  1. I absolutely hate the fact that it is so easy to discharge the handgun accidentally! I don't know how many times I have gone to pick up a stick, open a gate, etc. and BLAMO! Wasted a round, scared the crap out of me, and why? Doesn't happen with the rifle, only the pistol (and maybe flare gun though I don't usually have that out unless I am worried about a bear). I bet I have wasted 30 rounds this run alone! What is your biggest gripe?
  2. I just noticed rubbings at BR Prison, took a look on the ice, and there was a big fat moose. Exactly what I need to keep fed AND make some fancy clothing. Hit with two arrows and 3 .303 rounds to get him down. Fog rolled in which had me worried as I was getting tired and day was turning to night. Whew! I am on PC BTW...
  3. The permanent one also seemed to get a makeover with the update. I had items stored there and they are now all gone. Anyhow, walked in and saw things floating in mid air:
  4. OMG! Cannot believe this...so I am PV looking for fuses, head over to the barn and halfway across the field it goes from flurries to white out. Almost panic cuz I can't see a thing...but luckily I had sighted the barn before it got bad so I kept going straight, hit the road, saw some trees, found the barn. Inside and safe. I had searched all of Thomson's Crossing and the Farmhouse and its associated barn, but not the big red one. Anyhow, nothing there. Then I realized there is a truck in the barn. Open it up, and there is a freaking BATTERY right there in PV. I hauled one all the way to Milton from FA and another all the way to PV from Milton and neither was necessary! I basically had to drop 15KG which meant being very uncomfortable out in the wild! No flare gun, and a bear walks up on me after killing a wolf in FM. Took out Vaugh's and put two in him, second one made him haul tail, thank goodness or my run might have ended right there...all for no reason whatsoever! So funny!!
  5. That is a great tip! Would never have thought about it until...splash!
  6. OK I am back to the current game and did indeed find parts around everywhere but PV so far. I got all repaired except PV, but at least I was able to haul a battery from Milton to PV, now just got to find some more fuses and I will have the whole network up and operational and start trying to find the goodies! Can't wait. Hoping I don't get stalled looking for the last two fuses I need. I started this part of the run going back to FA, but found no additional wires or fuses there. Lots of batteries though, which will be good to harvest for lead as I am running low on bullets and need to make a run the BR someday soon. This DLC definitely added some enjoyment and new things to do/go. I like it a lot. I also rolled over 365 days on this survival run, first time I have made it a year in survival!!!
  7. I play on PC via Steam and had the same acorn sound issue occur. Definitely a small bug and not platform specific. Also seeing an issue with fire hardened arrows when I only have one arrow left. I will shoot a rabbit, miss, pick up the arrow, and the system doesn't register I have the arrow. So put away the bow, enable it again, and the arrow now shows up. Haven't tried this with regular arrows, but thinking this is just a new bug with FHA...
  8. Haven't played in a few days but found no parts anywhere before I stopped play except FA. Will try to get back to game in the next day or two and try again. Batteries suck to have to haul around. Could they make them 10 kg instead? 15 makes it hard to get from one region to another with one. Guess I will lay out food and other supplies along the route I am going so I can shed a massive amount of carry weight so I can get the batteries from FA to other areas...sigh
  9. All I did was add some text, hit enter, add spoiler start tag, add text, add end spoiler tag, hit enter, add text, hit enter, add spoiler tag, ...
  10. I prepared some acorns...now the audio of cracking the shells won't stop. BUG!!
  11. Ooooh, yeah agree on the parts scrapping entirely. I wish they would allow us to scrap other things as well, like the bow and the whetstone.
  12. OK I started a thread that I thought would document my journey with the new DLC and that I would be able to keep spoiler free. Nah! So here is my new thread on the new update with all spoilers described, but hidden so you can look or ignore. I will do my best to not spoil it for anyone and will add spoiler free descriptions, in case you want to peak. First topic: Acorns - Next topic: hardened arrows - Next topic: Signal Void - Next topic: new gear -
  13. Just figured out how to make fire hardened arrows and made about a dozen to try on the bunnies. Guessing they won't do anything to a wolf, but will shoot one to see if it at least scares them off. I use regular arrows to do this sometimes, so it would be nice if I could use these relatively easier to make and come by arrows for that purpose. Possible spoiler:
  14. Glad you said something, I was just about to say the heck with it and return to normal eating habits as it is a slight pain to only eat off the land AND play the new DLC. I will exhibit more patience and see what happens. Thanks again for the advice!!
