Food poisoning

Are scavenged carcasses more likely to give you food poisoning than fresh kills or is it all the same? I'm thinking that wolves and such would leave far more bacteria on a partially devoured kill than would be there on a fresh one.

I think it is mostly based on the percentage status of the meat. So far, eating raw meat/fish has given me FP every single time (about 7 or 8 times)... cooked meat is dangerous below 70%

Even above 70% cooked meat can get you. I've gotten it twice in the last 15 days in one of my runs, once at 74% and once at 73%.

but to answer your question....

no there is not difference if you scavenge or not.

I tend to leave a wolf roaming around just for that purpose, I can save on bullets by harvesting what they kill.

I think they may have fixed the problem with calculating probability of various events so food poisoning is less likely in the latest release however more food items cause FP. I seem able to consume any packaged foods without worry but others report not. The granola bars seem to be most likely. It's just too difficult to make accurate observations using only anecdotal evidence. We need to resort to testing just to measure the various meat decay factors. It sure seems buggy. I would need to see the source code.
