Once again I came to conclusion how ridiculously overpowered beachcombing now is. Playing low recovery harsh settings + max bleak weather and spawning in DP, there was blizzard every day, and seemingly every morning you were able to just walk out to the edge of the ice and, among other gifts, get very high calories fish for free from these _loot crates_. There was no particular need to bother with other food sources when you just know the next free package is about to spawn. It's ludicrously easy. If we cannot have beachcombing (and the new luxury bunkers) disabled in the Custom settings, I'm just have to ignore them then.

But pretending they don't exist isn't very thrilling so I still wish for disable option. Would the Custom disable slider be hard to implement @Admin?

(Btw we also still need Custom slider for Ptarmigan spawns)

True. Im on a similar run ( Max bar drainage, lowest possible day and night health regen, worst weather with winds maxed out, no perks, no birch bark) and i went to start a base in CH yesterday. I have found load of stuff and the blizzards are just so constant it respawns really fast.

Beachcombing seems to have tuned down substantially sometime during September.  In game (Voyageur) I exited Coastal Highway for about 100 game days to visit PV and TWM.  Upon returning I noticed various changes: (1) more thin ice conditions in areas where post blizzard items show up, (2) different locations for the items that wash up every week or so with or without blizzards and (3) a marked reduction in high value items on the ice like tool kits, flare shells, rifle rounds, rifle cartridges, knives and hacksaws.  Fish are less common.  About the only items seemingly unchanged are clothing found in suitcases, trunks and lockers.

Fortunately I hoarded a good deal of loot beachcombing loot for my current Voyageur run while I could.

I have only noticed the increase in thin  ice areas and graphic bug that came with it - when ur in a fishing boat washed ashore and enter the cabin the ice beneath starts to break and the crack graphic overlays on the boat/texture. Same with metal containers washed ashore.

Item wise still OP. I even found one carabine shell which i never ever did on that difficulty so they did something.... but i dont really know what - no info in patch notes.

Honestly - i dont feel a diffrence after the 150 bug fixes that occured. Maybe bcoz i havent had issues that occured on PC. It feels more broken - now when i press right on my controller the weapon that gets chosen is mostly flare gun and it was always bow. I dont see changes in snow lightning, no changes in interiors during diffrent weather conditions. I really dont know what was fixed. I still have to place the pot first to cook something and cant just cook str8 like with water boiling. Still i have silent blizzards. Waiting for next part of the update and we will see.

I've noticed the opposite, even PV has been very quiet..

    That is strange indeed.

If you mean wind variability in the settings then no, not from my experience.. I play with it on low and it just makes the blizzards quiet.

Most of my blizzards are quiet as well but im 100% sure that is a bug. I hate this one tbh.

What kind of regime is this? Is this from a time capsule? If anything, I haven't logged into the game for three days

Nope i cant play time capsules bcoz im on Xbox. Super Interlooper is just Custom mode that is significantly harder than interloper.

  3. Hello survivors,

Is it just me but did the Blizzard frequency has increased after recent update? And anyone know if the "wind direction change" preset in custom option affects blizzard frequency ? Im currently on a Super Interloper run (worst possible weather, maxed out bar drainage, minimum day & night health regen, no perks, no birch bark tea, rest interloper settings) on day 61 and im ML finishing crafting clothes and the weather is INSANE ! Blizzards every day, every day. I dont remember having this bad weather in game especially in ML.

I have played on this setting and even worse for some time now (before and after the updates) and i didnt recall that many blizzards in ML.

I am a truck driver. I spend a lot of time on the road. I have little free time and a small portion of that free time I spend relaxing in this game and playing for the last few years. I have spent many months already on one game file collecting and moving all the essential and misc. items from every region to PV so i can move into CH then search DP for what ever I was missing. I have gain level 5 in every skill except ice fishing and mending. I have spent over 120 grueling in game days drudging like a tank through vast amounts of distances to collect everything to move to CH. I have searched almost every bunker and have gotten the radio and was one bunker short of accessing bunker omega.

