It is not the cold, it is not the bear, the wolves, the moose. it is... complacency. 

Yes , the sun is downing and I hear wolves howling but I am close to a shelter, I can skin that moose and bring 20kg of meat home.  Or,  the weather is pretty clear, let's fish all morning long. Or... but you know what I mean😉.

No, not boredom, the feeling that you know better than common sense dictates. Complacency kills in TLD. It happens at the end of a long session when you start to cut corners.

I play a custom setting not on the easy side. But I don’t like the interloper, too gamey for me.

that's actually one of the things I love most about the game, and keeps pulling me back.  Once you get over that initial survival hump, it's usually your own mistakes that kill you.
