  1. Perhaps you just reached "endgame"? If they always release new content balanced for hundred-days runs, they'd alienate a lot more players. How about just starting a new game? These regions are challenging even for the more experienced players, and extremely fun to begin a run there. But I like the beggining much more than late game, so I'm also biased here...
  2. I'm playing on the new map and, boy, it is amazing! Still don't know why we cannot simply choose the new map from start, but after a (literal) 10-minute run of Pilgrim I arrived there, and then I started a fresh Custom Game. I started far away from the "good stuff" (let's say I found Forsaken Airfield quite fast) and found a mine entrance before any actual building. And oh boy, having to explore and survive in those undergrounds at the beggining of the game was an awesome experience, very different from any other run I made. Now I'm more or less established, but still exploring the map. I liked the meatless wolves, it's quite a twist. The chemical poisoning is a nice element, but I'm still not sure how the area effect works (it's more about sound than image, it seems, but it's odd). There are a few minor quirks, such as the useless hat, but nothing from the known bug list. Thanks Hinterland for this excellent update!
  3. And yes, only in Custom. If you choose a default difficulty, the spawn is actually random. So, clearly a small (but annoying) bug.
  4. Did you notice if every time you spawned at exactly the same point (entrance of the map, from the transition areas)? At least when you choose the map at the beginning the run, the spawn is always there.
  5. Are we going to be able to start a new game directly in the new map? Some of my best gaming experiences were being thrown in an unknown TLD map (so much that I basically started a new game in every possible map before travelling around too much, and even waited patiently to experience Blackrock in survival before playing Chapter 4). Also, please make this possible for custom games. I'm quite disappointed that still isn't possible to have a random start in Forskaken Airfield. The update looks amazing, anyway.
  6. Nice! But it seems custom games have a bug where you always spawn at the entrance of the map. It's a shame that you must start a "normal" difficulty game to get random spawns...
  7. I know that, after release, Signal Void was adapted to allow Interloper runs. Is it possible to play the tale also in Custom Game mode? I usually play with settings similar to Interloper for loot, plus Rifle and Revolver availability. Just to be sure before starting a new run to play the tale.
  8. I'm pretty fine at the Hangar. That is, after I managed to not freeze inside of it (custom game with mostly Interloper settings). Contrary to what people say, there is actually good hunting (rabbits on the track, deer nearby in the back) and it's easy to get to Drifter's Island avoiding the predators. But I agree that it's a bit boring to keep walking from the storage to the bed to the door outside where you can make your fires, and learning how to reach the underground workbench without light was a PitA (thank gods I found a lantern). If safehouse customization would be only what the Movable Containers mod does, I'd be happy already. But yeah, Midnful Cabin is the nicest spot of the map. I just with I had more reasons to stay around there.
  9. Really looking forward to the next regions. Starting a new run in a completely unknown region is one of the best gaming experiences I ever had. Too bad I didn't realize that you could start new games in Far Territory as soon as you discover it. Exploring Forsaken Airfield with an established character was waaay less cool. But surviving in it with Interloper settings is being really nice, too. Hopefully the new regions will be acessible as soon as they are realesed. Otherwise I will just make a Pilgrim start running to there the faster possible!
  10. So that would be a balance issue, since we have three Forge regions in a row. Starting a game in Forsaken Airfield would be a dead end. Unless there is a chance of tools spawning in the transition regions. This might also be fixed when they add more regions to Far Territory, sure. But as I said above, now I'm fine with that, just dislike "deterministic" gaming in Long Dark. To be fair what I miss is a "Stalkerloper" level of loot, that is, all items having a chance of spawning (from tools to high-tier clothing), but with Interloper-level scarcity. The "medium" baseline gives you just too much of everything.
  11. Ok, I now have read more info in the forusn and found my first tool,a hammer, after five maps (from Forsaken Airfield to Mystery Lake). I was afraid that it was a bug, but probably it was just a very bad roll, as mentioned. I'm kind of split because usually I start the game in a map where I want to play, so being forced to leave is sad. On the other hand, having to cross maps and maps in seach for basic loot (still harvesting carcasses by hand!) is something that gives you purpose to travel. In the end, I liked it. I don't kown if they introduced more randomness now than before, but that is actually nice. On a side not, I may have had trouble with tools, but I had more matches than any other interloper run. I guess you lose from one side, but win from another. ;)
  12. I'm having this but in a custom game with Interloper settings for loot plus rifle and revolver availability. In the whole Forsaken Airfield, Transfer Pass, Broken Railroad and Far Range Branch Line I found only two Prybars (both in Far Range, near the locked door, perhaps guaranteed spawns?). No hammer, hacksaw, can opener or guns. In Stalker, however, I was swimming in loot in these three areas. If the new loot tables made things more rare in all levels, I'm ok with that. Just think they need more balance.
  13. After my first run in Far Territory in Stalker, I started another using custom settings. For loot, it's set as Interloper, but with Revolver and Rifle availability. I carefully checked almost alll points of interest in Transition Pass and Forsaken Airfield (just a coulpe of caves missing) and I didn't find any hand tools. Not a single hacksaw, hammer, can opener or prybar (also, no guns besides the flare gun in the usual place). Is this a bug or part of the new loot tables? If it's the second option, I strongly suggest to put at least one tool in the whole map. I wanted to "make a living" in the new maps, but will have to run away because of that. (also posting to make the universe conspire and make me find a tool in the last cave possible...)
  14. Well, just as I wrote that, I had the chilliest blizzard ever, enjoying the soft rustle of leaves from the balcony of the Island Cottage... ... and then in the morning after a beautifully clear windy day with blizzard sounds.
  15. For me the sound is quite off in the new maps. Sometimes I have a wind sound that is almost unbeareable, even with a -11 windchill or so. Others I have a blizzard with nothing more than a mild wind sound (took me some time to even recognize that a blizzard was coming). And also sometimes all the sound is simply cut for a few seconds. I have the impression that this is particularly offensive around Drifter's Island, but may be just because I spent much time there and the cabin isn't a transition area The new sounds are great, but there is still a lot to adjust. It's bad not being able to guess wind strenght by the sound, only by the stats.
