Pilgrim Run at Desolation Point

Bored of the easy living Pilgrim style at Coastal Highway, I decided to try a random selection of destination and have landed at Desolation Point. It is beautiful as a place! Just breath taking. I am wandering about the map, enjoying that feeling of really having no idea where I am going, what there is to find, what resources there are... this adds something to the experience. Just as it can be nice to know maps, there is a nice challenge in not knowing maps. As I like very outdoorsy focused settings, this one is to my liking! On day 2, some harvested dear carcasses on my door step of the Lighthouse, and out for a wander on a clear blue day. Lovely!

I'm envious of new players, for this very reason.  Enjoy it :)

The best places are outside the church and at Katie's secluded corner but no official bunny grove I don't think..

Oh and the island near the ricken..

Well, a rabbit grove finally did map-- near the church just as you said. It has been OK so far. I like playing this location on this level, it is a lot more hand to mouth than say, Coastal Highway, and has a more "survival" feel about it, but still low level danger at the Pilgrim level.

I don't really notice the names of areas if I'm honest..  I know where the bunnies are though..the church is my home when I'm in desolation  so I see plenty.if the wolves aren't trying to kill them all..

I'm glad you're enjoying it,it is a good place to stay.. especially if the moose is there, but it's so rare for me...   It is a bit far away for my liking ,as I don't like coastal much so don't head that way very often..maybe after perseverance is added ,which I hope leads to or from desolation point..

So Desolation Point was thin on tools, and whetstones. It provides a decent living with a knife and hatchet (mainly to chop ice to fish) but with these on the wane, I made the transition to Coastal Highway. Normally I hate transition zones, and tend to just play in one zone. But the transition over to Coastal Highway was very easy (even for me!) and so now I am stocking up on necessaries in Coastal Highway before heading back to Desolation Point.

Yes DP........ Small but nice. I remember now - the rabbits !!! It was actually my last region on my 100 day in each region challenge in a run that lasted 1300 days :D

This was before TFTFT update and before improved beachcombing (which is insanely OP on interloper) on Interloper difficulty. Check this out:

So I am continuing with my Pilgrim run on Desolation Point-- starting to get a bit bored of the area. It might be getting to be time to move on to a new region or even start a new run. One of the disadvantages of living in the Lighthouse is the single burner fireplace-- making it a constant to get fuel and boil water--something like 2 hours of boiling needed for 1 days worth of water. Boring. So I have wandered over to the Stone Church which has a fire barrel with 2 slots, to boil up an excess of water. I think I have explored pretty much all there is here.

I enjoy visits to Desolation Point, especially being able to "live" in a lighthouse, which is something I'd love to do in RL.

I play on Pilgrim, so the wolves and the bear (and occasionally the moose) are not a threat to my peace.

On a couple of occasions, where the wolves were downing multiple deer and rabbits in front of me, I've set up two campfires outside of the lighthouse. Started up a marathon session of cooking meat & stockpiling water, as well as running inside to use the little pot belly stove. It's easy enough to gather up enough wood and coal in the area to keep them all going for hours & gives you a lot of charcoal (nice if you're in the process of mapping or planning to make ammo). You could set up a couple of campfires in the Stone Church in the same way.
