I can confirm the bear behavior works still.  Bear approached my campfire in CH today, I lined up an arrow on his noggin and fired.  Hit!  Roar!  Charge!  Stop!  Second arrow slipped in right after the first.  Bear is mortally wounded at this point and ran toward me but around the campfire and away into the distance.
