Apparently, there's a plane crash in the Mystery Lake. Was this always here? I have never seen it before.

I don’t believe so.  I believe that was added with the Signal Void challenge.  It sends a beacon during the Aurora that you can track.

  2. Hunting Lodge

Its not my favorite “base”, just not sustainable - but it’s the place I feel like I just came “home”

Second is the Foreman’s retreat in AC.  And if I’m bored with it I can shoot over to Homesteaders Respite for a change of scenery.

  3. I’d like to see another workbench added to FA.  Most natural places would be Junkers Paddock, outside the Cargomasters trailer, or inside justy’s hovel.  I’m sure these could be balanced with indoor vs. outdoor placement, specifically with the Cargomasters trailer.
Outdoor placement would need a fire barrel for this region

Another option would be a craft able work bench.  Requires a heavy hammer and 15-20 pieces of scrap metal and several hours of labor, add a decay rate based on usage (~0.5-1% per crafted hour).  This would equate to 2 bearskin bedrolls and a moose hide cloak with a few arrows thrown in for good measure at a minimum, double that for a 0.5% decay rate.
Make the bench repairable and we are on to something.

Feeling/hoping we will get something soon!  A dev diary, or better yet, the next update!!!  I haven't been playing TLD for the past month or so and I'm ready to get back into it!

Same here. I’ve tried to play a couple times but I’m at a standstill and don’t have anything left to do at the moment.
So the game is sitting for now…

That was exactly my thought actually!  Along with other valuable shiny items left around your base camp if not properly secured.

  6. It took me AT LEAST a dozen tries between the Switch and PC attempts.
The biggest hurdle is maintaining body temp and getting out of break inlet.
I 2nd the point to make good use of heated drinks and foods!

Yeah, really hoping we get more info this month, it would track with previous years.

Strangely the SteamDB builds of TLD haven't been updated in 8 days, when they get updated multiple times a day (excluding the weekends).

    Here’s hoping

I've been giving this some thought.

I also think the balance is wrong... but I'm leaning towards the amount of down per bird is the issue.

I think maybe only getting 1 amount of down from 1 bird should be the way to go.

We won't have the issue of spending hours plucking a single bird, and also makes it so we have to hunt more of them to stuff a bedroll.

Then the problem will be the lack of birds and hours spent hunting them.
How about Rob Schneider as a tool?

I'll probably try everything I can in there, see if I can blow one up lol..😁

It occurred to me that the Hinterland coffee mug we find in the microwave looks like a metal mug… perhaps it already blew up! 🤣

I also think adding a smoker (building a smoker that is) and a Smoking skill level would be cool, which allowed us to make more and more advanced smoked meats and fish.  These of course would last longer and longer.  This is another thing that natives did to preserve meat.  Besides, who doesn't love smoked bear sausage or a smoked Coho Salmon?

I’ve been trying to plug that suggestion in wherever I can.  Hopefully that will make it in to the DLC before they stop supporting TLD and move on to other projects.
A smoker to cure meats just makes sense.

I'm just a New England snob who lived on the border of canada in the most maple filled part of New England.  I'm still sticking to my answer, although, wild blueberries would be a good addition...

I thought the blueberries would be a good one.  Very New England and grows wild

Yes,HRV starts can be tricky if you don’t find a light source.

But it is possible to navigate the cave to Milton without a light source, at least during the day. I did it by walking backwards in order to keep my orientation. You can see from one lit spot to the next, and there aren’t too many legs.

The last leg is hardest, but once you get onto the ramp and make it halfway up, you can turn and see the exit.

    Good luck!

That’s exactly what I tried and got frustrated and turned around 3 times 🤣🤣

Good to know i’m on the right track

  13. So I’m not great at interloper, and it seems the difference between Stalker and Interloper is…. Pronounced.
    I’ve restarted upwards of 10-12 times just to get one useable run, maybe that’s normal but;

Why can’t we just sleep on the ground? That would’ve made a huge difference.  The sitting dead do it (but I guess that’s why they’re dead??🙃)
Also, a craftable bow drill for fire starting would’ve made a difference as well.

Maybe it’s a technique thing, but if I spawn in HrV, it’s pretty much guaranteed death.  Mostly because there is no lighting to make it through the caves, and the lighting in the ice caves is….. near impossible also.

Lol..😁.  All it needs now is a microwave to reheat the nuggets😅

And that’s why the microwave needs to work during the Aurora!!

I would also like to be able to make Jerky.  Wolf and bear jerky, etc.  Smoked salmon and such.  We just need the ability to set up a smoker above existing camp fires.

It's already classed as muskeg, which is similar to marsh or swamp in that it's waterladen and stagnant.

"Muskeg forms because permafrost, clay or bedrock prevents water drainage. The water from rain and snow collects, forming permanently waterlogged vegetation and stagnant pools."

"Although, at first glance, muskeg resembles a plain covered with short grasses, a closer look reveals a bizarre and almost unearthly landscape. Small stands of stunted (often-dead) trees, which vaguely resemble natural “bonsai”, grow where land protrudes above the water table, with small pools of water (stained dark red) scattered about. Its grassland appearance invites the unwary to tread on it; however, even the most solid muskeg is spongy and waterlogged. Traveling through muskeg is a strange and dangerous experience, for the unaccustomed. Muskeg can grow atop bodies of water, especially small ponds and streams. Because of the water beneath, the muskeg surface sometimes moves and ripples underfoot. Thinner patches can collapse under significant weight, and cause larger animals to fall-through and become trapped underneath, drowning if an escape route is not found."

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muskeg

Frankly, I think I prefer the thin ice.