With no rope available in the Ravine, out of the two spots that their is SUPPOSE to spawn, I decided to trek down the rock as I usually do to get to the bottom and go into bleak inlet. I dropped near the rope and bruised myself, which is fine, I was more than half way down and dropped down a foot to the next ledge where the game decided to kill me instantly and end my game. I was NOT heading down to an inaccessible area of the map. I was going down to the ravine that leads to bleak inlet and the game was deleted after 5 months I have worked hard to get to that point.

I will no longer support this game in the future, nor play it. I will uninstall and delete anything related to this game from my pc, xbox, and chrome. I will unsubscribe to anything related to this game on every social media platform and find a better game with more competent designers that have more common sense in the games that they create. I wish all you poor bastards the best of luck with having the patience with the people that created this game for so many years, and that they still have not added or fixed the most simplest issues with this survival game. The waste of time I have just experienced has let an indefinite sour taste in my mouth for the creators and the game itself.

    Best of luck -

Sorry to hear You lost ur run. It is known in the community that you cant goat down in this specific place even if it seems you can. There is an invisible wall of death there.

The way to goat down to the lower ravine is on the left of the bridge leading to ML from CH (still ravine) and im not talking about the broken bridge.

I remember when i lost my 748 ingame day Interloper char and was raging so bad. Uninstalled the game but after 15 minutes i installed it again and started a new run. I cant caount how many runs i lost up to date - its part of the game, part of the learning curve.

Hope You will come back. This game is sooooooooo relaxing after hard days work for me. It calms my nerves really. I dont work like You do and i know truckdriving is hard work but im CEO in a ~ 500 ppl company and managing all of them is often very stressfull. TLD is like a nerve therapy for me really.

Can we get some wind related improvements? For one, walking into wind shouldn't slow you down as much. Anything below 60 km/h without gusts should have almost zero effect and below 40 km/h absolutely no effect. Gusts are where the player should be slowed down, unless that makes the game feel like its stuttering. The player should also slowly become used to the strong winds, maybe as a hidden skill or badge (or both). This can also be where windproofness becomes more useful as it would reduce the effects of wind, rather than just the windchill

This makes sense. Would be cool if they actually add a wind speed meter not just wind chill X degrees celcius. Than it would make sense that 90 KM wind will slow you down etc. It would create an opportunity to change the system so it would be dangerous to climb ropes if wind is severe (falling down/ increased stamina meter drainage) and traversing fallen logs (would be a chance to get blown off by the wind). Its a bit odd that when wind is strong that it decreases your walk speed severely it doesnt affect you when walking on logs. Something similar like the wobbling while redlining. Would be a really really nice adition.

I'll add my favorite interloper cheesy tactic.  Bows wear out fairly quickly.  It's wise to have a spare on hand when you're traveling, but who wants to carry the weight of a secondary bow?  Also, you can't even wear out the first one and get rid of it because the radial menu seems to randomly pick one of the two bows you're carrying!

The solution is to 90% complete a new bow, to the point where it requires no further raw materials.  This unfinished bow weighs zero kg, and can be completed with an hour of work at any work bench.

This idea works for other items as well, but the bow is where you really need it.

Yeah i heard that trick in one of recent @Zaknafein videos. Clever.

I always hate when carrying two bows the system always picks the one with the most condition.

     silent blizzards are cool☺️

Ugh, really. I hate them. They broke the game immersion for me. I would gladly play older version of the game without the update when it was not broken. I hate it that they didnt fixed it. But what can you do right? Take it or leave it it seems.

Really, why revert this change? Now I have to go hunt another bear to get my warm coat and then two more for the second one...

If it were up to me it would require more materials than those 2 skins and 4 guts and would be 60 % chance of crafting it (40% it fails and you loose the materials). The Bear coat is way too powerfull to make it that easy. Bears are easy to hunt.

