Liquid Container System

This system came to my mind a few years ago, since I found that every time we take water, a huge bottle appears in our bag and when we drop water, there will be a bunch of small bottles. This is really convenient for playing but something seems missing.

What if we have a new liquid container system? Just like the Cooking Pot and Skillet. I know thermos are coming but mine design is different. If we want to carry water, we need various of bottles, and there are limitations. We can try 1L, 2L and 5L for carrying and they cannot hold more than those. On the other hand, we can have 18L, or even huger bottles for shelters like other containers, which can be movable, or not. We cannot have unlimited water indoors because we don't have unlimited bottles. Empty bottles have weights and the total kg depends on the amount of water.

Melting snow can also be changed like that. There could be unlimited snow outside but we need some time (or not) to collect and carry it, which also need container like pots, into the shelter. If the room temperature is above 0, or a fire makes it warm, the snow starts to melt slowly, while we can still boil it to make it faster. Maybe after a few hours, all the snow in the container becomes water and we just need to boil it to make it drinkable. Also, this will make it impossible to keep the water outdoor because it will freeze.

The Liquid Container System can also be used for Lantern Fuel and if we don't carry a fuel container like Jerry Can, we will lose the fuel when picking up the cooked fish.

This system will make it inconvenient to play but more funny. What do you guys think?

There are two mods for that. "Better Water Management" and "Fuel Manager". Though I think the former is currently broken with some internal changes to the liquid code.

Not having enough water containers in the early game definitely changes things a lot. Requiring more fires, or using pots as temporary storage. But at this point it's extremely unlikely that they'll do such a huge overhaul to a core mechanic.

What I'd love is to be able to drain storm lanterns. I think they used to work at some point.

So there is a chance I'm not crazy, that is nice to know. I also feel like that used to be a thing at some point and I'd really like to have it. Finding a 20% condition lantern with 0.93L of fuel in it that go by the wayside is a little sad sometimes.
