Consumption of Charcoal to Treat Food Poisoning

Recommended Posts

In real life, you can consume Charcoal in order to cure Poisoning in the body. The proteins of charcoal bind with the poison and then push them out of the body (either by throwing up or sitting on the toilet). While I realize that Antibiotics in the form of Reishi Tea, Burdock Tea, and Pills are already used to acquire this treatment, I still believe that this would be a great asset to have for 100-1000 day runs on Interloper.

I like this idea, you get a vote.

I don't think charcoal contains protein in any notable amount... If I'm not mistaken, it's the surface area of the activated charcoal that makes it so good at what it does.

activated charcoal gets rid of standard poisoning, acids, bases, and some nutrients
but food poisoning is not any of those, but rather a virus or bacterial or parasitic infection. hence you needing anti biotics. but food poisoning can cause vomiting, which activated charcoal can make it worse
I see no reason why it would be a good alternate treatment

as far as the game goes, even when you loot everything, beachcombing still occasionally has antibiotics for long runs

You'd have to make it Activated Charcoal first, ideally through oxidizing it. In other words, you'd have to cook the charcoal for an hour or two in game terms to turn it into Activated Charcoal.
