letting those who care know that I am not yet ready to do that. I have also stopped putting cases together to prove the manipulation, because I feel very dispirited to keep trying to do that.

In the end, I dont believe it would stop the manipulation and intriques anyway.

  25. I know I have not been active on the forums for a long while, I barely ever pop in here and there to post a quick comment or so.

I had plans here on the forums, most excited I was about my collab with @DarKube and @SneakySquid, and I hope I get that chance, but if I dont, I am sorry to my fellow collab partners for leaving them with it. Should it happens, I will try to get my ideas to them via someone else, and they have my full blessing to take over my idea in its entirety.

I have been spending a lot of time on modded Skyrim, I had an itch for a more RPG centered The Long Dark survival game, with the correct mods, Skyrim has provided just that. I love and will always love this game for what it is, but there is also a lot of satisfaction in walking the frozen tundra of Tamriel, shooting bow to hunt deer, bears and trolls, camping by a campfire in a tent of leather or hides, and just enjoy the freedom in it, with its RPG and random encounter features to spice things up. I will get back to TLD eventually.

But right now, I am having so much fun with the Skyrim. I initially wanted to try it out because I was inspired by all the talk of mods, and because I long-since suspected that should TLD become open to mods, it would solve their entire problem with lack of "features", because as soon as they would open the game up to modding, the community could have their own features made for the game, and everyone could eventually be satisfied, because even if the Devs did not share the same outlook for the game with these particular players, these players could get what they want via a community made mod.
