When you enter the mine from the entrance by the miner's footpath, there is a machine that looks like you can drop down into it. Can anyone confirm that you can go down there without getting stuck? The drop looks just far enough that it might cause a sprain, so I didn't get to see if the hole at the center actually leads somewhere. Thanks.

My guess would be that there will be a location with like an order book and a list of wanted items/materials accepted for trade. You drop off your wares and place an order, then come back at some later date to pick up your order. I can't even guess how likely this might be, but it would at least preserve the solitude of the game.

That sounds like the right direction.  I could see there being a “mission” aspect of it.  Kinda like in episode 3, in ML the retrieval of ammunition for the forest talker.  Then he leaves a pair of deerskin boots or Mukluks I think?

The balance would probably be along the lines of 3 normal rifles in exchange for the Curators or something to that effect.

I’m still thinking it might be a good place for the use of the radio and the Aurora, also reminiscent of Ep.3

Poor Switch... didn't even make the list.

    :coffee::fire::coffee:

That’s because it hasn’t been updated….. I own this on Switch and that’s what I started playing TLD on.  But it’s lagged SO FAR BEHIND that I ended up purchasing it on PC.
Resubmit this Poll after they catch up with TFTFT and maybe that will change

well, besides obviously playing with some mods, but thanks to the mod Place Anywhere I was able to "stage" those items on the walls.  The furniture mod DIY Furniture is also heavily featured with the shelves, tables and chairs and the hanging hooks.  The hooks just are the right thing to make it look proper imho.  Took me about 15 hours irl picking each item up and putting it somewhere.  Definitely a labor of love!

I’ve thought of mods, but I’ve been hesitant to permanently alter the game

Perhaps I just don’t know enough about mods

  5. Best resource in FM - Spencer’s Homestead and surrounding area.  There are two deer carcasses, cattails, a hammer and lots of coal and scrap metal (on PILGRIM), Dog Food cans, maybe a gun in the safe, a research book, and a prepper cache within short reach.  Wolves for meat up by the radio tower and prowling the lower homestead cabins.  Also a cave behind the tower.

so basically other then ballistic vest the chance doesnt change for one and 2 infection risks/bleeding, but what is the chance of none, 1, and 2?

If you’re looking for a posted and verifiable percentage/fraction… I don’t think one exists.
Either the Devs would have to post the code directly,

or - through anecdotal evidence like has already been provided.

So, be a scientist and experiment. Get in a fight with a wolf as often as possible and wear different combinations of clothing while doing it! 😉

Lots of unknowns which we will find out in about a month!  Another one:  once the cougar is "triggered", what will it really take for it to "un-trigger"?  Simply, leaving the zone and re-entering?  Leave and wait X amount of hours/days?

Good question! And where are its boundaries? How far up the Fire Tower will it follow you? Etc.

  8. Couple of thoughts just occurred…

How long in a nap is “too long”? Around 10-12 days, the average cure time for a bear hide or moose hide?  This would force players to move maps and interrupt dry times - making things much harder, which is the underlying theme of TLD.

Also - how hard are the cougars going to be to kill? Or to survive an attack? You don’t know they are there until you’re getting mauled, then they’re gone… All the “cheat-death” haters may begin appreciating the provision once the “cougar experience” has taken full effect…

I really love the rewards for completing the tales so MUCH! So I’ve taken interest onto the item for completing tale 3, in there latest development diary they said there will be a feat but nothing about any item that will be given.

so, I want to speculate about what it could be.

The last two items that were given for Tales completions were weight reduction items, maybe the Feat is a permanent weight allowance bonus? “You have become hardened by physical trials; you can now carry an additional 5kg”.
Add that to the Well Fed bonus, the technical pack and the moose hide satchel, total weight allowance of 50kg….

The image speaks for itself. Would be limited to 2 shells and would fit the older Frontier aesthetics of the island quite well.

  12. I recommend stopping in at the cannery workers residence and sleep 1 hour to warm up, and I usually go to the cannery next and loot as much as possible.  Key points that helped me most is find matches/flares early, and any fire you start get multiple torches from it for later.  If you can get enough to make it to the cave, even better.  Secondly, ALWAYS MAKE TEA/COFFEE and keep the warmth bonus.  I would also stop and make a fire with a lit torch to warm back up again.
It’s the freezing that kills you before anything else, so plan your route accordingly to stay sheltered/cook canned food for the warmth bonus.

Im just glad you didn't use the phrase save scumming....  I think it's a horrible turn of phrase and I wish it wasn't used at all...so thank you for that..

It is entertaining to see the terminology invented to criticize another persons play habits on a VIDEO GAME.  Being a hard core GAMER isn’t the same as being actually hard core.  We are PRETENDING to be hard core in this game, so if we “save scum” - we haven’t really lost any stature.

    just sayin’

  14. When you fired the distress pistol at the bear, did you miss?  Or did the flare stick in the bear?

If you missed, you were in his cave, and in his way, that’s why you got mauled.

    Might be a she-bear though….

I see what you did there. Hilarious

I’ve been waiting for someone to comment on that 🤣

@Pyroxene We still had walkmans and cassette tapes and pay phones, it wasn’t that much different.
Except you had to read actual books and go to the library if you wanted to learn something.  None of this instant gratification google and Wikipedia search….

Funny thing is, I appreciate the simplicity of it more now than I ever did as a kid, and even now I’d appreciate pushing back into the 40’s and 50’s.  A simple life has only a few things to stress about, kinda like this game.

In TLD we just need to worry about something to eat and a warm place to sleep, and I imagine that’s what draws so many of us in…
