Purpose for releasing rabbits

I'd be glad if we could keep an alive rabbit in hands, then upon releasing it (alive) it would run for quite a distance in straight line in front of you.

That'd be a good new way to hunt wolves.

I guess that would count as making hunting wolves something somewhat predictable again. I think that all recent changes are a massive hint that this isn't in any way wanted anymore.

I agree with that, the baiting was way too easy (as with any poor AI I guess). Then it could be released and wander randomly like before. You wouldn't be able to know if the wolf would end up on you or the rabbit. Plus there is already a very high cost in keeping a rabbit alive. There would be many many situations where I'd chose not to do that because of the smell bar.

I'd rather be able to walk with a captured rabbit for the sole purpose of releasing it inside the mountaineer's hut.

That's kinda.... the same with a dead rabbit, not? Anyways, I somewhat like the idea.

You can always chase them to ward wolves. This way you get the wolf plus, a free rabbit.