Honestly, I find that with appropriate planning and provisioning... nearly (I emphasize nearly) any place can be used for a long-term encampment.
Some will certainly be more challenging than others.

Ofc that is correct. I have lived in all of the regions for 100 days without leaving on interloper on my 1200+ day challenge. Some require diffrent approach but you can stay and survive in every region in the game if you know what ur doing ofc.

IDK about you, but I find that since the Free-Form Fishing Update, Monolith Lake and area makes an excellent place for long-term survival. Why?

    • Shelter very close to the lake: Lake Cave is an excellent base. Never get cabin fever, and there's fishing just outside your doorstep.
    • Loads of food: Lots o' fish in Monolith Lake, and, with a couple of tip-traps, they can be caught passively. There's also rabbits (also passively snareable), and a quick walk to Peak Cave will provide Ptarmigan for making broth. That's not to mention the two deer that spawn just south and west of the lake, and the moose which occasionally shows up. In a pinch, there's lots of cattails, too.
    • Never run out of lamp oil. Just cook the fish.
    • Fuel: tons of that around too. Firewood spawns everywhere, and Lake Cave, Peak Cave, and Pensive Vista are all close by with loads of coal.
    • Bored of Lake Cave? Spend a night at Pensive Vista. Or Peak Cave. The views from both locations are incredible. They're also less noisy if you don't like the waterfall sound.
    • Workbench not too far: If you have unlocked Bunker Gamma, a few hours' walk away you have a workbench. And some harvestable metal if you need to make repairs.
    • No predators: Wolves don't ever walk onto the lake. No bears around either. The moose is only there sometimes. Don't worry about your smelly fish, they won't be found.

With that said, there are a couple disadvantages of living in this area...

    • No bed: you got to bring a bedroll. Leaving a bearskin bedroll in the cave of your choice is best.
    • Reclaimed wood, metal, and cloth are rare: you might need to make a supply run to Milton every now and then to get those supplies.
    • It's a long way to make tools: Going to Spence for making new tools is quite a long way's walk.
    • And even farther for ammo: If you want ammo, you need to go to Bleak Inlet. Maybe just use a bow and arrows, craftable using local resources?

Overall, though, I strongly believe that the area around Monolith Lake is a solid choice for long-term living, or at least making a vacation home. Yes, I know some people will disagree with me and say that Jackrabbit Island or the Mountaineer's Hut or Camp Office are the cat's meow, but I do recommend giving Monolith Lake at least a try for a week or so. You may be pleasantly surprised ;)

As much as i like the area i dont think its a good place for "long term" living like You said. It also matters how we understand the "long term". For me its 100 days and above without leaving. Also no predators no bears its kinda boring for me as well and the fact that you need to haul a lot of cloth and materials for fixing the bedroll (it decays much faster in caves than interiors). And yes in my opinion the best place for long term is Coastal Highway hands down.

Its a cool place to stay for a while tho, hunt and harvest the moose. Very nice views.

Pesky moose never show up when you want one😊

Yeah tell me about it. I just crafted a bow y-day on my new run (previous ended in me sleeping in a cave for 7 hours and was 100 sure my 10% warmth bonus from clothes will suffice - froze to death.) and would love to get one i ML where i am atm on day 10. If i dont find one i just go to AC for the backpack and in most cases i find one in TWM or AC.

As for mobilising hinterland to change how they do things ,well.. that's not for us to do..

Well Leeanda in the end ofc they decide how they run the business but who else than the customers can influence the company to change for better? Dont You think?

they work hard and produce content when they are ready to..

    As it should be....

How do you know that for fact? Its just your opinion not facts.

When they advertise a product and charge money for it they make a contract with the customer to deliver. I dont see them produce when they are ready for after that tbh as you stated. Ofc I personally got over it and will w8 no problem but from a business point of view... well thats my opinion.

Dont get me wrong i have a lot of respect for the team and their work. I love the game As much As you @ManicManiac and @Leeanda
