How to survive in the valley of a quiet river (small guide).

Basic rules for survival in a quiet river valley. 1: travel only in clear weather or light snow. 2: never move in the fog; if the fog comes unexpectedly, try to find a cave or other shelter! 3: try to find shelter before evening (in my case, get to the bunker) 4: go out during fog or heavy snow only if absolutely necessary or if you know the road well! 5: start a new day with full performance! 6: Move through the ice caves so you can travel a long distance safely (watch out for the wolf in one of the caves!) Happy Survival! :)

Those rules apply to every region TBH if you want to play it safe.  If you plan to stay and survive long in Hushed River Valley you must remember to take a lot of cloth and some leather with you - you can sleep only in caves thus your clothing and bedroll will take condition loss much faster than normal. Also be aware that there is no crafting table so you need to have your tools to 100% if you can and at least a dozen of arrows  plus a bow in good condition. I have lived there for 100days without leaving on Interloper and it was ok. The region is food plentifull, has a lot of caves.  There is a central cave in the frozen river valley close to the rope climb. Its the best place to stay IMO - you can reach every part of the map from there easy and fast. It also has bear close (you have to use the rope to get the meat down tho) wolves, rabbits and deer outside.

That is how that cave looked like from inside when i was living there

Carry a flare or a least a torch when going out in the fog to help prevent being ganked by wolves.  There's no wind and it's usually warmer than when it's clear, so it's not always desired to hunker down at that time.  Learn the map and its landmarks well so that you can orient yourself even in the worst weather.  (ETA - In areas where you know you're prone to getting disoriented and lost, you can place directiional marker arrows using spray paint or even by fashioning them out of tinder plugs (which you can get an endless supply of by harvesting them from sticks).  You can also make them from stones or even just sticks, although these are less distinctive (that is, they are items that can be found in the natural environment, so you may find yourself wondering if that stick was placed there by you or just the wind).

New survival suggestion, though - Always clear your fishing area of predators before starting to fish.😀

Take advantage of the rivers. Although wolves can occasionally patrol a confluence whrere multiple tributaries come together, for the most part the rivers are a wolf-free travel zone, and odds are you can get at least partial shelter from the wind too. Early on that's also a great source of cattails and tinder.
