Joelle Emmily
Cold flowing water is very unlikely to have any pathogens or other detritus in it. While pound water could carry a litany of stomach churning crud in it, a water fall, especially in winter, could be almost guaranteed as safe, and would be an unlimited source of potable water. Wastelander
True, but there are risks involved - the fine water spray will get your clothes wet really quickly. Also, since we don't have buckets yet, you'd have to hold the bottle directly into the waterfall which would get your entire arm wet, which would quickly lead to hypothermia and frostbite. Fishing holes are much more useful for that purpose
Joelle Emmily
Do we even have bottles though? Like they just appear. 100 liters once when I was bored. Guess that's one use for raiding plastic recycle.

Tbone555
the idea does make a lot of sense, and youre completely right about it being a reliable source of fresh water however, as wastelander stated, the risk would be just too high given the environment we're in.. maybe if we could find a raincoat lying around somewhere, to shield us from the splash? deimos790
The issue would be the collection process itself. Would you just stick an empty bottle of water under the water fall? It would get ripped out of your hands and you would get soaked before you even got close to the water fall.
