Crafting bug or intended behaviour?

Hello guys, I stumbled on a weird thing and not knowing if it's a bug or intended I thought I'd ask here first... I hope it isn't the wrong section!

Anyway, I was halfway through happily crafting a moose cloak when I noticed that I could start crafting a moose satchel as well, with the same hide! I tried and it actually worked: I crafted both until they had only some minutes remaining (hitting esc is pretty useful in this case) and now I have an almost complete satchel (1 gut, 1 moose hide and 8 minutes remaining) and a completed moose-hide cloak. As expected the moose hide disappeared when I finished crafting the cloak.

I'll put screenshots and details inside a spoiler tag to make the post more compact:

Here we have the moose cloak, almost done:5b40b2a58e8fd_screen_(-320)_a3a3cebd-2ac9-41cd-9304-88d3e830f83a.thumb.png.8835783d6626a94a44f0d45ecafaf4e7.png

And here's the moose satchel, almost done as well. Notice how I have only 1 moose hide in my inventory, I used it to craft both:5b40b2a102ee3_screen_(-320)_ab8d0833-2580-4998-a717-18a63a712895.thumb.png.5a39be03898a6bf31992779deb6c06da.png

After crafting both for several hours I still had one hide, one in progress satchel and one in progress coat:5b40af404b89d_screen_(-32-1)_db290497-5bab-478e-a923-fa0ab8870ac6.thumb.png.a174d5ffe03bdde9d3c408910c762efb.png5b40af448375e_screen_(-32-1)_120a16d0-9596-43bb-a198-d3b1f8e164cb.thumb.png.d1677d6013e86d0d90f24a286ea731a3.png5b40af48bebef_screen_(-32-1)_d4e4d44b-3c73-4dfd-abbb-4aac73747e12.thumb.png.295059e00e92d77898cb5ad00e9e13f3.png

Nice way to invest in crafting when you have time to spare and lots of food, but is this intended or should I submit a bug report?

The spoiler tag messed up and I can't edit the text so I'll copy it here: Nice way to invest in crafting when you have time to spare and lots of food, but is this intended or should I submit a bug report?

It's not a bug, when you start making something the "in progress" item will appear but the components are actually used up when enough time passes. I noticed it with wolf jackets, the pelts are consumed one after another when a certain amount of hours are spent working.
This may bring up an interesting idea. Making a truckload of "in progress" bear coats with half an hour of work, and using them as barbaric house decorations.

Of course, making an almost complete item with no components is weird.

Exactly, and it can be exploited. For example, I was in CH sitting on a pile of moose and bear meat, with plenty of time for crafting. I crafted both as I said and then I moved to ML. Now I have to invest my time in getting food, but since I almost finished crafting the moose satchel when I was comfortable and well fed, I'll be able to finish it in less than 10 minutes as soon as I'll get another moose hide instead of having to invest the full 7.5 hours in it.

Yes, it's a bit crazy that you can make a stock of incomplete items while you have nothing better to do, and wait for new materials at the right time to start mass production. It would make some sense (but still being a bit weird) on the other hand if you could start several projects but not finishing any of them (say, you could work at one till it's 60% and two at 20% each, but then you're stuck until you get more components).

But I still haven't tried hanging virtual bear coats all over the place and I'd really like to try before it's fixed.
