Questions about transponder caches and downed aircraft

Dose anyone know roughly how many transponder caches there are per any given region? I've only played for about an hour with the Handheld Shortwave and I found one cache in the forsaken Airfield. That got me wondering what the range was on the radio? I was also curious how many downed aircraft there might be?

Several detailed guides have been popping up on Youtube over the past few days.  I'm not going to specify any, but a search in Youtube's search engine for "The Long Dark, all "X" (e.g. transponder, bunker, transmitter) locations should yield some results for you.

•    BRR - 1 (found with blue signal)