  15. I have been eating nothing but meat, cat tails, and water for weeks (in game). When I look at Steam, it says I have 16 of 25 days complete on the Living off the Land challenge. I took a screen shot, when I was also at day 328 of 500 on Will to Live challenge. Spent the last 4 days in FA. Saved and quit, brought up Steam. LotL was still at 16/25 and showing green. WtL was 332 of 500. What gives? I thought well maybe I ate something or drank something and did not remember, but that should reset the counter to 0...and I have been careful to only eat game and cat tails, and no meat was from a stove or freezer, just stuff I have killed. Thoughts? Bug?
  16. I think I am going to like this update. Marched over from TWM to FA yesterday and last night (anyone else stay up past a decent bed time like me???). This morning, made the trek from Junker's to the main terminal and then started looking everywhere. Located lots of new stuff: <spoiler> What am I doing wrong here? </spoiler> Hit two Glimmer Fog periods in two days, of course the first one catching me WAY away from any shelter. Luckily, I did not panic and I was keeping a decent eye on the path back to the nearest shelter so I didn't start completely lost and wander into wolves or worse. Anyhow, gonna explore FA more before heading off to other regions. Hope everyone else is enjoying this as much as I am. New things to learn!!
  17. I am at around 335 days? Got archery by just going ape on killing bunnies! TWM has three clutches of them around the hut, so I would kill all of them, then head to PV and kill all along the way, then move to Carter Dam and take out more bunnies. That made it go quickly. And I am pretty sure I have gotten the sewing one on other runs a LOT quicker than this time so not sure why it is taking so long. I am trying to do a better job of avoiding or killing wolves and bear instead of letting them rip me and my clothes to shreds. That might have a lot to do with it. I even consider just fixing all clothing I find, but that seems a waste of resources so (so far) I have resisted doing that. I have 150 or so pieces of cloth so I could just pound through it...but feels against the grain of the game. Again, congrats on a super achievement!!
  18. Jelly @Merrak!! I am so close, but need the mending skill and that is going slow. I just made a fair amount of progress on it moving from TWM to FA, so maybe in a week or two I will join you as a Skilled Survivor. Fingers crossed! This is, IMHO, the best one of bunch to get! Congrats!
  19. I just gathered a ton of cat tails and used them to mark the way in several places to FA. Not quite there and need to mark how you get in, as I remember it being really tricky last time with lots of ways that looked right but were dead ends...
  20. OK so sorry about the troll...I finally did get a break in the weather on TWM after day 4 and headed to the airfield. Made good progress, ended up in the railway station. Now gotta remember how I got to the airfield as I remember it took me a while to figure it out last time. Will save that for another day (tomorrow that is). Looking forward to seeing what this new event feature in survival is like. Cheers all!
  21. So first thing I noticed is that I have forgotten how to play the story mode. I have been so focused on my survival run, my mind is attune with how that works and it is going to take some time for me to adjust. For instance, I get cold really quickly in story mode as I have not just spent over 300 days gathering clothes and doing things to earn a cold bonus. I cannot eat bad food in story mode because it will make me sick. I don't have a ton of ammo, though I surprisingly have more than I thought I would. I likely cannot shoot very well as I have not gotten to level 5 in all weapons like I have in survival. I have been avoiding BlackRock in survival, but here I am there and much less well equipped to handle it. FUN!! Also, the game reverted some of my settings...took a minute to get my mouse back to click versus click and hold! Hope everyone is enjoying the update...I'll be playing it in earnest after work!! Why am I playing Wintermute you might ask? I am stuck in a blizzard on TWM in survival mode. Been like this for going on 2 days...sigh! Waiting for the weather to lift...
  22. It feels really weird switching from months and months of survival back to story mode! Complete mindset change!!
  23. 1PM EST: My game has started updating on Steam!! 3.67GB and right on time, way to go HL!!
