How do you save in Wintermute?

Hello,

I am not a new player to this game. I have logged about 650 hours of game time in the sandbox mode. I just started Wintermute for the 2nd time. I am trying to save my progress by sleeping in my sleeping bag but it does not save my game. Every time I load my game I am outside of the blind woman's house. But I keep sleeping in my sleeping bag.

What am I missing? Is there a different way to save in Wintermute? So very frustrating. 

I love the Long Dark but Wintermute is just sad. I did try playing Wintermute months ago but could not get pass the first 10 minutes of frustration. 

I'll go back to sandbox mode. And thank god for Sandbox mode because if this game only had Wintermute it would be a failure.

Have you tried with the esc key and clicking on "save game"? It usually works.

So you can just save anytime, anywhere? lol.

I still do not know how my game was saved there. I have never used the "esc" key as you can not do that in the sandbox.

I just don't think wintermute is for me. Its a story on rails and is so limited. I just going to delete my game and continue with a sandbox.

Being the mission type game with a long story it needed frequent multiple saves. It autosaves sometimes and has "checkpoints" for starting and finishing missions, if you feel brave and want to keep it the ironman way.
