A simple piece of tinder that can burn for a couple of mins. Take a cotton ball, spread it apart and put petroleum jelly in it. Repeat, and put them in an old prescription bottle, or watertight container. The combination of the materials is like a candle. They will light very quickly, and burn long. This is my go-to fire-tinder. In a pinch, you can use an article of clothing, and carmex for similar results.
Careful of the surface you choose, you can get dirt in your food. My next tip, if you have paper matches (like from a cheap matchbook) you can split the match down the middle, and get 2 strikes out of it.
I've got quite a collection, but my daily carry is a Glock 34. My rifle zone deer rifle is a Remington 700 in 30.06. My shotgun zone deer gun is a Remington 870 with a rifled slug barrel. (28" field barrel for upland game) My "survival" gun is a single shot 12 gauge. With 9mm and .22lr inserts. My favorite plinker is a custom built 5.56 AR with a 16" Bravo Company upper. Close second is my 10/22 with Volq. 2.5# trigger and heavy stainless barrel. Super heavy but scary accurate. To name a few... :-)
