Water purification tablets useless?

I cant seem to use water purification tablets anymore, so, are they now completely useless?

I think they are more valuable than ever. Now I only need to melt the snow on my campfire, and then use the tablets to purify it. That way I can make space for the more important stuff faster

 

So yeah, they can be till used. If you can't use them it's probably a bug.
