Take on Mars...

Recommended Posts

Hi.

If anyone is interested in Mars itself, and taking on the challenge of colonizing, and survival then take a look at it, it might be up your alley.

I play this sim on a regular basis, and is allot of fun, it also has MP. It's still in the alpha stage but is coming along nicely.

Check it out if you are into survival simulations.

Note: The MP videos were recorded a few weeks back, and the game has been updated several times since then.

Looks interesting. Can tell it was planned and set up for a co-op MP team style play. I tend to stay away from a lot of MP games [most seem to have the default team of expert bandits who simply like to prey on newbs like me -- so that tends to ruin a lot of the learning enjoyment] -- but this game appears to have a nice cooperative pace (rather than race in, kill everything in sight, and run away]... will definitely keep tabs on the progress.

Thanks for the share.

The game will accommodate both, Coop, and Combative meaning that if you have your personal server running you can allow others to go off, plan, and build their own colony, and compete for resources. It's entirely up to the person who has their server running. Of course people could go out, and sabotage other colonies equipment, and/or even steal their resources.

Also you have to realize that I highly doubt anyone would be running around with some form of heavy weaponry unless using a wrench or a mobile science lab to be used to commit the violence (I have been killed more than once being crushed by a vehicle). Of course the game can be fully modded so who knows what people will come up with.

It pays to be cooperative, structures are built faster, resources are collected, and equipment maintained much more regular schedule.... This list is somewhat endless. Also you just won't be hung up on building alone, and surviving mars horrendous storms, but you will be going out to do some scientific work, sending out rovers to explore, test, and find minerals to mine.

I have been playing this sim for quite awhile now, and it sure is something. I even took to modding the game, and creating scenarios.

Final: It is a very relaxing game to play.

  • 5 months later...

I play some Bohemia games, and this one has really come along nicely. It was a random pet project of one of the guys in the dev studio... they kind of let him make it by himself, and lo and behold it has gained momentum. It has far outreached its initial scope, because of its popularity and presumably good sales.

It's been on my Steam wishlist for some time, but I am very selective about the games I buy. I don't throw money at games and play them for 5 minutes like alot of kids today. I come from a time when a new game was something to cherish and play the crap out of.

For my space needs though, Kerbal Space Program, hands down.
