toque
I started a new Stalker run post-Errant Pilgrim update. Something I've noticed since the release of episode 3, and confirmed in this new save, is that you are now able to repair clothing or read books when it's completely night time, indoors. Example 1: It's late in the afternoon. I am inside the Milton Homestead, and have a copy of Advanced Guns Guns Guns. I eat and drink, then decide to try to read until it becomes too dark to read. I select around 7-8 hours of research time, expecting to be cut-off sometime between the 3-4 hour mark when the sun completely sets. Instead, my character reads until they become thirsty, around midnight, and stop reading because "they are too thirsty to focus on research." Example 2: I wake up fully rested in the middle of the night, around 2am if I had to guess. Having had the above example happen to me, I decide to try to read, again indoors. I was able to read despite not having enough light to even see the exit of the room I was standing in. I don't have a specific example of repairing clothing in the dark but I was under the impression that once it became completely dark (ie, when the sun completely disappears from the HUD), you couldn't repair anymore, and your in-progress repair would be stopped as well. Instead, I have been able to do both. Is this a bug or a new feature? Personally, I am wondering if this is a leftover bug from 4DON? As a feature, it doesn't make much sense, as it becomes fairly easy to repair/research in complete darkness and complete safety inside. As well, having a lack of light makes "realistic" sense, especially if the game is going to disable researching in-particular when your player is tired/hungry/thirsty. Dx421
From my experience: Some locations benefit from better lighting. If there's a moon out it can be enough to work by. Caves, and locations like the Mountaineer's Hut almost always benefit from this.
Serenity
Clear nights with moon-/starlight always allowed you to do stuff outside. Like in caves and cars. But it doesn't work when it's cloudy. I'm not exactly sure about the mechanics for indoors, but that's not new either
JAFO
On clear nights around the full moon, the game lets you read/repair indoors, as well as outdoors. This has been the case for quite a long time, now. Edited December 31, 2019 by JAFO
